2014 Melon Music Awards is being held at the Olympic Park Sports Stadium on today and broadcasting live through MBC Music, MBC Every1, MBC Queen, Melon, and 1theK’s YouTube channel. The 2014 Melon Music Awards celebrates the top 10 artists of the year, selected by fan votes. BIGBANG's Taeyang, solo star IU, girl groups SISTAR, 2NE1, and Girl’s Day, and boy bands Winner, BEAST. g.o.d, and EXO, co-ed duo Akdong Musician make up the this year's top 10. At the awards ceremony, the organizers will announce who will be given the “Best Artist,” “Best Song,” and “Best Album” awards. A special prize called “Web Users’ Favorite” will also be awarded on the basis of an online voting system. There will be performances from BIGBANG‘s Taeyang, IU, SISTAR, Girl’s Day, Winner, BEAST, A Pink, and Soyu x Junggigo. While most of the awards will be presented by Korea’s hottest actors and actresses, Melon has also reserved a spot for an ordinary citizen. This will be the first time that a non-celebrity will be presenting an award on the show. The winner has been chosen through an online lottery. The ceremony lasts from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m KST.
