Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – October Week 4

Recommended Posts

It is not a surprise that IU’s “The Red Shoes” moves up to the top spot this week with a near perfect score as this song has dominated all Korean charts in the past week. Besides this title song, all songs from IU’s third album “Modern Times” are ranked very high on many online charts. In fact, she nearly swept the top 10 on some. With year-end awards not far away from now, IU’s release is on very good timing. She is trying to win the top female soloist on our Soompi Gayo Awards for the third straight year. It will all depend on how long “The Red Shoes” will stay hot.

Last week’s top two songs are still going strong as both Busker Busker’s “First Love” and Lim Chang Jung’s “About Me” moves down a spot to No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

There are only two new songs in the top 10 this week. Just under the top three is T-ara’s latest hit “No. 9,” moving up 19 spots to No. 4. This song is one of the two title tracks from T-ara’s eighth mini-album “Again.”  It is a dance number written by Shinsadong Tiger and Choi Gyu Sung with an addictive retro-style melody and sad lyrics.

Last week, Jung Joon Young’s “Spotless Mind” was one of the new songs in the top 10. This week, he debuts with his official mini-album title song “The Sense Of An Ending.” It is a rock ballad about the uneasiness of a man whose girlfriend is going to break up with him. It is our highest debut at No. 7.
