Newsie
Dal Po and In Ha are no longer trying to pretend that they don’t like each other (thank goodness!), but they haven’t quite reached their happy ending yet. There’s still corruption to be exposed--and when the root lies this close to home, it looks like it’s our heroes who will be hurt the most when it’s pulled out. These were my five favorite scenes of “Pinocchio” episode 16: 1. Surprise family visit This scene was pure perfection. Dal Po and In Ha’s panicked faces, In Ha hiccupping in the cupboard, Dal Po trying to drown out the hiccups with EXO's music, suspicious Dad, oblivious Grandpa… It was all simply wonderful. “Pinocchio” can be a heavy, dramatic show, so scenes like this, which are pure levity, are a wonderfully welcome change of pace. 2. Dal Po loves looking at In Ha Be still, my heart. Early in the drama, both In Ha and Dal Po enjoyed looking at each other sleep, and Dal Po now revives that tradition. But before, the gazing was secretive, almost ashamed. Now, Dal Po has nothing to hide and nobody to hide from, so he looks at In Ha openly, his face full of love and joy. It’s a perfectly romantic moment. 3. Yoo Rae has been dumped Yoo Rae is a character who (sadly) doesn’t get to do much, but Lee Yoo Bi makes every moment she has on screen count. I was in stitches during this scene, as she sadly shuffles past Dal Po and Gyo Dong, muttering a song about being dumped. It’s random and silly, a bizarre conclusion to the bizarre subplot of Yoo Rae’s crush on Dal Po, but it’s also hilarious. 4. Most awkward company dinner(s) ever Yes, it seems pretty unbelievable that this restaurant would double-book the MSC and YGN company dinners. But when the result is this scene, a pitch-perfect blend of passive-aggressive comedy and idealistic earnestness, I’m not complaining. 5. Bum Jo gets closer to the truth Poor Bum Jo. His mounting suspicions about his mother’s true nature aren’t easy to watch, but I love how openly he’s dealing with it. He confronts her, demands to know the truth, and shares everything he knows and thinks he knows with In Ha. This is definitely the best way to deal with the discovery that your mother is a sinister schemer. What did you think of this episode? Let us know in the comments below!
