Newsie
Actor Julien Kang has tested negative for controlled substances after being detained by Seoul police officers. The star, famous for his roles in dramas such as “High Kick through the Roof,” was taken into police custody after being found apparently drunk in the streets of Seoul in the early hours of September 25. Preliminary police tests have found no initial evidence that the actor had taken any controlled substances, though the results of a more thorough test will take more time to come through. Reports have been circulating that the star was found by a bystander walking around alone in the Yeoksam district of the capital wearing nothing but his underwear. The bystander then allegedly reported this to the police, who took Julien Kang into custody. Julien Kang’s representatives have disputed details of the stories, and have told media outlet TV Report, “It is not true that Julien Kang was taken into custody wearing only his underwear. He was also not alone when he was being tested – his manager was with him. He has tested negative for drugs, so there is no police investigation ongoing now.” Julien Kang's manager had arrived on the scene after local residents also called the actor's agency. The representative also added, “He was in a club with acquaintance, and someone he wasn't familiar with gave him a drink. The next thing he knew, he had lost control. As far as we are concerned, the case is now closed. If we come across any libelous reports on this story, we will take legal action.” News agency Yonhap News has said that Julien Kang told police, “I was drinking with a friend from 11 a.m. [on September 24] until 4 a.m. I don’t understand why I did it.” Source (1) (2) Update: A video of a tall male, of which people suspected showed Julien Kang being taken into custody by the police, circulated around the web earlier. Julien Kang's mangaement agency, Show Brothers Entertainment, responded, "Julien Kang was not wandering about in the streets in his underwear. He was wearing short pants and a sleeveless shirt. He apologizes for causing this trouble." The agency continued, "The video circulating around the web can cause misunderstanding as it edits out the context. We plan to take firm action against the persons who distributed the video. Source (1) (2)View the full article
