Tasmanian-born Mary looks relaxed as she strolls through the bustling Salamanca market in Hobart with her son Christian

The Danish princess, who was accompanied on the outing by her father John and sister Patricia, enjoyed browsing the stalls as one of the crowd

Denmark's Princess Mary was just like any other weekend shopper she enjoyed a trip to a local market on Saturday in her hometown of Hobart. The stylish mum is keeping her Aussie visit as low-key as possible to enjoy time with her family and friends before returning to her royal duties.

Casually dressed in a camel jacket and jeans, Mary browsed several stalls along with her sister Patricia Bailey, her two nieces and father John Donaldson. Her husband Crown Prince Frederik opted out of the shopping excursion while their son Prince Christian happily snoozed in his pram under a blanket.

The one-year-old, who is affectionately nicknamed Kingaroo in Australia, made a brief appearance at one point, however, to receive an affectionate peck on the cheek from his devoted mum.

As wife of the future king of Denmark, Mary's wardrobe is well stocked with couture gowns and fabulous jewels but the 34-year-old looked keen to snap up some bargains. The princess, who is three months pregnant with her second child, stopped to check out some leather handbags and handmade beaded necklaces as well as tourist memorabilia.

Tasmanian-born Mary, who last visited Australia in March 2005 when she was two-months pregnant with Christian, is relaxing with her family at her sister Jane Stephens' home in West Hobart.

It has been revealed that Mary, who is currently enjoying a trip to her homeland with husband Frederik and their son Christian, amended her pre-nup agreement just before setting off for Australia

princess-mary-1a.jpg

Days before flying out to Australia with her family, Princess Mary of Denmark agreed to remove passages from her pre-nuptial agreement, including one which ordered her husband Prince Frederick to pay for a "new, suitable house" should they divorce.

clause which said her husband had to pay a one-off sum of money to his wife as a supplement to her new household has also been removed, according to leaked details. The surprising changes apparently reveal the delicate state of Denmark's finances and highlight the fact that, despite being heir to the throne, Prince Frederik has no assets, relying instead on income from the civil list.

He receives an annual sum of £1.5 million which is mostly spent on running his household and paying for staff. Until he inherits the throne from his mother Queen Margrethe he won't hold any assets of his own.

The changes to the pre-nup come after his younger brother Prince Joachim was forced to sell a 399-year-old historical inn belonging to his Schackenborg Castle estate to pay for a mansion - valued at just under £800,000 - for his ex-wife Princess Alexandra.

Tasmanian-born Mary, who is pregnant with the couple's second child, signed the original pre-nup on the day of her marriage in May 2004. She will still be allowed alimony under Danish law should she and Frederik ever split.

Denmark's Prince Christian was bearing a distinct likeness to a Teletubby this week after his mum made sure he was wrapped up warm in a padded, one-piece suit.

And the cute result had family members cooing over the one-year-old prince, who was on the receiving end of plenty of cuddles from both his mother Princess Mary and his grandpa Prince Henrik. Henrik and Queen Margethe were no doubt thrilled to spend time with the tot, as he has only just returned from a visit with mum and dad to Mary's native Tasmania.

The pre-Christmas get-together for the annual royal hunt was at Fredensborg Castle on the island of Zealand. This time next year there will be another addition to the family, as Mary is expecting her second child in May.
