Actress Ko Ah-seong will join Si Wan. It is a perfect pairing up of A-list actors. Ko Ah-seong has been offered the female lead in movie 'Thinking of My Older Brother' starring Si Wan.
She has been offered the female leading role for 'Thinking of My Older Brother' and is wrapping up the last stage to conclude the offer. As far as there is no significant interference, it will be her next project.
'Thinking of My Older Brother' is director Lee Han's new film, who produced "Punch" and 'Elegant Lies'. It will start filming soon. This human drama depicts the stories of children's choir that actually existed during Korean War. Ko Ah-seong will play pianist for the choir, pairing up with Si Wan, with the expectations on their warm chemistry.
Since the movie depicts humanism in the set of wartime and the two young popular actor and actress will join in the film, it is attracting much attention.
As Ko Ah-seong appeared in 'Elegant Lies' previously, it will work out pretty well for her when working again with diector Lee Han.
Since Ko Ah-seong delivered the oustainding performance in "The Host", 2006, she became one of the next generation A-lister actresses for her role in "Snowpiercer". Ko Ah-seong also has been receiving good reviews for her role in SBS' 'Heard It Through the Grapevine' in terms of her mature and impressive acting performances.

Siwan, Go to star in new film
By Jin Min-ji INSIDE Korea JoongAng Daily

photo581215.jpg
Actress Go Ah-sung and actor Siwan are slated to team up for “Brother’s Thought,” the new film by director Lee Han.
The movie, set around the 1950-53 Korean War, is based on a children’s choir from that era and centers on a soldier who attempts to protect and mentor a group of children that have lost everything in the conflict.
Siwan plays a second lieutenant with deep scars from the war, while Go’s protagonist, the children’s caregiver, holds tight to her hopes and conviction despite dangerous circumstances.
Siwan originally debuted as a singer in the boy band ZE:A and is currently working to build up his acting career. He previously starred in film “The Attorney” (2013), as well as the drama “Triangle” (2014) and the hugely popular “Misaeng” (2014).
Go was honored at the 2007 Blue Dragon Film Awards for her performance in the film “The Host.” She took to the silver screen in “Snowpiercer” (2013) and “Elegant Lies” in 2014. She currently stars in the drama “Heard it Through the Grapevine.”

K-Drama Trend: Return of the Nice Guy
by kokoberry Soompi.com
Jang-Geu-RaeReturnofTheNiceGuy-800x450.j
Have you noticed the recent trend of nice guys in male lead roles in K-Dramas? Sure, plenty of bad boys get reformed and transformed because of the girl they love and end up becoming a nice guy. That’s pretty unrealistic in real life though. Recently, there has been an increasing number of nice guys who are nice from beginning to end, true nice guys. They are different from the stereotypical bad boys, but they are not pushovers either. Let’s take a look at some recent K-Drama nice guys and let us know whether you prefer bad boys or nice guys.
ImSiWanJangGeuRae.jpg
Im Siwan‘s character in “Misaeng” was heartrendingly kind and resilient. He was the ultimate underdog we were all rooting for. I don’t think viewers would have rooted for him if he hadn’t had a heart of gold. He was a dutiful son and a hard worker. Didn’t your heart break every time he faced a hardship? Although he faced many struggles before and after becoming an intern at One International, he never blamed anyone else. While Jang Geu Rae is far from a bad boy, he is capable of punching someone. Since he’s such an affable guy, he ends up becoming friends with that guy too. Jang Geu Rae hwaiting!

Those were five of the most recent nice guys in K-Dramaland. Who do you think is the nicest guy? Vote in the poll below and share your comments!

Thank you for voting!Jang Geu Rae 21.46%   Ho Gu 21.42%   Han In Sang 7.97%   Park Noh Ah 2.51%   Cha Do Hyun 46.64%

More than an Idol Star:

How Did Yim Si-wan Become Jang Geu-rae?

Source: KOFICE (2014.11.14)

ZE:A is an idol group whose members’ individual works have garnered more attention than the group as a whole. More eye-catching alone than in a group, the members were able to somewhat shake off the teen idol image once they began their own projects.

Yim Si-wan, too, is relatively free from the “idol star” label because the spotlight that fell on him was on Yim Si-wan the actor, not the idol singer. After catching the public’s eye with his performance in “Moon Embracing the Sun,” he continued his acting career with “Man from the Equator,” 2-episode drama “Waiting for Love,” and the 10-million-admission movie “The Attorney” and won the audience over with his good looks and acting skills.

Yim Si-wan’s forte is his image as an actor. Even many of those who are critical about casting idol stars give the thumbs up to Yim Si-wan. It goes on to show that Yim Si-wan’s acting and image have gained the confidence of the audience.

But Yim Si-whan is not without a critical weakness. With his pretty, boyish face and slim frame, there is a limit to how much he can portray in dramas that have a love plot. It is difficult to portray a convincing love relationship or a realistic picture when the male protagonist is prettier and smaller than the heroine. Yim Si-whan has a young, boyish image that makes his chemistry with actresses look rather unreal.

In the recently ended drama “Triangle,” Yim Si-wan played the role of an ambitious character. But the weak, commonplace storyline failed to bring out his character or convince the viewers of his one-sided love for Baek Jin-hee. There were conflicting reactions to Yim Si-wan as an actor.

That was when he chose tvN’s “Misaeng.” He is already Jang Geu-rae of the drama. “Misaeng” is ruthlessly realistic and brutally vivid. If the drama were aired on a major terrestrial channel and based on his love relationship with Kang So-ra, people would have questioned whether Yim Si-wan is fit for the role. But thanks to the storyline that closely follows the original comic, “Misaeng” is attracting more viewers, and Yim Si-wan is keeping the drama fueled with his performance.

The despair and difficulties of a high-school graduate intern, office politics that place more importance on interpersonal skills than competence, the woes of female workers, the top-to-bottom relationship that stunts teammates’ growth than encourages it, and other realistic presentations are resonating with the viewers more strongly than love relationships and dramatic events. Of course, there is fantasy in “Misaeng” as well. Team leader Mr. Oh (Lee Sung-min) is not an everyday mentor one finds at the workplace. But these fantasy elements are used only as a tool for exposing the problems of the reality. Mr. Oh has both the ability and the passion to get a promotion, but he is never given the opportunity, much to the viewers’ disdain.

The biggest strength of “Misaeng” is that it formed a rapport with the viewers through detailed investigation and research. Second, there are no holes in the actors’ performance. Yim Si-wan’s acting is so natural that one forgets that he is a member of an idol group. It is not surprising then that the public’s opinion on Yim Si-wan is turning from good to better. It was a smart choice on Yim’s part to take on a character that the viewers can sympathize with, despite his pretty face and slim frame, and not simply act but become that character.

If Yim Si-hwan had chased stardom and chosen the over-used wealthy son character and love story, he would not have attained this kind of achievement. Through “Misaeng,” Yim Si-wan has shown what his strengths are, and as long as he keeps making smart choices, the viewers will harbor interest in what the future holds for the actor Yim Si-wan.

class="at_ttl"Four Actor Idols Are Up For Baeksang Awards

Im Siwan

It's true that idols are often cast in dramas to attract k-pop fans but that does not mean they won't turn out to be great actors. In the past few years several idols-turned-actors have impressed audiences with their talent and on the process racked up some acting awards. This year's Baeksang Awards include four idol-actors in the Best New Actor category.

That's four out of five contenders.

The candidates for Best New Actor in a drama are ZE:A's Im Si Wan, ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik, EXO's D.O. aka Do Kyun Soo and former MBLAQ member Lee Joon.

Im Si Wan is nominated for his role as the former badul player and determined office worker Jang Geu Rae in the workplace drama "Misaeng." The drama became a surprise hit because so many young professionals identified with the struggles faced by the smart and yet unprepared Jang Geu Rae. Before that drama, Im Si Wan also scored a hit playing brother to Lee Bum Soo and Kim Jae Joong in "Triangle."

His band mate Park Hyung Sik was nominated for his role as Cha Dal Bong in "What Happens to My Family." Since his breakout role in "Nine: Nine Time Travels," the young actor also appeared in "The Heirs" and "Persevere, Goo Hae Ra." He has landed a role in the upcoming drama "Chaebol's Daughter"

(skipped unrelated.....)

The ceremony will take place at Seoul's Kyung Hee University on May 26, 2015, with broadcast on jTBC.

Noteworthy Comments from the ′51st Paeksang Arts Awards′

CJ E&M enewsWorld Grace Danbi Hong

It was a night of prestige and honor as many actors were awarded for their excellent performances in the past year at the 51st Paeksang Arts Awards, which was held on May 26 at the Kyunghee University Grand Peace Palace.

While there were plenty of pictures of dazzling stars dressed to the nines, it was the words that were spoken that left lasting impressions.

Here are just a selection of them.

23254794.jpg

"If you receive this award, will you ′suzy matda′?"

With Lee Min Ho nominated to receive an award, MC Shin Dong Yeop turned to the actor, asking this play-on-words question. Suzy matda means to receive an unexpected gain. Lee Min Ho is also known to currently be dating miss A′s Suzy.

"I want to thank my parents for giving me the best face to become a comedienne."

Upon winning the Female Variety Award in Television, comedienne Lee Guk Joo remembered to thank her parents.

"To all the Jang Geuraes of this world, let′s all work hard together."

Receiving the New Actor Award in Television for his performance in tvN′s Misaeng, ZE:A′s Im Si Wan shared this word of encouragment.

"Aren′t you curious about who my mother is?"

Actress Kim Sarang said these words to Park Jin Young as they stood to present an award together. Park Jin Young then said he needs to see her from the back, following it up with "God, girl!" Park Jin Young then added that he hopes to see her at his next music video.

"It′s been three years since I became a celebrity. I wasn′t able to become Shin Dong Yeop, but I became Jun Hyun Moo."

Receiving the Male Variety Award in Television, Jun Hyun Moo shared that he worked hard after leaving his announcer position in KBS and becoming a freelancer. He hilariously added that he prepared this comment last year.

"Are you watching, Im Si Wan? I win in fashion."

Coming out to present the award for Best Style Award for Male, ZE:A′s Park Hyung sik commented that he′s a better fashionista than his fellow group member, Im Si Wan, who was unwilling to admit it. Park Hyung Sik then asked his co-presenter, the editor of fashion magazine InStyle, who chose to raise Park Hyung Sik′s hand in victory.

"I want to thank all the permanent and temporary employees at One International′s Sales Team 3."

Staying in character of Chief Oh of Misaeng, Lee Sang Min expressed his thanks as he received the Actor Top Excellence Award in Television.

"These awards are great strengths to PDs, but ratings are a bigger source of strength. When you get to a slow part in KBS′ The Producers this week, turn the channel to tvN and Park Shin Hye will come out. Please watch a lot.

After receiving the Daesang in Television, Na Young Seok PD didn′t forget to promote Three Meals. He also shared in his acceptance speech, "People say that this is a program that I made, but I didn′t make it. It′s a program that was created together with brilliant writers and staff."
