the girl who!
If you have watched the raw of ep 2 I'm sure you'll be able to understand the part of Yoon Sang confession ... even tho some details remain unclear to me it was quite a shock to learn that he had a serious problem of alcoholism for several years to the point to develop a severe depresion and many health problems .... I loved how he opened himself to the other guys and there was no need to say anything else cos the problems n misunderstandings finished in a second .. I almost cried seeing how regretful Juck felt ... cannot help but love him more and more as the show progresses :x

alzalya
The 3 ahjussi are just great. I'm more exited waiting to watch them than the Reply cast (sorry for the Reply fans). I just love watching them interact with each other. So far, out of all the over flower series, I liked this one the best. Their chemistry are really the best. It's like watching old friends going on a reunion trip. They're the most talkative casts ever. At first they chatting up on how the others are doing, then they gossip about other people. And you could just sense that their conversation are going deeper with each passing moment. I love to see how Hee Yeol take the leader flag at needed time, and how Juck tries to be the pacifier while Yoon Sang is making real effort to enjoy the trip. Can't wait to see the rest of the trip, esp. with the twist from Na PD. Too bad it's only going to be 4 episodes. I wanna see them more.
the girl who!
Is it okay to say how much I love the dynamic duo Juck - Hee Yeol ? :x it's morning here and I'm watching the raw for the 2nd time XD ( yup, I'm crazy about the show ) and my sister and nephew were a bit surprised that they do almost everything together n always together ( they've also watched the previous seasons of the show ) .... they truly work as a team in a great way cos they complement each other ... while Hee Yeol is busy being the leader Juck is always alert for anything Hee Yeol will need ( aka the money , taking care of Sang Hyung n more ) .This just reminded me the lovely things Hee Yeol said about Juck some months ago on a show ... he said that even if he jokes saying that he hates Juck , he(Juck) is his biggest fan and he ( HY ) finds a great support on him :x Even tho they're close with Sang hyung seems like the trip is going to be a catalyst to make their friendship stronger , I'm glad that hostel crisis happened during their first day cos they got the chance to be mad and then make up but this time understanding each other's perspective :-)

the girl who!
Hull .... while surfing on DC spotted talks about how even the BGM was a hot stuff on Daum music during the broadcasting of the episode D: especially Juck's songs :-) Of all the ahjussi's songs played in the 2 episodes my favorites are definitely from the 2nd episode .... the super famous Run Across The Sky was simply perfect on the desert scenes and this one played during their visit to Larcomar .... I think I'm addicted to this song :x :x http://youtu.be/i9QfShLSQ1sIt's from Juck's old group PANIC , the song is " Rosinante " ( 2005 )Credits to the uploader

What would you do if this happened to you?Think about it. You would think of words such as absurd, disconcerted, shocked, surprised, and so on. These members thought so, too. However, unlike these confused people as if they were struck by thunder, I gave a sigh of relief. A sigh of relief of ‘Okay, this is the way it should go’. Due to its unusual start and reversal by 180 degrees, [Youth Over Flowers] went against people’s expectation, which it will be similar to other series, and started the show interestingly. [Flower Youth] does not have luggage. They do not have porters. How would this type of beginning make the show different from [Flower Grandpa] and [Flower Sister]? Without luggage means, everything will be spontaneous. Also, there is no one like ‘Seo Jin Lee’ or ‘Seung Ki Lee’ whom was porter and built a bridge between grandpas and sisters. This indicates that three members of [Flower Youth] have to solve all problems that may come up during their trip. Thus, [Flower Youth] not only has different members but also mood of the show has changed dramatically. This preannounces that it will be fun to compare the show with other [Over Flowers] series. Another comparing point is the upcoming travel by youth in their 20s. Trip to Laos by ‘Yeon Suk Yoo’, ‘Baro’, ‘Ho JunSon’ will be broadcasted soon, and it will be worth comparing with the travel by youth in their 40s. At first thought, 20s are obviously young, as blooming as flowers, but people may feel uncomfortable calling men in their 40s as youth. Therefore, it will be more fun to compare these two generations: 20s and 40s. We do not know the end of this trip. But although these people have difference of 20 years or so according to their IDs, they have similar minds. So, I presuppose that those members in their 40s would show their youth as well as those members in their 20s because I already saw the signs of youth from them. [Youth Over Flowers] has just started. Let’s watch it while comparing the two teams. Then, you will find unusual fun for sure. Reporter: Scenarist. fourleafclover
Hey guys, I just finished watching episode 2 Chinese subs. I got a little teary-eyed at the opening scene and simply must translate it. We all know what it's about but the way Yoon Sang explained it was heartbreaking. No wonder LJ became so emotional. It's a long scene, so excuse the length. I also skipped a lot of the caption near the end because they were basically saying the same thing, and the vocab is pretty complicated, ha.Start at the Chinese restaurant where all of a sudden the three became quiet with nothing to say. YS: Ah, I must succeed today. HY: How many days? caption: Yoon Sang started the conversation first. YS: I didn’t count. caption: The suffering that followed him at the start of the trip. HY: Didn’t you try on the airplane? YS: I didn’t try… c: Yoon Sang wanted to tell his dongsaengs the reason behind his suffering. YS: Ah, the medicine is good but it has one problem. c: MEDICINE? caption on LJ: Starting to listen seriously to hyung’s words. YS: The excretory system becomes slow to react. caption: Constipation is the medicine’s side effect. YS: I feel my is bladder working, but nothing else is. c: HY apparently knows about the medicine. HY: Why do you need to take this medicine? c: But for Lee Juck, it’s his first time hearing about this. YS: The side effects for this medicine is huge. HY: So why do you need to take it? YS: I started taking it after I went sober. YS Interview: c: Reason for drinking — 30 years of insomnia tortured him YS: I first started drinking because of social pressure. That I didn’t want to compose is actually an excuse. I needed enough sleep in order to have energy. c: Relying on the effects of drinking in order to fall asleep. So I had to drink in order to keep going and it became a habit. c: Also the second reason. YS: I suddenly didn’t want to compose is actually an excuse. c: As a youth, when he couldn’t compose he still had to get on TV. YS: At that time, I had to get on TV variety shows and I actually put on a facade all along. c: Composer Yoon Sang was suffering in that situation. I really struggled to keep going. VJ: Was it painful? YS: Very painful. *compilation of his hit-songs* YS: Why did I come across alcohol on the path that I’ve chosen. Even though I felt great joy when composing music, on the other hand, I also felt great sadness through music. Unexpectedly. It’s like trying to express emotion through an emotional labor.Captions also explains that perhaps Yoon Sang started drinking as a way to comfort himself after these emotional drains when composing. Initial Interview Flashback: Shin PD: Do you like drinking? YS: I quit, two months ago. PD: Two months weren’t that long ago. YS: I never stopped drinking before for the past 28 years. PD: You really stopped, not even one drop? YS: Even beer, yes. Interview: YS: (This is) For my two children and family. And if I keep going this way, I really feel like I’m not taking care of my health. c: And the decision to stop sitting idle while life goes by. Fast-forward scene with HY HY: I’m glad you decided to go sober. How many years has it been going on? 20 years? YS: 27. HY: 27… *big sigh* c: But after going sober, the insomnia became worse. Back at the restaurant:YS: After going sober, I rely on it (sleeping pills) even more. This is how I feel, after I take it, I simply can’t drink because I’m afraid. (mixing sleeping pills with alcohol, bad idea)LJ: You're afraid... caption on LJ: Starting to understand Yoon Sang’s sensitivity LJ by himself: LJ: About that… *starts laughing/crying* c: He thought he was playing and joking before… LJ: He had to stop drinking and take all these medication— *breaks off crying* c: Regretful feelings flooding his thoughts. LJ: and having a hard time going to the bathroom. Mmh. *nods* LJ: I’m worried. Then the scene after that explains the point of the trip to YS. It's so he can keep going sober and slowly ween off the sleeping pills. And then we're shown clips of them supporting YS's sobriety along the way, and LJ saying that he'll become his pillar of support. BTW they didn't specifically said it was sleeping pills just that he's on medication, at least it's not translated as such in Chinese. But it's heavily implied that sleeping pills was a big component.

fourleafclover
Thanks for the DB link! I knew they weren't too far behind. I had a feeling that the Chinese subs glossed over the medicine part of the convo like whether Yoon Sang was on sleeping pills and anti-depressant. Part of me feels like Lee Juck, even though I don't personally know the man. But with Robin Williams' death so prominently covered by the media in the US, I can't help but draw similarities between the two very public and adored figure who have privately struggled with depression. I can't help but think that if YS didn't struggle with suicidal thoughts before and it gives me goosebumps re-watching that scene.
the girl who!
huhuh .... I'm already rooting for our A3 to slay at the entertainment categories Cable Channel tvN Plans to Hold Year-End Awards CeremonyIt seems that celebrities will have to make more room in their year-end schedule as another awards ceremony will be taking place by the end of the year.On August 13, a broadcasting representative said that cable channel tvN is in the start of its planning stages for a year-end awards ceremony. This will be the first for cable channel tvN.While media giant CJ E&M taking the lead in the year-end awards with its Style Icon Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards, tvN plans to hold a special awards ceremony for its own channel which will give recognition to its own contents. The tvN year-end awards ceremony will be putting the spot light on the broadcasted and currently broadcasting variety programs and drama series on tvN including “SNL Korea,” “Youth Over Flowers,” “The Genius 3,” “Gap-dong,” High School King,” “The Three Musketeers,” and “Cinderella’s Sister,” and award outstanding producers and cast of those shows. The tvN year-end awards ceremony that has long been discussed internally before will finally begin its planning stages and take its first steps. The awards ceremony is projected to be held its first staging this year. It will reflect the interest and opinions of the broadcasting world on tvN’s popular variety programs and drama series. With the mindset that “even an awards ceremony is (part of a network’s) content,” tvN plans to make “an awards ceremony that is most likely of tvN.” Currently, particular details of its format and direction are yet to be completed but it promises to not be a copycat of other existing awards ceremonies.Source : http://www.soompi.com/2014/08/13/cable-channel-tvn-plans-to-hold-year-end-awards-ceremony/
