Figure skater Kim Yuna, who is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, donated 100,000 USD (approx. 100 million KRW) to the Korean Committee for  UNICEF to help the young victims of the earthquake in Nepal. On April 28, the said charity stated "The fund will go towards providing nutritional help, sanitary water, health care, and protection to the child victims of the earthquake." On April 27, Kim Yuna wrote on her Twitter, "UNICEF is helping the children in Nepal who are going through a devastating time because of the recent earthquake. Please lend a helping hand!" and introduced the Korean Committee for UNICEF website. This isn't the first time she has donated for UNICEF. Even before she became the goodwill ambassador of this charity, she donated 100 million won (approx. 100,000 USD) to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. After being named the ambassador of UNICEF, she continued to spread the word of Haiti and was active in aiding the young around the world. The skater donated her prize money in the World Championships towards the victims of the 2011 earthquake in Japan, 100,000 dollars (approx. 100 million won) to the young victims of the 2013 hurricane in the Philippines, and 100 million won to the victims' family of the Sewol incident in 2014.
