LOL.. @snowlou @partyon ~ I have a real fondness for makjang because it mostly makes you laugh. I have some really great memories of watching such dramas with family members and everyone is mad commenting and we are all laughing. with dramas like king, people have a meltdown when someone criticizes the plot or the actor. in makjang dramas, we are laughing at everything. am watching this daily at the moment and I have nicknamed the male lead as "robot" and female lead as "half brain impulsive heroine." you can't do that with other type of dramas. people would throw tomatoes at you. here, chingus tag me and post "don't blink lmangla, the robot might just show some emotion in the next episode" :joy:

@triplem me also rooting for Ho Jun from the beginning. And Jang Ki Yong's actor is way too young in real life. I like 'mature' actors and actresses. I think so far in kdramas..i havent suffered 2nd lead syndrome..hmm. Oh yes...YYs and Ho Jun also went travelling together in YOF

@Lmangla are you sure you re not watching comedy?:joy: or makjang = comedy? Dont think so from the definition you gave previously (and Secret is def not a comedy).

kekeke... @snowlou ~ makjang is life! and filled with plot twists! hahahaha... basically it can be hilarious even when it is not meant to be. I admit that even with serious melodramatic makjang like secret, there were parts of the drama that I was laughing.

this was my ode to makjang a few years back:

(wrote it under another name: night owl; the post has a clear explanation of makjang. :D )

@kokodus LoL.... its Ok... I watch dramas based on my moods.. so sometimes.. I watch things other people don't and when others was hyping other drama, I don't care at all hahaha..

Anyway, I have friends that do watch TKEM so I just tune in to their ranting ... likes and dislikes :P

@Lawyerh UTP was good I teared up a lot of times at the ending!

(run away form angie now.. because I had only watch 1 episode, which is YES, the ending... I promise, I'll watch properly someday @angelangie ... pinky promise... )

It had just show up on my viki chanel the other day.. so I played it.. UTP is a well made drama for sure!

Doesn't love her story or doesn't love Cinderella story??

:D At this point her story, cinderella story, and anybody else's story is all merged into one hot mess.

I forgot what blog article it was but it seems her City Hall (haven't watched) was the last non-cringe inducing script. But it wasn't a commercial success. Then she wrote Secret Garden (couldn't watch beyond ep 6 on two separate viewing attempts) which was a cult hit but could hardly be counted as smart plot.  And since then she has been at it.

Honestly I don't have the brains to understand the layers she writes into her plot. So I rely on other viewers analysis and comments.

OMGeeeee! Lemme join you guys on this one. This is the result of my quiz: Ta-daaaaaa! I got house #5, thr one with Park Seon Joon and Park Hae Jin. Not bad ...

If there is a house with Lee Dong Wook and Gong Yoo on it, I'm considering a swap. I think I will be safer with those kind of guys

It is a good piece of story. It has some flaws but you won't regret watching it.

@Lmangla Oh, are you night night owl?!? I've read many of your posts throughout the years when I've been browsing on Dramabeans :D Are you still active there? I rarely visit the site anymore.

that's so cool that you remember! yea, I wrote in a few times for their 'theme of the month' reader submissions whenever the theme stuck with me. honestly, I was always surprised that I got picked because I never made an account and my posts were always about dramas that most in DB may not have watched. my different drama taste is the reason I never made an account with DB but just lurk and read recaps. for some reason, I decided to go with 'night owl' the first time I sent in a submission rather than lmangla and then just continued. they no longer have reader submissions. so I occasionally read recaps.

The only KSE's drama that I watched is Goblin, I do like it for GY-LDW's bromance....Also YIN-LDW's romance....I don't know much about her other works. But if I based my opinions on TKEM, I would say it's overly cheesy for my taste (the romance part). The scene where The King saved his future Queen with horses and blades made me cringed and full of goosebumps. I am sure it was meant to be epic but most likely the problem is with me who is not so much into romance.....
