CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa received praise from the artists he collaborated with on his solo album. It was revealed on January 7, 11, and 12 that Jung Yong Hwa collaborated with YDG (also known as Yang Dong Geun), Verbal Jint, and Yoon Do Hyun for his album. The three musicians shared their thoughts on working with him. Jung Yong Hwa collaborated with YDG on the newly released single, “Mileage,” which swept various Chinese charts. YDG shared that he signed up to work with Jung Yong Hwa as soon as he heard a sample of the song Jung Yong Hwa wrote. He also boasted that they immediately had great chemistry working together. He shared, “I’m thankful to be working with someone who has fans all over the world and I’ve enjoyed myself. I feel that Jung Yong Hwa is a musician across all genres.” Of the song he created with Jung Yong Hwa, Verbal Jint said, “This is the second time I’ve composed music outside of hip-hop, and I’m excited for the challenge.” He also shared the story behind the title of their song, stating, “I created a song titled ‘Wongiok’ thinking it was a subject that all of us who are tired and discouraged could relate to. When Jung Yong Hwa heard it, he got excited and took the song on the spot.” Verbal Jint also shared his thoughts on the collaboration process between the two artists. “I received the beat, wrote one verse and chorus and gave it to Jung Yong Hwa. He smoothly finished the second verse and I got a real taste of collaboration. On the day we recorded the song, we were in the studio and Jung Yong Hwa seamlessly wove in an additional chorus line I never thought of, on top of the melody I made. Seeing him do that made me think that Jung Yong Hwa is a young man who knows and makes music well.” As lead vocalists for YB and CNBLUE, two of Korea’s representative rock back, Yoon Do Hyun and Jung Yong Hwa have a meaningful senior and junior relationship. This can be seen in Yoon Do Hyun’s comments, as he shared, “I always wanted CNBLUE to grow into a being a true band. I thought it would be nice if I could help as a senior, so I wanted to work together.” Yoon Do Hyun was overflowing in his compliments about Jung Yong Hwa. “As I always thought before, Jung Yong Hwa is someone who really likes music and has a passion for it. I’m impressed seeing him tirelessly working and running to achieve his dreams.” He also shared an unusual desire for the song they collaborated on, stating, “While we worked on ‘Cruel Memories,’ we said we wanted to raise a passion about the song so that Jung Yong Hwa and any Korean male could go to karaoke together and sing this duet at the top of their lungs as they faced each other.” Along with YDG, Verbal Jint, and Yoon Do Hyun, the fourth and final artist Jung Yong Hwa collaborated with will be revealed on January 13. All the tracks from his solo album will be released on January 20 and he will start promotions for his solo career.
