Ron Ng recently dismissed rumours saying that he has been on bad terms with his "Ruse Of Engagement" co-star Ruco Chan.

Previously, it was reported that the actor was dissatisfied with Ruco when TVB decided to promote the latter to leading star status and reduced Ron's screen time.

The 34-year-old actor was reportedly further infuriated when the series was shelved for two years, allegedly due to Ruco's busy schedule.

However, while speaking to the media recently, Ron rubbished off all rumours of hostility between him and Ruco, and said that the two of them have a good relationship.

"We had a good time filming the series. We saw each other for two months during filming and became brothers," said Ron.

He also denied that Ruco was the reason why they had to wait two years before the series finally got its broadcast date.

"Based on what I heard, "Tiger Cubs" was aired shortly before "Ruse Of Engagement" and the two series were quite similar in terms of themes and costumes. TVB didn't want too many series of similar series airing at the same time, so our series was rearranged for a later broadcast," said Ron.

"Ruse Of Engagement" tells the story of two brothers who work as paramilitary officers in the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF). Produced by Amy Wong, it also stars Aimee Chan and Yoyo Mung. The series will begin its broadcast on 17 March.

Hong Kong actress Aimee Chan has revealed that she recently travelled to the Thai island of Ko Samui with her husband, actor Moses Chan, and their son, Aiden, to celebrate the baby's 100th day birthday.

At a promotional event for her new TVB drama Ruse of Engagement, the new mummy said she was initially worried that Aiden would not take well to airplane turbulence, but to her relief, the baby boy did not kick up a fuss throughout the flight. Aimee believes that this is because of his 'experience' even before he was born '“ the actress flew to Malaysia for a shoot and to Paris for her wedding when she was pregnant.

The family of three spent four days on the island, and enjoyed leisure activities such as swimming, sun tanning, and shopping. On Aiden's 100th day birthday last Friday, the couple celebrated the baby's milestone at home with a cake and kisses as presents.

When asked about her thoughts on Moses' decision to avoid filming intimate scenes since getting hitched, Aimee laughingly replied, 'He didn't tell me about that. Ruse of Engagement was shot a long time ago, so I don't even remember who I kissed [in the drama]. I'd have to cover his eyes when it airs.'

Translated by: aZnangel

TVB "warehoused" series Ruse of Engagement was produced 3 years ago and TVB finally decided to air it now. The series premiered on Monday and started out considerately high with an average rating of 30 points, peaking at 31 points. However TVB and the OFCA received a total of 20 complaints from the audience that Ron Ng's screen time doesn't care to Ruco Chan's, the gun fight scenes aren't exciting enough and some thought TVB shouldn't be broadcasting series about terrorism. Producer Amy Wong hoped the audience could watch the series patiently because there will be more intense action scenes in the later episodes. She also denied Ruco had more screen time than Ron.

Also, Ruco Chan was on Metro Radio promoting for the series. He laughed and said: "Filming for this series happened a few years ago, at the time for my role I worked out and kept fit, so I may look a little thinner." Asked whether Netizens might complain the series is outdated? He said: "As long as we all enjoy the process and also know how to handle the criticisms." As there are many action scenes in this series and they were filming in the summer, Ruco expressed it was his most difficult series to film since his debut. Asked in what other areas does he hope to develop in? He expressed he hoped to give films a try: "Just to satisfy my acting craving."

Ron Ng Forgets Storyline: Pretends to Keep People Guessing to Pass
Friday March 21, 2014 Hong Kong
Credits: to hyn5 @ http://hyn5-hyn5.blogspot.com

Ron Ng went to a radio station to promote the new series "Ruse of Engagement". He said that he has confidence in the ratings: "On the web, I see a lot of people saying that they're re-watching it. The response is not bad. These genres are also stable. This time is different from previous police dramas. In the past, there may be two or three episodes to talk about a story. This time, it is talking about the same story from episodes one to 25". He also pointed out that this series was already finished filmed two or three years ago; thus, he does not really remember the storyline: "Previously, the media asked me what the story was about. I could only pretend to be secretive by keeping people guessing first".

Ruco Chan was on a radio station to promote for his new series Ruse of Engagement. It was rumored because Yoyo Mung left TVB, the series was warehoused for 3 years. Ruco denied: "I don't think so. There are a lot of other artists in this series. TVB invested in resources to shoot a TV series, I don't think they'll freeze it. (Do you believe the rumors?) No, it won't be that influential. There have been many other artists whom have left TVB, but their series still gets broadcasted."

When speaking of Steven Ma's hospitalization earlier due to high blood pressure, Ruco had previously worked with him before, he frankly expressed he did not know: "Huh?! He's so slim and still got high blood pressure? Must really take good care of our health. Its quite a pain if that leads to a stroke, it will cause a huge impact. (He's discharged?) As long as he's okay. I will send a SMS to ask how he's doing."

Ruco expressed he gets his physical done annual. "In the past 2-3 years, I've been shooting series nonstop. In my last check up, the doctor found that I had elevated liver enzymes. It is pretty dangerous because there is a high possibility that I have liver disease. In the end, the doctor gave me medication to control it."

Source: HK Headline
Translated by: aZnangel

Recently TVB finally released the three year old "warehoused" series Ruse of Engagement (ROE). During filming, the series was already surrounded by gossips and now that the series is airing, there are even more gossips emerging. It was rumored that day the two male leads Ron Ng and Ruco Chan were fighting to be the main male lead and didn't communicate while they were filming. It was also rumored because Ron's contract is expiring next year, TVB wanted to please him by deliberately making this series a big deal, so they could easily get him to renew the contract.

Yesterday Ron accepted an exclusive interview and denied the rumors. Ron expressed he and Ruco did not fight to be the male lead. Ron also helped Ruco clarified his plastic surgery rumor. "Lately I've been seeing him a lot, I really don't think so! Aiya, there always rumors like this. Perhaps the next time, it will be rumored that I got plastic surgery! Just think of it as publicity for the series!" Since Ron's defending Ruco, does that mean their bad terms rumor are also not true? Ron said: "There were already rumors while we were filming! I think its just the thought of some supporters/fans. We had a great collaboration and had no problems at all. (It was said you were fighting with Ruco to be the male lead?) How can male leads be clearly distinguished? Whoever gets more screen time does not mean they'll stand out. Actually it is more about who has the outstanding acting! Look at So Gay (Jerry Koo), he was just a supporting actor and got so much attention!"

First Choice is TVB

TVB is lacking Siu Sangs and Ron's contract is expiring next year. Recently he had been appointed to meet with the executives to discuss the contract renewal. It was rumored TVB used this "warehoused" series to entice him to stay. Ron frankly expressed there is no connection: "At the time, they didn't air ROE because there was already Tiger Cubs out. The subject matter of both series were very similar." It was rumored TVB's Big 3 Sisters (Virgina Lok, Sandy Yu, Catherine Tsang) had interviews with second and third line artists to see who gets to stay? Ron laughed: "I haven't heard of that! But I'm a second or third line artist!"

When speaking of the chances of him renewing the contract, Ron expressed TVB is his first choice: "There are companies outside that have approached me. TVB also had meetings with me, but its very preliminary because there is still a whole year left. I can take my time to consider. (Your manager Garly Chan Ka Lei is staying, will she influence your decision?) Absolutely an important factor. Now that she's not leaving anymore, the chances of me renewing my contract is higher because I've worked with her for over 10 years. She understands my needs, but I also have to consider other factors as well." (TN: Garly Chan is also Tavia, Moses and Roger Kwok's manager)

Future development is one of the factors Ron will be considering. In June, Ron will be collaborating with Film King Anthony Wong and TV King Wayne Lai in Amy Wong's new Kung Fu series. This is absolutely a rare opportunity. "Just hearing the news makes me excited! Its rare for Anthony to come back to shoot a TVB series. I really want to steal some tips off of him! Even if I'm not part of the scenes, I will stay behind and watch. (Are you afraid he's hard to get along with?) It shouldn't be a problem. I was able to get along well with Francis Ng."

Claims Himself as "RonBB"

Since Ron broke up with Mainland actress Viann Zhang, he had rumors with Toby Leung and Kelly Fu, but he denied all of them. He expressed he does not want to date yet, he just wants to focus on his career. Although he does envy good brother Raymond Lam and Karena Ng (KarenaBB) high-profile and sweet romance, he pretended to be jealous: "I envy KarenaBB a lot more, she has such a great boyfriend. Actually I can be a RonBB too, but Raymond doesn't care about me!"

Ron Ng Ruco Chan

Hong Kong actor Ron Ng had numerous scenes removed from new TVB drama Ruse of Engagement in favour of his co-star Ruco Chan, resulting in unhappiness amongst his fans.

Since Ruse of Engagement began airing last Monday, TVB and the Communications Bureau have received more than 80 complaints, which include protests against Ron’s meager number of scenes compared to Ruco. Main discussion forums have also seen the appearance of threads accusing TVB of being biased towards Ruco, causing main lead Ron to be relegated to a side character.

A fan of Ron’s claimed that all comments discussing the cut-down of Ron’s scenes have been removed, so they had no choice but to take their grievances to the Asia Television discussion forum, in a bid to catch TVB’s attention.

According to reports, Ron is also unhappy that his scenes were drastically cut even though he took on the project as the male lead. An insider revealed: “When this drama was filmed three years ago, Ruco just came to TVB from Asia Television, so he couldn’t have been the lead. At that time, it was Miss Lok’s (Virginia Lok) era, so it was very natural that Ron (one of her favoured artistes) was the male lead.”

As Virginia no longer calls the shots at TVB, producers Catherina Tsang and Sandy Yue decided to air the drama. As long-time supporters of Ruco, they requested for a re-edit of footage to raise the actor’s role from second lead to main lead, effectively sacrificing Ron’s scenes.

Regarding this, Ruco proclaimed his innocence, and accused Ron’s fans of spreading negative feelings. He added that fans will only be positive when their idols are positive, hinting that the incident was deliberately incited by someone.

Ron returned the barb, admitting that his scenes were cut and saying that “dozens of dramas are going to air in one year” in reference to the producers’ partiality towards Ruco.

TVB actress Aimee Chan admitted that she had trouble trying to play the role of intelligence analyst, Chung Yat Ka in "Ruse of Engagement" while filming the series three years ago.

On CC reported that the actress stated that playing such a cool character was hard, as she was still a newbie at the time and the character was extremely different from her own sunny personality.

"I had little experience at that point, and we were filming ten to eleven hours at most," said Aimee, who was asked to look stern and serious most of the time for the role.

"I also had problems finding the right feelings at some of the most important scenes. Usually I will set myself in the character's shoes to understand her emotion, but I started to get nervous when I failed to reach that emotional point."

Aimee added that she even asked her acting partner, Ron Ng to stop making jokes so that she can focus on her serious role.

"Fortunately, I finally managed to get the feel of things successfully," said the actress.

In regards to her personal life, Aimee admitted that she had started looking for schools for her son Aiden, saying, "I was born in Canada and it shapes how I think. I hope that my son will also be a person who has his own ideas and can make decisions by himself."

Source: UMagazine, KuangaiTVB
Translated by: aZnangel
U - U Magazine ; A - Aimee ; R - Ron

U: Ruse of Engagement had a lot of action scenes, did you get injured from filming?

R: There was one training scene, I was climbing up to an area where I couldn't see the copper bar and so it hit my eye. I was sent to the hospital immediately, but luckily it didn't injure my eye. Action scenes may just be a short scene, but it can take 3 days to film. Also, we were filming in the bitter heat and had to wear a full gear, it was extremely difficult. If you don't have enough rest, it can get really dangerous.

A: I only sprained my ankle and got a little burn. There was one explosion scene, although I applied fire protective gel, I still got hurt. Perhaps I'm a little tomboy, I really wanted to do the action scenes, and after filming this series, I think you can control the action scenes, but you cannot control explosion scenes.

R: Its really hard to predict explosion scenes. Hong Kong is better, but you really can't predict anything in China. When I was filmingTwin of Brothers, there was one scene about an explosion in the water that cause our boat to lose control. We didn't know where the explosive was, we just saw 4-5 bread-like material floating around besides the boat. I took a glance and boom... the explosion happened right before my eyes. I couldn't see anything.

A: Oh My God... I do indeed want to try a role I haven't done before. Such as a fighter girl. I think that's really cool, fun and challenging. However, if its like how he described it, 4-5 break-like material floating around, then maybe not!

R: If you have the chance to film in China and encounter explosion or hanging on wire scenes, you really have to get a good understanding and the details. Don't want to get into trouble.

A: That's true. Nowadays I can't be like how I used to be, don't care about anything. Although when it airs, I can look better on screen, but one time there was one scene I didn't realize how close the broken glass was near my face and my eyes until I watched the playback.

R: What a big deal! Ah Mo (Moses Chan) must have been upset to death!

"It's Your Important Scene, Nobody Can Rush You"

U: Ruse Of Engagement was filmed three years ago. Looking back now, what do you see that is lacking from three years ago?

A: Three years ago, I never portrayed such a cool character before. I remember at first I wanted to just use my eyes to do the acting and have no other expression. I think I could just try to look strong and tough, or maybe put away my smiles. I was all stiff.

R: I had some areas that needed improvement, such as my scenes with my mother (Louise Lee) and brother (Ruco Chan) and my reactions when I was pursuing Aimee. Actually I could do better at the parts where I react to Kenny Wong. However, can't say anything now since it is three years ago. Today, I'll use a different style to portray the role."

U: You two collaborated before in Forensic Heroes III, how have your co-star changed since then?

R: When we first collaborated, she even had trouble speaking Chinese. I saw how much effort she put into trying to understand the script. When we were filming Ruse of Engagement, she asked me or the other artists what some of her lines meant. I remember one time we were filming a scene about Ruco missing, (to Aimee: do you remember?) I ran over to say something to you and you started crying...

A: I remember! Actually this is my first heavy series. I remember at the time I was really really nervous about that crying scene and I didn't know why I totally jumped out of character. I had no feeling whatsoever. Later, he (Ron) pulled me to the side and started talking to me...

R: I said to her, if in real life your boyfriend suddenly goes missing, what would you do? Once she thought about it, she started crying.

A: There was another scene that was very important to my role, I will never forget how I had to hold the sad mood for 16 hours. I never had that kind of experience better. It was really stressful. After about 13 hours, I already lost the mood and at the time I told everyone to give me a few more minutes, but I still didn't have the mood. My personality is I don't like to make people wait, I feel really bad if I do. However, Ron was great. He came over to me and said: "Take it slowly, this scene is very important to you. Nobody can rush you." I wasn't too familiar with him when we filmed FH3, and it wasn't until this series that I thought he's pretty cool and nice. He feels a little bit like a big brother to me.

R: I just wanted to be able to get off work (laughs).

A: Thank you so much. You know, at the time I was just too green (new). He might say he wanted to get off work now, but I know at the time he wanted to help me. So, I feel very comfortable collaborating with him.

R: She is someone who has to have experienced it before she can really get into the mood.

A: Actually I don't have many life experiences. My family of four is very complete. All I did when I was younger was go to school and haven't really been naughty before, so I don't have many life experiences.

R: Dating doesn't mean you're naughty.

A: I didn't say anything about my dating experiences!
