Yoo Chae Young Loses Battle with Stomach Cancer

Singer and actress Yoo Chae Young has died after a fight with stomach cancer. News broke of her worsening condition earlier this week, and on the morning of July 24, the charismatic performer’s talent agency, 150 Entertainment, announced she had passed away.

A spokesperson for the agency told reporters, “Yoo Chae Young had been battling against cancer since October last year, but we are sad to announce that she passed away this morning at 8am at Seoul’s Severance Hospital. Her husband and family were at her side throughout the time. Please remember how bright and entertaining she was.”

The singer first shot to fame as part of the group Cool, and also enjoyed international success with the album “Emotion,” released in 1999. She also enjoyed much success last decade, when she starred in the hit comedy movie “Sex is Zero” in 2002, as well as the film’s sequel in 2007. Her last major music release was the extended play “Another Decade,” released in 2009, which featured the hit track, “I Like It.
