'Descendants of the Sun' most searched keyword on Weibo

SEOUL, March 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korean TV series "Descendants of the Sun" has been the most popular search keyword on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

As of Wednesday, the tale of romance between a soldier (Song Joong-ki) and a doctor (Song Hye-kyo) in a fictional war-torn country in the Mediterranean was searched 74.5 billion times on the social networking website, beating all other keywords by a large margin.

The KBS 2TV show premiered in both South Korea and China on Feb. 24. In China, the show is released every Wednesday and Thursday night on the local streaming website iQiyi.

 

The "Descendants of the Sun" syndrome has also given rise to die-hard fans in China who call the South Korean actor "qianmin laogong," or the national husband figure, and themselves "xiaolaopo," his mistress, a Chinese entertainment official said, adding his other monikers include "liaomei nansun," or heartthrob.

Some fans have set his picture as the background of their smartphone chat rooms and tried to communicate in short sentences to keep his face visible on the screen, the official said.

Song Hye-kyo, Yoo Ah-in spotted together

Actress Song Hye-kyo and actor Yoo Ah-in were spotted together getting close. 

Fashion stylist Chae Han-suk posted his picture with the two stars on his Instagram on Wednesday. The three of them look very close at a restaurant.
 

“With my family Kyo and Sik (Yoo’s real name is Eom Hong-sik). I love you and thank you. But I am drunk,” Chae wrote. 

Song and Yoo, who are both signed under United Artists Agency, have shown strong friendship in the past. Yoo recently sent a surprise food truck for the staff members of Song’s “Descendants of the Sun” to support and is also making a surprise cameo appearance in the drama.

As far as I know Kim Eun Sook Drama (Secret Garden,Gentlement Dignity,The Heirs) all of them are happy ending........So DOTS will be happy ending too....... #FIGHTIN!!#

Just something i came across, Dr Kang saved the Arab president in episode 4 and was given a VIP card. 

Do you think this will come into play in the future episodes when KMY is kidnapped?  will the arabs help the captain rescue Dr Kang?

I do think the card will come up, but I'm not sure it will be related to her kidnapping. Maybe when SJ is being a bodyguard/wearing the black suit?  I'm sure they card will be used to get SJ out of trouble or to help him or for him in some way since he used his card to go out on a date with her.  

As for deaths...seriously don't worry about any main character death until ep. 15 or 16.   You can worry then maybe, but right now nobody is dying.  We already have enough spoilers to know that lol.

I normally skip all the kiss scenes in Asian dramas (Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese) because they are usually so awkward that I get embarrassed for the actors and actresses.  But I have finally discovered a kiss scene that is worth the long wait.  I love love the kiss that KMY initiates after she confesses to him on the back of the truck.  I have probably watched it more than 20x; however, I never get tired of it.  I liked that since it was initiated by her, the camera was focused on her reaction and facial expressions.  If you contrast this to YSJ's first kiss, it was mostly from his perspective since the camera was focused on him.  His kiss was guarded since he wasn't sure if she'll accept him; however, now that KMY is fully ready to accept YSJ's feelings, her kiss is open and not guarded.  How can anyone look this gorgeous while doing a kiss scene!  Anyways, to me, this is the best asian drama kiss I have ever seen.

their chemistry is amazing.

The wine kiss scene in episode 4 and 5 was not done in 1 take.  .

in episode 4 the captain's hand is on KMY shoulder when he kisses.

but in episode 5 his hand is on KMY chin when he kisses.  so obviously they did that scene more than once.

This is an unpopular opinion..but Asparagus is so hot and attractive. Owh and Daniel too.  LOL

Good job to the casting team for choosing them. Next, we'll be having Yoo Ah In..as if Song Joong Ki alone is still not enough to make my heart skip multiple beats.

yeah...it's WEDNESDAY, the most awaited day...while waiting for the new episode, it's never get bored to re-watch the previous episodes & i still can't get over this scene ... It's just so sweet & beautiful. Best kiss scene ever!

If only KES had written a love line for Mr. Asparagus then maybe he wouldn't be busy derailing our OTP's lovelife. Can we please introduce sexy waitress to Mr. Asparagus, then he can retire from his life of illegal activities and help her manage that bar/restaurant. Everyone lives happily ever after , YSJ and KMY kiss again and drive off into the sunset.
