Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 - August Week 5

Recommended Posts

EXO’s “Growl” becomes the first song in the last two months to spend more than one week on top of our chart. It repeats as No. 1 after sweeping the music show rankings again last week.  The competition is unreal this summer as all the big names in K-Pop are releasing new songs.  Some of the regular chart toppers can’t even reach No. 1. It’s good that at the end of summer we finally have a song that may be the hit of this season. “Growl” is still going very strong so it has a great chance to be No. 1 again next week.

Speaking of the hit of this summer, Crayon Pop’s “Bar Bar Bar” is certainly qualified for this title as well.  This week they switched place with 2NE1’s “Do You Love Me” and moved up to No. 2 again. Crayon Pop finally won their first No. 1 this week as “Bar Bar Bar” won the K-Chart of KBS Music Bank. Let see if it is enough for a win here next week.

There are two new songs in the top 10 this week.  Moving up 15 spots to No. 7 is R&B vocalist Bumkey’s second straight top 10 hit “Attraction.” This song was produced by hit maker Double Sidekick along with Bumkey himself. Dynamic Duo, who was friends with Bumkey since his trainee days, is featured in this track. The music video of this song features Crayon Pop's Ellin. With back to back top 10 hits to start his career, Bumkey is one of the leading candidates for the best new artist award this year.

Huh Gak returns to the top 10 this week with “That You’re Mine,” moving up six spots to No. 8.  This song is of reggae style, which Huh Gak has never tried before. Rising rap star Swings has also delivered the punch line and the trendy melody rap to complete the track.
