Why Were Song Ga Yeon and Seo Kang Joon Edited Out of "Roommate" Finale?

Recommended Posts

If you watched the season finale of "Roommate 2" that aired on April 14, you might have noticed that special guest Song Ga Yeon and cast member Seo Kang Joon were nowhere to be found. It was previously reported that Song Ga Yeon would make a guest appearance in the final episode as a mixed martial arts (MMA) coach for GOT7's Jackson and Seo Kang Joon. Despite successfully wrapping up the shoot, the footage was not aired during the broadcast, leaving some viewers wondering what happened to Seo Kang Joon in particular. On April 13, it was revealed that Song Ga Yeon is currently in the middle of a legal dispute regarding contract termination with her agency, Soobak E&M. Song Ga Yeon claims that the company has not been transparent about profit distribution, whereas Soobak E&M has accused her of missing shoots and having an 'abnormal' relationship with one of her colleagues. Considering the circumstances, the producers of "Roommate" decided to edit her part out of the episode, especially as one of the agency employees could be seen in the footage. Unfortunately, this meant that Seo Kang Joon, who had been with the "Roommate" family from season one, was not featured in the show finale. Seo Kang Joon was only able to shoot the MMA class with Song Ga Yeon and Jackson, and the producers decided not to include any of the footage in the episode. Jackson, on the other hand, had taken part in an additional shoot, and was thus seen in the final broadcast. Soon after the heavily edited finale aired, Seo Kang Joon took to his Instagram to thank the producers, viewers, and his roommates for the experience, and promised to return soon with another project.
