Pledis's large-scale male idol group is looking forward to a debut soon! According to Star News, Pledis will debut their global male idol group Seventeen in April. Pledis also represents After School, Orange Caramel, and Nu'est Seventeen is composed of 13 members, and are working hard, aiming for April as their debut. It was initially supposed to be comprised of 17 members, but after harsh training, only 13 members remained to secure a spot on the team. Previously, they aired "SeventeenTV" for two years between 2012 to July of 2014, gathering fans even before debut. Even though they haven't officially made a debut, they already have many foreign viewers including those from Thailand, Japan, and China. Furthermore, many foreign fans attended their concerts. Last year, they attended the "2014 SBS Awards Festival" and performed on the celebratory stage. Pledis plans to break the frame of debuting a group in Korea first and then advancing to other countries. They plan to develop the group into being able to promote in Korea, China and Japan all at once. The agency is reported to be looking into the plan of dividing the group into three units and promote in Korea, China and Japan at the same time. To appeal to the global population, it is reported that some of the members are fluent in Chinese and English. An associate said, "Seventeen is wrapping up preparations for their debut" and added, "For now, 13 members have been confirmed for debut, but nothing has been decided on the other members. They are still working on the specific concept and promotion plans." Source (1)
