I can't believe that Liu Tao as Princess Nihuang is going to be fighting !!! I love it when female leads  pick up the sword because it shows they have something to protect !! I'm even more excited for this drama and can't wait ... I hope they don't change the air date..

I look forward to watching this drama. @carmolita I agree, It's so awesome to see Liu Tao pick up a sword. I heard there won't be much interaction between Mei Changsu and Princess NiHuang... But after reading all the comments, it seems the writer will put in more interaction. I look forward to watching this drama. ^^

Two Pieces of news about Nirvana in Fire

1. Given the situation of Hunan TV being criticized by angry fans with their scissorhanding HuaQianGu, Beijing TV Channel made a solumn pledge to all viewers and fans on Weibo that they will present the complete version of Nirvana in Fire as the production team give them. NO SCISSORHANDING!!!!

 

2.  Nirvana in Fire will premiere in South Korea on October 19, one month later than its premiere in China. There will be korean subtitles. These are Korean posters. Anyone in this Forum know Korean language?

As for the Korean posters, I think I found the same ones as you, I can't see yours at the moment so I'm only guessing...but hte text is basically a character profile. It's the Korean translation of the Chinese ones.

Has Nirvana in fire developed a deep  international fan base?  The fact that its set to be broadcast in Korea gives me such high hopes for this drama!  And do you think that  Liu Tao will be able to pull of the fight scenes as Princess Nihuang ?

Hmmm....I'm not too sure about the international fanbase. I find that the more military focused dramas tend to get exported fairly quickly compared to either fantasy or modern day dramas. 

Liu Tao?....LOL well she has a spunkiness about her already so the attitude is there. Not sure about her physical capabilities...I've never really come across her until now.

Great News!

People can actually watch this show on TV. Nirvana in Fire will be aired on USA, from September 21, Monday to Friday, San Francisco, KTSF26, 21:00 - 22:00p.m.  I guess people who can understand Chinese will be happy to hear this news. Does anyone know that if American TV Channel have the habit of cutting dramas? If not, it's a blessing. Though NIF will air the fastest in China. Because we get 2 episodes each night.

When the production team tried to sell it overseas, they billed it as Chinese The Count of Monte Cristo. But many fans nicknamed it as Chinese Brokeback Mountain. The Republican-era drama The Disguiser, by the same production team made its debut with really high ratings and caused hot discussion on Chinese social media. To everyone's surprise, Fans favor bromance rather than romance. Some even hate the OTP.  It seems Shanying is really good at creating male characters rather than female characters. Have great expectations to bromance! 

You seem to take great interest in the little bodyguard, here it is. Spoiler Alert!

The boy has a sad past. He was trained to be a killing machine by an killer organization. They poisoned the boy and made him mentally-retarded but fierce in fighting. Mei Changsu saved him and took care of him.  The boy only follows his order. But Mei Changsu's friend, the carefree Langya Hall's master, Lin Chen enjoys playing and flirting with the boy.

About the bromance department, Mei Changsu will have bromance with Prince Jing, General Meng, the little bodyguard Feiliu, Langya Hall Master Lin Chen.  They are Team Red Flame Army.

AHAHAHAHAH bromance works because there isn't all that weird jealousy and catfighting. Guys just fight it out if they have annoyances with each other. Can't wait for it to start this Sunday ^.^

As for US shows...they buy it however the production company produces it. The networks don't ever edit the shows themselves.

2 episodes....EVERY NIGHT!?!??! oh no  no sleep for me for the next month...
