Newsie
What would happen if different artists are to live together under one roof? This is what viewers will try to find out as new SBS variety program "Roommate" airs this Sunday, May 4. Originally set for broadcast on April 20, the show's first airing was postponed to two weeks later in respect to the Sewol Ferry tragedy. The show is positioned to be closer to the viewers than "Dad" and would feel more like a family than "Superman." The new show "Roommate" will try to get the viewers' attention with inviting content as it goes head to head with already established and popular variety shows, KBS 2TV Happy Sunday's "Superman Returns" and MBC Sunday Night's "Daddy! Where Are We Going?" "Roommate" will have 11 celebrities—actors Lee Dong Wook, Seo Kang Joon, and Park Min Woo, actress Hong Soo Hyun, singer-actor Shin Sung Woo, model-host Lee So Ra, 2NE1's Park Bom, After School's Nana, EXO's Chanyeol, comedian Jo Se Ho, and ultimate fighter Song Ga Yeon—living in a house with five rooms and 60 cameras ready to capture their every move. The program will show the various episodes that can happen in a 'sharehouse' which is gaining popularity among young people nowadays. While the strength of "Daddy! Where Are We Going?" and "Superman Returns" is in the warmth of the family, the strong point of "Roommate" is on the the interaction of the celebrities and the troubles they go through as they grow and make a new community inside the house. There is also a growing interest on the chemistry between the roommates, especially between Shin Sug Woo and Chanyeol, Seo Kang Joon and Park Min Woo, Lee Dong Wook and Jo Se Ho, Park Bom, Lee So Ra, and Song Ga Yeon, and Nana and Hong Soo Hyun. Couple selcas of the roommates—Shin Sung Woo and Chanyeol who has the greatest 'visual' even with their 24-year age gap, the "boyish" duo of Seo Kang Joon and Park Min Woo who are set to capture the hearts of the noonas, and the comic chemistry of Lee Dong Wook and Jo Se Ho that can knockdown even the production crew—taken during filming were uploaded on the official homepage of the show, raising the anticipation of viewers even more. Teaser videos showing the bare faces of the roommates were also released. One video showed playful Nana and Hong Soo Hyun who were getting ready to sleep while another video showed Lee So Ra, Park Bom, and Song Ga Yeon breaking into unstoppable laughter. "The connection among the artists is good so even when the filming was finished, they didn't go and still stayed. They're still at the shoot location and taking a nap," shared Park Sang Hyuk PD. "Roommate" will start broadcasting at SBS on Sunday, May 4, 4:40 p.m. (KST). View the full article
