B.A.P has recently been a hot topic with their upcoming, much anticipated first album “First Sensibility,” with title track “1004 (Angel).” But this time, it’s the B.A.P leader Bang Yong Guk in the spotlight, having been nominated for a Shorty Award, alongside other big names like Selena Gomez and Tom Hiddleston

Bang Yong Guk is one of the nominees for the “Social Media’s Best Charity” award for the 6th Annual Shorty Awards. The Shorty Awards is an annual award ceremony recognizing the best social media content creators from individuals to organizations in a variety of categories, including entertainment, tech & innovation, global issues, and so on. Four of the final nominees are chosen by tallying up millions of nomination tweets every year made from around the globe. Each category has seven finalists, including the top 4 nominated, and 3 chosen by a Shorty Awards Nominating Board formed from professional journalists all over the world. The winners will then be chosen by the Real-Time Academy. See the rest of the rules here!

Bang Yong Guk has previously revealed a desire to be an influential artist, and has continued to express an interest in donation and contribution to society. Moreover, he has actively participated in children’s support and relief organizations, and often dons the clothing and accessories for the charities, as well. On the first anniversary of B.A.P’s debut, he donated a manual pump to Africa under the name of the B.A.P's official fan club, “Baby.” On this the leader said, “I believe that idols aren’t stars, but should be role models.”

And B.A.P’s fans have been following suit. Recently, for B.A.P member Youngjae’s birthday, instead of sending presents, their fans helped out organizations such as the Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) and the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation.

Others nominated in the charity category include Selena Gomez, Tom Hiddleston, Misha Collins, Ian Somerhalder, and Zayn Malik (One Direction). See all the nominees here! Even in the midst of these huge names, the B.A.P leader is far in the lead with 2455 nominations. The nominations will continue until February 18, and the award ceremony will take place on April 7 in New York. This year, the awards will be broadcast live online. Tune in to see the results!

In other news, B.A.P’s first album is coming up fast on February 3, and they currently have a medley sneak peak available on Daum Music. Check it out!
