Last Dec. 13, 2013, one day prior to the opening of their movie, the main leads of "The Liar and His Lover" namely Takeru Sato, Shohei Miura and Sakurako Ohara participated as the special guests in "Glitter8 - sparkling Fuji TV", the Christmas lighting ceremony of Fuji TV headquarters in Tokyo Odaiba, despite the cold weather.

The first-day screening of movie “Kanojo wa uso wo aishisugiteru” was held on 14 Dec at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills which was attended by the cast Sato Takeru, Ohara Sakurako, Miura Shohei, Yoshizawa Ryo, Aibu Saki, Sorimachi Takashi, music producer Kameda Seiji and the director Koizumi Norihiro. During the event, Sato presented flowers to his co-star Ohara and praised her for the hard work she put in for this movie which led Ohara to cry due to the surprise gesture. Having won the audition 18 months ago from a field of more than 5,000 hopefuls, Ohara who is in her first leading role in a movie, expressed her thanks to everyone and feels like she is at the starting line again, now that the movie is finally ready to be seen by the public.

Surprisingly, this movie is Sato’s first romance movie and he said that it was great to be in the company of his female co-stars this time because he was always surrounded by men in his previous works. Aibu who plays the diva Mari and has a relationship with Sato’s character, teased him for knowing how to film intimate scenes and taking the lead during the filming which made him look quite embarrassed. In response, he said that although the role of Mari was supposed to be a sexy woman, Aibu was quite shy in real life so he had to get her to be more relaxed in order for them to look more natural during those intimate scenes.

Miura who plays the vocalist of the band CRUDE PLAY in the movie, said that it was a short but fulfilling experience to be a singer since the band has already disbanded. However, if the movie becomes a hit, there is a likelihood that his band might be revived one day.

Asaka, who was wearing suits of loud pattern, shouted, ‘Today, ‘KanoUso’ Kokai (opening), Drums, Kodai, I’m Kodai!’ and set off laughter the casts, the staffs and the audience. Ohara, who had her movie debut in this film, nervously said, ‘I’m happy I was able to make a debut under the benevolent eye of wonderful casts and staffs. This is my treasure in my life.’ Kameda appealed smiling, ‘There are many highlights in this film, so you’ll miss them unless you watch it more than once!’ Koizumi also said seriously, ‘I hope we will be able to nurture this movie together with the audience.’

And in their talk, various episodes were revealed one after another. Sato and the members of CRUDE PLAY deepened their friendship through the music activities in the drama. Miura implied the continuation of CRUDE PLAY, saying, ‘We held many live concerts and that allowed us to mistake ourselves to be really musicians in a good sense. Our band has broken up with this movie, but if this movie became a big hit, it might make a comeback. It all depends on you!’ Also Aibu confessed that her sexy scene is fully embroidered with Sato’s advice, revealing Sato’s unexpected aspect: ‘Sato-san really knows what makes you sexy. I think we were able to make it a good scene.’ And Aibu and Ohara opened their love to each other, saying, ‘I love you!’ Aibu said how she felt when she hugged Ohara: ‘High school girls these days so cuddly!!’

After the talk of the casts, Sato surprised Ohara by presenting a bunch of flowers. ‘They may call it a ‘Cinderella story’. But I know how much effort you’ve made as Riko after you passed the audition. Congratulations on the opening of your debut film. I’m happy you are Riko.’ When Sato told her so, Ohara received the flowers bursting into tears and said in a choking voice, ‘I’m so surprised that I can’t say a word. Thank you very very much.’ When Sato added, ‘Today is your true debut in a proper sense. You’ll experience various things from now on, I suppose, but I hope I’ll be able to co-star with you somewhere. Yes, let’s do it together again’, Asaka started to cry in sympathy. The greeting finished, packed in the warm atmosphere.

Aki and Shun's back hug, from the manga to live action. The live action version did not appear in the movie, but during the day long promotion of the cast which was called "Kanouso Winter Festival" held last Dec. 8, 2013. Crude Play conducted a guerilla performance, without prior notice to the public at Marui City. Takeru Sato hurriedly jumped in after the band's two-song performance to greet the crowd along with the band members. Shohei Miura hugged Takeru Sato right after introducing him as a sign of gratitude for supporting their performance.
