Newsie Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Lee Hae Yong from Almeng stopped an assailant who was assaulting a harmless elderly woman on January 8. According to police authorities, Lee Hae Yong was at a crosswalk near Sillim Station in Seoul when he saw someone attacking an 81-year-old woman picking up cardboard and other recyclables. He quickly rushed to aid the helpless woman and called the authorities. The assailant was drunk and assaulting the woman without any reason. He kicked her over and continued to hit her, saying “Shut up,” when the woman was asking him why he was hitting her. Fearing for the woman's safety, Lee Hae Yong stopped the assailant and apprehended him until authorities arrived and detained him. For his courageous act, Lee Hae Yong is expected to receive a letter of appreciation and reward money. Luckily, the elderly woman did not suffer any major injuries. “I thought the woman would be seriously hurt so I rushed to help her. Thankfully, the authorities arrived very soon and they were able to detain the assailant,” said Lee Hae Yong. “Any modest citizen would have done the same thing.” Lee Hae Yong made it to the top six in "K-Pop Star" Season 3.
