Newsie
Actor Cha Tae Hyun, popular for his cheerful sincerity, humor, and wholesome appearance, revealed his wish to try out the role of a villain. On the August 31 edition of MBC's “Section TV Entertainment Report,” the actor recalled his personal acting life goals. After debuting in a talent competition but not being able to find work, Cha Tae Hyun wandered lost in the world of broadcasting. “In the drama 'Sunny Place of the Young,'” he said, “I got typecasted as the guy who chases after Jeon Do Yeon but received no recognition from her. She liked her school seniors,'” he said. About the turning point in his career, the actor said, “I guess my most well-known work is 'Sunflower.' I received a lot of love and got cast for a lot of commercials because of my role on that drama.” Asked why he thinks directors choose him for certain roles, he responded, “Famous directors don't seek me out. Directors Park Chan Wook and Bong Jun Ho didn't look for me. It was just that I saw a good opportunity and chose to participate.” Finally, he revealed the character type he most wants to play in the future: “I'd like to try playing a villain. I've always wanted to do so.” Fans should keep an eye out for Cha Tae Hyun's latest movie, “Slow Video,” which will be released on October 2.
