What Japanese drama are you currently watching?

Same, I don't want him typecast to a certain role. That's a setback to him as an actor. Plus he's so vocal that he wants works he'd be having fun doing.

 

There are already "accusations" against producers that when a slot is low, they'll be flocking on him to entice him to work and get the rates up. 😑 Problem I see with that is, what if it's a good story per se, but not to audience taste and ratings remain low... then he'll be blamed for that.

 

I don't mind seeing him though in continuing stories like TG or Happy Marriage sequel be it drama or movie.

yes, that is the reality...but still, I would like it if he would step out of his comfort zone.

his role in the TG movie is the same as in the TG drama. 

He is a good actor and it would be nice to see him in something new. 

the same goes for Xiao Zhan.

 

I watched Xiao Zhan's MV for his new song.

Im not a fan of sci-fi,  but it was exciting to see him in a different genre and not just in costume dramas.

What's nice with TG is that he gets to play both the good and bad guy role. The story has different adventures too for the duo and their friends.

 

I want to see Xiao Zhan in more villain roles 🫠 He doesn't have to be the lead, he's just as magnificent in support antagonist roles like that in was it Joy of Life?

On the contrary, I'd like to see Meme in costume or historical genre, as he only have one as of now.

I'm glad Meme doesn't like romcom.  Maybe they do well in the ratings, but I'd focus on accolades.

Almost finished ep 1 of Beyond Goodbye.  It's definitely going to be one of those where the Kleenex box needs to be nearby.  The actor who plays Yusuke, the one who dies, has western features.  yayoi, yeah, I'm going to forever refer to her with that name, is ok. The first episode is mainly about Yusuke and Saeko; how they met, his demise.  I haven't seen Kentaro Sakaguchi yet.  I guess most are watching to see him.

We've to be happy with his one and only romcom Kieta Hatsukoi, which isn't a normal romcom either but a BL romcom. 😆 The Thais did a remake, but the few clips I saw of it in YT, I didn't like it cos the cast look older and are way too matured as HS students; they don't have the innocent and naive air the Japanese original have.

 

More than action or sci-fi, I'd really like to see Meme in a thriller, as a deceptive, very unhinged character. 😅

Kentaro is very popular 🙂 I hope Kasumi does well in this drama, cos plenty of exposures for them two. They went to SK to promote and attend event, and I've seen posts of covers(?) or feature write-ups of the drama's ML/FL.

I watched only his (XZ) scenes...This is the first time I saw him as the baddie.

It would be interesting to see him as boy-next-door Hannibal Lecter sort of role. 🤔 Or something with the feels of the movie Orphan.

 

Ooo, there are two flying rumours too. One is that he'll be having an SK collab work, the other is filming Watakon sequel next year.

Made it to ep 3 of Beyond Goodbye.  Kentaro (Naruse) and Saeko finally met.  He's showing signs of adopting some of Yusuke-piano playing, love of coffee.  His gf seems a little possessive,  Maybe we'll see a girl fight .

Beyond Goodbye--Saeko and Naruse finally realize that Naruse was the recipient of Yusuke's heart.  They confirmed it by the recipient letter to the donor and the donor's reply. Something struck me--so Yusuke had no parents?  I don't remember hearing anything about, or seeing, his parents.  I have a cadaver tendon or ligament in my knee.  I wrote a letter to the donor's family, but didn't receive a reply.

Beyond Goodbye--  Naruse is beginning to wonder if he has feelings for Saeko or if it's Yusuke's.  Naruse's wife is becoming anxious.  In ep 5, we found out that Yusuke's mother left when he was young.  She still works in a cafe.  Yusuke would stand outside the cafe, but never entered.

She has the right to feel that way. How complicated it must be for her that her man had another chance to live, but she's now "losing" him to his benefactor's sweetheart.

Beyond Goodbye-Ugh, Saeko and Naruse are now acting on their feelings.  These last 2 episodes are going to be a tear jerker.  He found out he only have weeks, months to live.  One really weird, seemingly unnecessary scene; Saeko conks her head on a pole (don't ask--even that was weird), falls, then spots a bear.  After a stare down, the bear retreats after Saeko's phone rings.  Really odd scene.

Beyond Goodbye--made it to ep 8.  After Saeko vows never to see Naruse, he shows up, but now says he's totally healthy, but will lose Yusuke's memories.  Ok, we'll see how this ends.

Started A Life A Love.  I didn't realize it's an old drama.  When I looked it up, I saw the FL committed suicide, a couple of years ago, sad.

Finished A Life A Love.  Worth the watch IMO.  I like that Masao Danjo, who felt he was never good enough, finally was able to see that no one thought that was true.  And he found that his wife really loved him.  Sweet ending.  I also liked Kenichi Matsuyama's performance as Sota Igawa, who went from a cocky young Dr, who learned under the tutelage of Dr Okita and was on his way to becoming an excellent Dr.

Frustrating!  The mother and her son are kidnapped by her hubby's goon.  The goon is outside the van fighting.  The mother continues to sit in the van and just looks scared.  Can she not help?  Can she not take her son and, at least, try to escape?  Jump in the front seat and drive off?  hello?
