‘Signal’ stars, G-Dragon join ‘Muhan Company’

Popular celebrities including actress Kim Hye-soo, left, actor Lee Je-hoon, middle, and singer G-Dragon, will join the popular MBC show “Infinite Challenge” on an upcoming “Muhan Company” episodes. 

In the special episodes, members of “Infinite Challenge” and celebrities play workers at a fictional company ranging from CEO to intern. 

“Although it is an entertainment show, everyone [including the invited celebrities] will play big enough roles to pose impact on the story,” said a source affiliated with the show. 

Kim and Lee’s participation have garnered particular interest since the two starred in the popular tvN drama “Signal” in the early part of this year. 

This will be G-Dragon’s second appearance as part of “Muhan Company.” 

Since the special shows were first launched in 2011, they have been particularly popular among salary workers. 

The latest is scheduled to hit the air in August, but few of the scenes will be released in late July.

The thrilling end to the special episode of MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” action blockbuster “Muhan Company” aired Saturday night, lifting the veil on the villain.

Viewers were kept on the edge of their seats in the second half of “Muhan Company,” which featured actress Kim Hye-soo appearing as Detective Cha Soo-hyun, a character from the drama "Signal."

S. Korean TV series 'Signal' to air in Japan

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- A Korean crime series about two detectives communicating through time will air on Japanese cable TV starting next week, its production company said Monday.

"Signal," a hit series on the Korean cable channel tvN, concluded in March with a solid viewership of 12.5 percent. Lee Je-hoon plays a profiler who connects via walkie-talkie with a detective from the past (Cho Jin-woong) to jointly solve cold cases. Kim Hye-soo plays a detective who is connected to both.

The first two episodes will air on the Japanese cable channel Shochiku on Sunday, with the rest to be aired in October, according to A STORY.

The company said it has also joined hands with Dentsu, a major Japanese advertising agency, to develop various content tailored for the Japanese audience. Crime shows have typically enjoyed wide popularity in Japan.

tvN10 Awards Honor The Best Variety Shows And Dramas Of The Past 10 Years

The tvN10 Awards celebrated its illustrious 10-year past with a massive awards ceremony.

Hosted by Shin Dong Yup and Kang Ho Dong, the tvN10 Awards examined the shows that aired on the cable channel tvN between 2006 and 2016 to select its winners. Winners were selected based on 40 percent internal evaluation, 30 percent external evaluation, and 30 percent audience input.

Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Hye-jin were a couple. They were blessed by everyone. However, they broke up and are not together anymore although they still seem to get along.

The "tvN 10th Anniversary Awards" was held on the 9th at KINTEX Ilsan. This is the first tvN awards ever and everyone was excited.

Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Hae-jin were mentioned for their performances in the drama "Signal" and TV show "Three Meals A Day". At the awards, Kim Hye-soo was seen greeting Yoo Hae-jin by putting her hand on his shoulder. Yoo Hae-jin returned her greeting by holding her hand.

This stirred everyone's attention on and off-line as they aren't together anymore but still seemed to be on good terms as it's only naturally for ex-lovers to try and avoid each other as much as they can.

However, they didn't seem to mind that they were being watched and their gestures showed that they were sincerely supportive of each other.

December Film Actor Brand Reputation Rankings Revealed

After announcing brand reputation rankings for drama actors earlier this month, the Korean Business Research Institute announced the rankings for film actors.

From November 30 to December 30, the institute gathered over 72 million pieces of data to evaluate film actors in the areas of branding, media, communication, and community.

Gong Yoo, who starred in the hit film “Train to Busan” and is currently appearing in tvN drama “Goblin,” topped the list with a score of 7,705,239.

Second and third were Kang Dong Won (7,472,214) and Lee Byung Hun (6,871,074).

Kim Hye Soo To Make Special Appearance In Prequel Episode Of “Romantic Doctor Kim”

Kim Hye Soo will be making a special appearance on SBS’s “Romantic Doctor Kim.”

The actress is set to make a surprise cameo on the show’s final episode airing January 17. The final episode is set to be a prequel episode that will show a different side of the hospital. Many viewers are anticipating her upcoming appearance as Kim Hye Soo’s role in the drama is not yet revealed.

Kim Hye Soo cheerfully agreed to make a cameo appearance, as the actress wanted to support the drama as well as actor Han Suk Kyu. The two actors first starred together in a 1995 movie titled “Dr. Bong,” and also starred in the 2010 film “Villain and Widow.” Despite her busy schedule, the actress will be appearing on set for “Romantic Doctor Kim” on January 11.

The production team for “Romantic Doctor Kim” revealed, “We are very grateful for Kim Hye Soo to appear in the final episode, which is also a prequel of ‘Romantic Doctor Kim.’ The prequel episode of the drama will be featuring a story that will satisfy the viewers.”

Kim Hye Soo’s Prequel Role Revealed As “Romantic Doctor Kim” Ends With Highest Viewership Ratings

It’s a happy ending for the Dol Dam Hospital.

“Romantic Doctor Kim” has ended with a smile as it scored its highest viewership rating for its last episode.

According to statistics released by Nielsen Korea on January 17, the drama’s 20th episode had nationwide viewership ratings of 27.6 percent.

This is 0.9 percent higher than the previous episode (26.7 percent) and the drama was able to end with its highest ratings ever.

The best moment of the night came with the appearance of actress Kim Hye Soo. She stepped out of a taxi and entered Doldam Hospital, and Doctor Kim Sa Bu (played by Han Suk Kyu) looks stunned to see her. Kim Hye Soo’s character smiles brightly and says, “Hello! It’s been a while…”

Her brief appearance hit real-time ratings of 31.5%, the highest statistics ever recorded by “Romantic Doctor Kim.” Her memorable presence brings excitement to the upcoming prequel episode, in which Kim Hye Soo will play Lee Young Jo, a MSF doctor and the first love of Kim Sa Bu.

The prequel episode of “Romantic Doctor Kim” will air on January 17 at 10 p.m. KST.

“Romantic Doctor Kim” Has Strong Finale With Record-Breaking Prequel Episode

“Romantic Doctor Kim” has come to its final conclusion with a prequel episode centered around Han Suk Kyu and Kim Hye Soo.

According to statistics released by Nielsen Korea on January 18, the prequel episode scored nationwide ratings of 27 percent. This is only 0.6 percent behind the drama’s highest viewership ratings, recorded during the final episode that aired on January 16.

Approximately 6.13 million people tuned in to the prequel, bringing the total audience to 103.81 million for all live broadcasts and reruns of the 21 episodes, as well as the director’s cut special.

The prequel episode follows the appearance of Lee Young Jo (played by Kim Hye Soo) at Dol Dam Hospital to ask Kim Sa Bu (played by Han Suk Kyu) to help her treat a patient with AIDS.

Kim Sa Bu agree to his first love’s request and works with Do In Bum (played by Yang Se Jong) to successfully perform surgery on the patient. Lee Young Jo works with Kang Dong Joo (played by Yoo Yeon Seok) to help a patient who was rushed into the hospital with a bullet wound, maintaining the show’s reputation as a high-quality medical drama till the very end.

Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung (played by Seo Hyun Jin) also reaffirm their love, tying up all the loose ends that were left from the 2oth episode.

The highest real-time ratings broke the record at 32.8 percent. These impressive numbers came from the flashback scene showing Kim Sa Bu and Oh Myung Shim (played by Jin Kyung) meeting for the first time.

Both characters are at the same police station, Kim Sa Bu for punching two vagrants trying to steal money from a student and Oh Myung Shim because of an unruly patient, when a man suddenly collapses. Seeing that the man has a serious wound on his leg, Kim Sa Bu immediately begins to treat him when Oh Myung Shim starts helping him. The doctor realizes the man requires surgery, and the nurse suggests they go to the hospital she works at, Dol Dam Hospital.

22 Years of Friendship Led to This Special Cameo!

On the very last episode of "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" I was sad to see this wonderful drama come to an end but I knew there was one more day of happiness ahead with the special episode (Can more dramas do this from now on please?). What I didn't know was that I would be screaming at the ending when the queen appeared. Yes, you heard me. South Korea's queen of red carpet!

When she showed her face, I literally screamed in shock and joy. Actress Kim Hye-soo is one of my very favorite actress. She's. Got. Class. Her wonderful acting skills aside, I just love her for her. She's a sophisticated lady in real life, who's got an unbeatable charisma and she does not make sexy look cheap.

I was surprised to see her acting as a cameo in an entire episode and upon some Googling, I found out how this came to be. According to the director of the drama, her appearance as Teacher Kim's first lover was highly recommended by none other than Han Seok-Kyu, himself!

February Film Actor Brand Reputation Rankings Revealed

On February 18, the Korea Business Research Institute revealed their brand reputation rankings for film actors based on their findings from 72,745,586 pieces of data gathered from January 16 to February 17.

“Goblin” star Gong Yoo takes first place for the second month in a row with a score of 10,728,767. He enjoyed a 39.24 percent increase from his January score.

Second place goes to Jo In Sung who recently returned with the movie “The King.” As for third place, Yoo Hae Jin got the spot with a brand reputation score of 4,625,614.
