Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2014 – August Week 4

Recommended Posts

After getting close with many of their past hits, Block B finally scores their first ever No. 1 song on our chart this week with “HER.” This song won on M!Countdown last week and was also consistently among the top songs in all our sources. “HER” narrowly edged out the champion of the past two weeks, SISTAR’s “Touch My Body” by eight points to win the top spot this week. Block B was voted by our fans as the Breakout Artist on our 2013 Soompi Awards. Now they finally add a chart topping hit to their credential. Congratulations to Block B. There are two new songs in the top 10 this week, both by rookie artists. Moving up 12 spots to No. 6 is SM Entertainment’s latest female group Red Velvet. Their first single “Happiness” just takes two weeks to reach the top 10. “Happiness” is a vibrant pop dance hit filled with dynamic vocals and diverse raps throughout the song. The lyrics are about finding happiness. As with all SM groups, Red Velvet debuts with a lot of fanfare and they are poised to become next big K-Pop female group. They got off to a great start. Moving up eight spots to No. 8 is Park Bo Ram’s first single “Beautiful.” Park Bo Ram was a contestant of Super Star K2 back in 2010. After nearly four years of training, she finally made her debut. “Beautiful” is a medium tempo song written by hip-hop artist and songwriter Rado. It has an additive melody and a retro-style piano melody. The lyrics are about how long it takes for a long to become beautiful, which is almost the tale of Park Bo Ram herself.
