ALi’s Breathtaking Jo Young Nam Cover Shatters “Immortal Song” Record

Recommended Posts

Singer ALi bagged a record-breaking score on the latest episode of KBS2’s Immortal Song, with a performance of veteran musician Jo Young Nam’s “Just Once in My Life,” originally released in 1970. You can check out ALi’s version here (click on "here") and the Jo Young Nam original below.

Stunning the crowd with her passionate dance moves and her explosive vocals, she completely reinvented the popular track. The performance, almost operatic in its execution, recorded 447 points, the highest score ever on the long-running show.

“I just can’t believe that score,” said ALi after the performance. She added, “I felt a raw energy that I have not felt since I started singing.”

It is not the first time that ALi has made the headlines with a daring remake of an older Korean classic on Immortal Song. In 2011, she stunned audiences with a soulful reinterpretation of Cho Young Pil’s “Red Dragonfly.”
