Several female celebrities whose names were caught up in rumors about a celebrity prostitution ring are taking legal actions against the netizens who started and spread the rumors.

On December 14 the Ansan Branch of Suwon District Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that a female celebrity prostitution ring scandal involving at least ten female celebrities is currently being investigated thanks to a lead from "broker A". Although no names were given, suggestions such as actress B who is known for her poised image, actress C who made her debut through a beauty pageant, and celebrity D from a girl group that’s currently split up were hinted at. This lead to rumors spreading on the internet that the Jo Hye Ryun was the Madam and that Lee Da Hae, Shinji, Kim Sarang, Solbi, and Hwang Soo Jung, among others were the celebrities involved in the prostitution ring.

Unsurprisingly, this did not take well with those named celebrities. Jo Hye Run, Lee Da Hae, Shinji, Kim Sarang, Solbi, and Hwan Soo Jung are among the first of those celebrities to make official statements declaring that they will take legal action against the netizens who started and played an important role in spreading the rumors.

Jo Hye Ryun was the first celebrity to make an official statement. Her agency said, "The rumors have had significant emotional damage on the Jo Hye Ryun. The fast traveling rumors have already hurt family and friends, and so to prevent anymore damage we will be requesting a police investigation to find the user who started the rumors."

Lee Da Hae's agency's legal team has already taken action against the instigators. "The spread and damage of the rumors have gotten to a point that it cannot be ignored. We must take into consideration that there may be similar situations in the future, so we will take legal action to make this case into an example."

The other celebrities and their agencies made similar statements, all putting emphasis on the damage these kind of rumors can have on a female celebrity and that it has come to a point where they cannot keep silent about it. All the celebrities also declared that their involvement in the rumors were unfounded and untrue.
