Newsie Posted April 17, 2014 Share Posted April 17, 2014 In light of the recent Sewol Ferry tragedy, many TV networks are canceling the broadcast of their variety shows and dramas today, Thursday April 17, out of respect and to broadcast news updates. KBS is canceling the broadcast of its Thursday night variety show, "Happy Together." It will, however, air an episode of its daily drama "Sky Angel" and the third episode of its prime-time Wednesday-Thursday drama, "Golden Cross," whose broadcast was moved to today after its cancellation yesterday. MBC will continue to air its daily dramas "Shining Romance" and "Mother's Garden." The airing of the pilot episode of Kang Ho Dong's new variety show, "Star Gazing," has been canceled for tonight. MBC's prime time Wednesday-Thursday drama, "Cunning Single Lady," will air its final two episodes (15 and 16) back to back, bringing the series to an end. SBS has canceled the airing of its Thursday night variety show, "Hundred Year Guest- Jagiya," but has yet to decide on the cancellation of its Wednesday-Thursday prime-time drama, "Three Days," at the time of the writing of this article (6PM KST). Cable network tvN has decided to cancel various shows throughout the week, including the talk show 'Taxi" and the daily sitcom "Potato Star" for today, April 17, and the comedy skits shows "Comedy Big League" and "Saturday Night Live Korea" airing in the weekend. Music cable channel Mnet has canceled the airing of its Thursday weekly music show 'M!Countdown" and Block B's new reality TV show "5 Minutes Before Chaos" for April 17. On April 16, a ferry traveling from Incheon to Jeju Island and carrying 475 passengers sank off the coast of Jindo. Over 300 of the passengers were students from Danwon High School in Ansan, taking a school trip. As of 11AM KST on April 17, nine passengers are reported dead with 179 rescued and 287 still missing.
