SM Entertainment to Remove Controversial Scenes and Release New Edited MV for Red Velvet’s “Happiness”

SM Entertainment’s brand new rookie girl group Red Velvet’s recently released music video for their debut single “Happiness” is currently under the spotlight for containing controversial scenes.

Not long after the new music video was revealed, a media outlet in Japan had reported that there were scenes that alluded to the Hiroshima atomic bombing as well as the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In response to these reports, SM Entertainment explained, “After asking the director, it seems that he simply used a collage from an image source and there were no intentions behind it.”

The rep continued, “We will edit the material that has caused misunderstandings as soon as possible, as it is something SME was unable to detect earlier. We will pay closer attention so things like this don’t arise in the future.”

SM Entertainment has taken down the old and first version of the video and uploaded at edited version without the controversial scenes.
