[Updated with Confirmation] SBS Might Bring Back the Awards Ceremony of Gayo Daejun

Recommended Posts

Broadcasting company SBS is reportedly considering the option of bringing back the awards ceremony of its end-of-the-year music show, Gayo Daejun. A representative of SBS revealed to Newsen on December 5, "When confirming with the producer of Gayo Daejun, I was told that nothing has been set to stone yet." Similarly, another representative explained, "This year's SAF [SBS Awards Festival] will be held as an awards show, and as Gayo Daejun is one of the largest events out of the three, there has been discussions about a [Gayo Daejun] awards ceremony. However, nothing has been decided yet." SBS included an awards ceremony in the annual music event until 2007. Bringing back the awards would mark the ceremony's return after eight years. This year, SBS will be turning the three annual end-of-the-year events into a 12-day festival, becoming the first of the three main broadcasters (SBS, KBS, MBC) to do so. SBS Awards Festival will be held from December 20 to 31 at the COEX C Hall in Seoul, and SBS Gayo Daejun will be broadcast live on December 21.
