And she asked because she want to know what kind type a man of YSJ is, and she is happy by hearing YSJ answer and told him that "our captain is very innocent". Then she can trust YSJ. That's my take of the scene. today is wednesday assaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! Let's build our tent troopers... maulidha169
Kim Ji Won was not what Jin Goo had expected? Actor Jin Goo relayed his first impression of his co-star Kim Ji Won, who plays his love interest in 'Descendants of the Sun,' during his April 12 appearance on MBC FM4U's 'Park Kyung Lim's 2 O'Clock Date.' "Kim Ji Won in a beverage CF left a deep impression," he revealed. "Our company even said that we should recruit her. I thought she was a tomboy, but when I saw her in real life, she was a mature woman with sincerity and charisma. "When I saw the script, I imagined the character Yoon Myung Joo as a tall and glamorous female soldier. That's why I wondered whether she could take on that image, but on the day of her fitting for her soldier uniform, all of the male staff members were [in awe]." search : allkpop

angelicXD
How is he a bad bf just because he serves and pledge his allegience to his country? Shouldn't you be proud to have a bf like him? He dies, he die in honor. Its going to be hard to taks his death because imagine you love this guy so much. However, the world is not all about just you and your bf. He's always been in this field his whole life, he can't just change because he has a gf who he loves more than any girls out there. That's why MY is such a strong character, she doesn't like it but she's going to deal with it. If she can't deal with it, doesn't mean he's a bad bf. He already made it clear, he loves her. But his love is going to be share with his country. He's just a patriotic, loyal and honorable man. I think he's a great man and whoever gets to be with a guy like this once in their life would be proud. The death is alwalys looming close by due to his dangerous job but then just as many people die out there without being a soldier. Anyway, its not like the guy isnt making adjustment. From just randomly disapearing, hes making the effort to tell her he's going on a dangerous mission. Both character loves their job. it would be unfair for either one to quit. They will resent each other at the end. anyway, i think this is sjk when he was in the military. Popular Post smiletall
On 4/11/2016 at 8:08 AM, vu_hoa1983 said: By saying flaw, do you mean the flaw that prevents him from being a perfect boyfriend, not a human flaw, right?? I mostly agree with you about SJ's intention in saving MY in VIP and kidnapping incidents. ... @happifruit @vu_hoa1983 I agree with both of you. KES writes her male protagonists as persistent and charismatic, but also, pretty selfish (in my opinions). They are generally so sure of their love for the heroine that they just continue to pursue despite any doubts/concerns she has. And this is part of the female fantasy.. that there is guy who will love you beyond a doubt. Who will go to the ends of the earth for you. So.. having said that, I do not think KES was just joking when she mentioned in a prior interview that she believed DOTS was her best fantasy to date. Because YSJ is literally written to be a knight in shining white armor. BUT the other aspect that is really important to a successful KES drama: casting of the male protagonist. And when I was reading articles about how SJK was not the first choice and other actors much more masculine had been considered, but that the director knew it was going to work out when he saw SJK in uniform, I knew that he must have predicted that SJK would for sure gain popularity (even if it wasn't to this extent). Because SJK's face is very likeable and friendly. Also the fact that he is not so overwhelmingly masculine also is probably more attractive and approachable to Korean female viewers. But he also gives enough of a masculine appeal that he doesn't look like a little boy playing pretend in soldier clothes. And that's where his timing of having matured in the army helped. And I feel like the two years or so away helped him break away from the "cute" image which was so strongly associated with him prior. So, I actually don't think there would be a similar SJK/YSJ syndrome if another actor would have taken the role (definitely not as huge), because the character's flaws wouldn't be as well covered for by simply the actor himself. SO when you take away all these aspects and just consider the character YSJ himself and the lines he says to KMY, all the lies he constantly tells her, and how he keeps pushing her to accept his feelings despite her figuring her own drama out, OH MAN, he is pretty much a wolf (maybe a noble one) wrapped up in sheep's clothing. AND actually, his cartoon character as a fox is pretty on point lol. And in terms of putting his country before the woman he loves, I don't think that's completely true either. I've said it before, but YSJ lives according to his own code of justice: protect the beautiful, children, and the old. And he's been consistent to holding true to this belief, even if it meant standing up against his country as a soldier. I think to him, being a soldier most closely aligns to his sense of justice and he is proud to protect his country, BUT he also would still do what he feels is just and right even if it means going against orders and maybe pushing aside his feelings for KMY. If he thinks something needs to be done, he will do it. And its also in this way I feel like he is selfish in another sense because ultimately, he does what he believes is right no matter what. I feel like if I had been reading this story in form of a manga/manhwa, I would have been pretty done with his character a couple times. But SJK adds a lot to YSJ's charm. And that's a major credit to him. On the other hand, I've always been keen to praise KMY as a character because she get's so overshadowed by YSJ, but is actually one of the most well-balanced heroines in a kdrama I've come across. She is strong and smart, but not in an obnoxious way. She can also be sweet and witty. And I do strongly believe she has shown far more depth than YSJ, because it's her character that ultimately really changes to accept YSJ, not vice verse. YSJ is allowed to continue to run around and doesn't really make any major changes or goes through any major development in terms of their relationship (at least yet..) while KMY really needs to dig deep to see if she can accept his world into her own. SO beyond the realism of YSJ's instant recovery, excessive PPL, YSJ's lackluster recognition of KMY's concern for him, etc. in ep 14, it was really the fact that the writers robbed KMY and the viewers of the opportunity to have KMY save YSJ's life in a significant way that really irked me. I can forgive all the other stuff, because it's a kdrama. Especially because it's a crack kdrama. But having KMY operate and use her skills to save YSJ would have been a super amazing and important dichotomy and development in their relationship. He would have had to acknowledge he is not superman, but human and vulnerable, and that it's ok to rely on others. It would have been just a great moment because how many times did YSJ save her life.. from pretty ridiculous situations. So in that sense, I can still see how much KES prefers to build up her male "hero" vs. the female protagonist. Still, KMY is a far better female protagonist than I could have hoped for from KES based on her past dramas, so I guess that counts for something. But despite all this, I still have really enjoyed DOTS and I still will fangirl over SJK/YSJ and SHK/KMY. hahaha It's such a crack kdrama.. I'm committed. I think ep 15 will be a rough one though.. if not the first half (which might be super sweet), then the latter half or just at the end will probably be major cliff hanger hahah. I really hope ratings go up!! At least for the ep 16 so DOTS can end on a high note. If they even hit 35% nationally I think that would be amazing.
Popular Post IrisFM
Please support DOTS all the way. I know some chingus are feeling a bit let down from what I've read in here and elsewhere with rumoured spoilers (which we don't know how creditable they are) but don't give up hope on your dream of a happy ending. I'm glad to start my journey with DOTS and this is also my very first time to participate in a drama discussion thread publicly, though I'm not good at providing insights and so thanks to all the wonderful and talented chingus in here whom have done a wonderful job to help me understand the characters much better. And everyone else for sharing comic strips, artworks, pics, news and your love for DOTS. I will miss this thread too but will remember an enjoyable journey I have had with the chingus in here. Popular Post kdramad
To the people who still feel uneasy about the ending: Don't forget that the last OST being released is a lovely/romantic one. Junsu's OST has been played in the drama for quite some time now but for some reason they decided to release it last along with the ending of the drama; they could have released it since ep 8 when we first heard it but it has been kept for the final week, that must mean something. Also, don't forget that the OST's being released weekly usually play in the ending of their respective week's episode(s); and since I think ep 15 will end on a cliffhanger it means that Junsu's OST will most likely play in the end of ep 16, meaning that our ending will be lovely and romantic. I mean why would they release a lovely OST with a lovely MV for last if the drama ends sadly? It doesn't make sense. And don't forget that we will have an epilogue, if the ending is sad and tragic I don't see why they would give us an epilogue. So please don't fear the ending and sit back and enjoy this last ride with DOTS. I'm already having a hard time accepting that my beloved drama is coming to an end, I'm gonna miss these characters a lot

mulder9999
Great post @smiletall you said exactly what I thought about ep14... i felt cheated when ep 14 1st aired and made a similar comment that the writers dropped the ball and we should have been shown how KMY used her medical skills more in saving YSJ. Like you mention YSJ saved KMY so many times, that this was an opportunity to turn the tables and KMY save him and show YSJ is vulnerable as well. only 13 hours to go
Popular Post angieknows
To be honest, a large part of me has somewhat avoided this thread because of the rampant discussions about the rumored ending. Since such talk is unavoidable, it's been better for me to loiter my carcass in a more uplifting thread (KiKyo! ). This way, it also hasn't taken away from my experience of enjoying the show. I'd rather be ignorant of possible spoilers and just take in the show as is. People often wonder why this drama is number one when its plot is flimsy and the story has become a bit disjointed lately, but I think DOTS is popular because ultimately, it is simply entertaining. (And do you need a plot-heavy show to be entertaining? Based on Descendants of the Sun's record-breaking ratings and massive international appeal, that's a no.) I'm about to break an unspoken rule between bloggers ... Thou shalt not talk smack about the other ... but ... Thou shalt not talk smack about the other ... but this has been bothering me for some time, and seeing as some here have referred to her anxiety-inducing articles (regarding the possible spoilers), I feel people need to be more judicious about what they read and spread. With regards to that certain popular blog, I still respect the author's way of writing, but as an educated blogger, she has become disappointing. Her DOTS-related articles have made me realize how she has sometimes given misinformation to her readers. Her misinformation also covers non-DOTS topics; it has happened other times in the past. Her own readers have even corrected her, and even then, it seems she does little or any to edit her posts to reflect the correction. She is influential, and as such, her specious findings/observations are allowed to metastasize unchallenged. I don't know if it's lazy writing or ignorant confidence, but on that blogger's part, there's a lack of effort to fact-check. And she absolutely does not credit her sources, which is a rather hypocritical practice for someone who once made a stink about her materials being lifted/copied. There is an eagerness to hand out anything DOTS-related, even if it's deficient in sense and fact, partly because a DOTS-related article is click bait. The post gets high hits on her blog, especially since it's a successful drama. (This was the case with "Heirs," which she continued to cover despite her unabashed contempt for it.) Exploiting DOTS's popularity to such an extent has made that site feel like a tabloid at times. There have also been times when her bias against Song Hye Kyo (and other artists) has impaired her usually keen sense of logic. The information she comes across is the same kind that has been shared here on this thread and Baidu and so on ... and you're better off getting the right answers/facts from a lot of wiser and more rational Soompi-ers on this thread. So, please, be a prudent reader and practice common sense. I'm sorry to rant, but I have to be honest. I can't stand it when people who hold so much sway wield it so irresponsibly. Please don't let these rumored spoilers eat away from your enjoyment of the show. Just go with the program because if there's anything last week showed (or if there's anything the DOTS writers have consistently shown), it is that the developments have been unpredictable each episode. Lastly, keep up with the hard work and insightful discussions! Edit Darn! I was hoping the spoiler stills that would be released today would be of Mo Yeon and Shi Jin on their campout.
mizuki85
Sorry for reposting these, I guess, KMY got the news that Alpha Team is looking contact with YSJ. This scene probably come out after MY SJ camped and when they go back working, go troubles back. To be honest, my heart beats so every time SJ go to the department store, I d better see him resign and turn to normal life. I m wondering, is that so tense working as an agent like YSJ? It seems just like down and up and down and death threats are always accompanying him every time he deals with mission. Oh...writers, I m quoting yours, my friend, writers Kim, DONT PLAYING GAMES WITH OUR HEART, OUR HEART, OUR HEART.... *I kinda believe that when alpha team looking contact with SJ (this is what some believe), MY is looking for SJ till her heart follows her to go back to Urk and find a standing familiar person near abandoned wreckship and ends. 'MMM...with this kind of ending. I m to be honest a bit disappointed. Edited April 13, 2016 by mizuki85 Edited
