Ayumi (former Sugar member) and Japanese singer Gackt have gone their separate ways.

According to Japanese media outlet Sankei Sports on August 7, “Gackt and Iconiq [Ayumi’s stage name], who dated since 2012, have broken up.” Quoting a source, they said, “Due to personality differences and busy schedules, the two broke it off a week ago.”

Previously, the two singers confirmed their relationship in June of 2012, after Japan’s Friday Magazine revealed photos of Ayumi and Gackt on a date.

Ayumi debuted with Korean girl group Sugar in 2002. When the group disbanded in 2006, she went on to pursue a solo career, eventually debuting in Japan under the stage name Iconiq.

Gackt was the lead singer of the ‘90s Japanese rock band Malice Mizer, and made his solo debut in 1999.
