Round 3: Short Essay
Round 3 will be a short essay round. Please reply below with your couple's name and URL, and an essay of 500 words or less, explaining why your couple belongs together and why you support them. The couple's name and URL will not be included in the 500 word count, but if you choose to have any titles or quotes in the essay, then those will be counted. Round 3 is an elimination round, and the results of the elimination will be based equally on the votes for all three rounds.

Jung Yonghwa’s heart found that someone --- Park Shinhye, while acting his first role in the entertainment industry. They hit it off almost instantly and till today, remain the best of friends.

All good relationships start from friendships and the Dooley Couple has the strongest foundation in this area which they proudly announce and is globally accepted.

So how are these 2 BFF similar?
Both are compassionate, judging from their individual charity involvement with the poor and needy; passionate, whether performing (acting or singing), playing sports (wakeboarding, skateboarding etc), or completing tasks in Running Man, they consistently put in their best efforts; genuine, from their natural-born looks, to dressings that reflect their casual fun personalities, and friendly interactions with everyone, never presenting any agency-created 'false' image.

Their strong friendship is accompanied by unconditional support, from nail-care to makeup, lending a shoulder to sleep on, to sending congratulatory flowers on-stage, twice!  Messages that Yonghwa sends to Shinhye’s birthday & 10th anniversary fan-meet; Shinhye’s backstage visit during CNBlue’s debut showcase and her comments on the soon-to-be released Can't Stop album, spell of love and respect for this pair of friends. He Said...

The most common question I get asked as a shipper, whether it is from another YongSeo fan or someone from another fandom entirely, is “Why do you ship or believe in YongSeo?” Normally, I would concisely answer, “I just do.” A blunt answer from a blunt man, I'm afraid. Yup, I belong to the outwardly solitary order of male shippers. I was touched and entranced by watching someone else's romance rather than fast cars or big explosions.

But, beyond that, I believe there are as many answers to that question as there are people out there, and that the answer you form for yourself is the best one there is. For some people, YongSeo evoked nostalgic memories or experiences: that timid first date, your first anniversary, preparing or receiving your first gift, or the first fight and reconciliation. For some, they saw their ideal picture of romance in their relationship: the upright girl who tamed the playful boy, the considerate boy who patiently led the inexperienced girl, he wrote her a song, she knitted him a scarf, their seemingly opposite personality that grew to complement each other, and finally good looks don’t hurt either.

With YongSeo, I was able to find happiness that I can't get from anywhere else. They made me believe that there are relationships worth keeping and cherishing, have it be as lovers or as friends.

She Said...
YongSeo's story is sweet and unforgettable. They showed me a realistic love story -- a love that takes process, sacrifices, and lots of effort.
Initially, they were awkward, their exchanges clumsy, and despite him being “quick on his feet”, it sometimes appeared he was at a loss as he tried, often unsuccessfully, to get her to open up. His jokes would be taken literally, yet her genuine naiveté and cuteness somehow diffused whatever frustration he might have normally experienced. She grew leaps and bounds every week, and I reveled in seeing how flashes of their own selves began to emerge as they grew as a couple.

Also, YongSeo has taught us nothing but positivity - ‘only happy things’. To believe without seeing, to trust without doubting, to forgive without asking, to wait without complaining and to love without expecting something.
For the incomparable chemistry, for complementing each other and most of all for bringing out the best in each other, they absolutely belong together.
For making us brighter and better humans, how can we not ship them?

“Promises”Watching Hongki and Mina opened their hearts to each other has given us lessons in life and love. They first met at a book café, and shared something that was good about themselves. Mina said “I keep promises”. Later when talking about being separated, Hongki asked if she would come if he called. She replied “I can't promise you now because promises should be taken seriously.” He wanted her to say yes and drop everything to come to his side. Mina knew that would not always be possible. She wouldn't make a promise she couldn't keep. Mina and Hongki started from a place where promises and truth are valued. They started by building a relationship on firm grounds.

“Protector”Hongki and Mina also taught us the value of letting go. Because Hongki and Mina had experienced disappointments in previous relationships, they could have chosen to protect their hearts. Instead they let go of their fears and reached towards each other. They could have remained two shy strangers playing games, showing only their public face. But Mina honestly talked about her fears and hurts, giving Hongki a chance to understand them allowing him to take on the role of protector. Hongki's total honesty allowed Mina to feel secure and at home. So, Hongki saw Mina without makeup, Mina saw Hongki's hairy legs and they reached a level of intimacy that is only possible when people remove their public masks to show their true self. Hongki's wedding vows said "You know the deep side of me that no one can know, I love you who give me light, even if our future might be dark and tough we'd brighten the day with our love. You and I will love." Mina talked about how different they were and yet she still wanted to "put on her heels” and be by his side. They showed us that love is not about perfection but about being willing to risk it all, knowing that you will fall short, knowing the other person will love you anyway.

“Taking Care”Love is more than a fairy tale. Seeing them taking off their wedding rings should have meant the end, but Hongki did something that moved their relationship from the fairy tale world into the real world. He gave Mina a couple necklace. Putting it around her neck, he told her to “take care of it” and showing her his necklace, he hugged her close. That is when the real love story began.

“LOVE”Real love has good times and bad. It's about loving the other person, faults and all. In Love Against All OddsThe Hunnie Couple, Byunghun & Minjung is definitely not your typical Korean drama couple. Their whirlwind romance doesn't give much time for shippers to gather. It's not love on the filming set, no 24-episode drama to rewind, no interview hints, no intimate scenes to dissect, no promo tours abroad.. nope. Yet they found each other again after letting their love go in 2006 due to the career choices they made.
What brought Byunghun & Minjung back together is fate and faith in each other. And the love that never stops despite whatever happened over the years. That love just gets stronger with the maturity and sincerity of their hearts, finally realizing the reason to live & be happy together.
Byunghun & Minjung had braved the cyber storm once dating rumors start swirling things around. A difficult decision to deny was their first action only because it's being reported without consent. They were already on a serious path not to be swayed and yet it's their life to tell, if they wanted to. Both stayed off the radar unless it's for work but continue to date secretly and effectively planning their days. 
It's probably a little strange to ship an already married couple but what makes the Hunnie Couple an adorable pairing is how they complemented each other so well, despite the age-gap that really doesn't show nor matter. A couple who are active in their careers yet so supportive for one another. a pledge through thick and thin..
Why do we ship and support the Hunnie Couple?
It makes perfect sense because Byunghun and Minjung are married to each other as it created a new level of shippers' experience. They may not be the fans' first choices but these two lovebirds found each other again winning real couple affection. As there were never lingering bad feelings from their first encounter, a fresh start for a relationship blossomed quickly with even more passion.
Was that not fate and full faith in each other that shaped their destiny?
As this lovely couple starts their life together, Byunghun fans have learned to appreciate Minjung, the queen in his heart whom he had described as his best friend and vice-versa. What could be more realistic, sweet and just romantic at the same time than having someone to share -- a lover and companion in everything and anything together. It's obviously something that warms the fans' hearts seeing these two wonderful individuals finding their happiness and making it work.

Life, love and passion are their source of strength and vitality.

Trapped into a corner and unable to find a hiding place for Seung-nyang, Ta-hwan quickly fills his tub with rose petals. With no other option, she hides in the tub, while he pretends to be bathing. Running out of air and at the point of unconsciousness, Ta-hwan plunges down, placing his mouth on hers and passes air to Seung-nyang. On the brink of dying, her body receives a life-giving kiss. He has breathed life into her, by sharing himself with her.

One scene that clearly stands out when talking about the TaNyang Couple is the CPR Kiss. This kiss represents the rejuvenating nature of their relationship. This is compounded by the ambiance of the scenery; the warm red color of the petals that surrounds them. The scene hinted at the fact that although they face situations filled with danger, Ta-hwan's warmth and passionate love will bring Seung-nyang back to life.

Likewise, when Ta-hwan thought that Seung-nyang was dead, he regressed into a shell of a man. He had quit living and developed aphasia, thereby rendering him unable to speak. Yet when he saw her again, Ta-hwan's speech immediately returned. He began to live again...Seung-nyang's mere presence brought him back to life.

There is a restorative force between these two which strengthens them. Despite the fact that their present environment is designed to break them, the TaNyang Couple finds solace in each other by building each other up. Their support extends farther than companionship, or merely catching each other when they fall. They are the salve for each other's wounds. Instead of being the one to pull the other out of the darkness, they are each other's light source in the dark place they must call home.

Watching these two, it is clear to us that they are fated to be together. Despite the fact that Seung-nyang delayed her destiny as a tribute woman and avoided slavery in Yuan, the thread of fate that binds them together brought him to her, instead of she to him. There is an intense push-and-pull between them and we cannot deny how much they care for each other. They do not limit it to words, but show it through their actions. Even during the times when Seung-nyang knows she is supposed to hate him, she cannot rationalize her heart. Even when she is determined to leave him, the literal act of walking away brings tears to her eyes. Similarly, Ta-Hwan cannot turn away from her. Even when pushed away, he remained by her side, supporting, protecting and loving her. The TaNyang Couple has a bond that cannot be broken no matter how many obstacles have been thrown their way. Despite the forces conspiring against them, they are inseparable. With each trial that they endure together, their bond only becomes stronger, to the extent that they now will never let go of each other's hand.

He who have admittedly didn’t receive support and encouragement from parents of his wish to pursue music, ran away from home during high school. 

She was not allowed to continue her ballet studies so she secretly paid to take traditional dance lessons without her father’s knowledge nor consent.  In the process of learning, she was encouraged to take acting lessons to learn to convey emotions thru dance.  She fell in love with acting but her father’s reservations of SK’s entertainment industry almost hindered her to follow her heart’s desire. 

Fast forward several years, with determination and perseverance Kim Hyun Joong and Jung So Min eventually are both living their dream:  he, a singer (was a member of SS501) and actor -  she, an aspiring actress. 

 

Personality and Temperament

He’s aloof or doesn’t talk much in front of strangers, straight forward, charismatic, 4D, strong will, honest and caring to his family.  She’s simple, humble or modest, polite, kind, caring, hard worker, intelligent and a perfectionist.  

Why we think they belong together

It was a privilege for us fans to see in bts videos of PK how they started awkward but not distant.  We saw how HJ overcome his aloofness and awkwardness to a simple and kind girl:  a girl who wasn't trying hard to be noticed by him but simply to work hard for the success of the drama. 

Inevitably, he couldn’t hide his true self…  his secret glances, prolong stares to her, personal topic of conversations, jokes he shared to make her laugh – that was the start of their closeness.  Over time, that closeness progressed to where they shared tender moments of sharing a blanket or giving a massage while waiting or in queue for their scenes – they simply understood and very comfortable with each other.  That closeness he admitted in front of the thousands of fans present at the Baek Seung Jo event; an admission that received negative reactions.  The actor who played as his father also divulged what he had witnessed and his personal opinion on the progression of the couple’s relationship.   

The continued admiration for each other shortly after PK-YT ended, was evident at the MBC 2010 award event and especially at the PK-FM in Osaka and Tokyo.  The innuendos continued on when HJ used props of PK-related or poster at his fan meetings or concerts, the instrumental OST of PK (One More Time) playing while his family photos in a video were being shown at his latest birthday concert in SK, the PK mementos displayed at Jaksal branch, having a look-alike of JSM in his videos – these and more didn’t go unnoticed.

First Love, Young Love and Innocent Love...

This is how we depict our Taeun Couple, though they were dubbed so many names because of their similarities, we still go back from the basic which is having a first love.  These are the things we ought to find at a very young age.  It is full of good memories, reminiscing the times that you share your first of everything.  After watching Taeun couple, a lot of people are being reminded of their first love.  Like seeing yourself in their situation, where every moment and every conversation you had with your first love makes you smile at yourself, having a heart fluttering moment and cringe in a good way.

Our couple are easily loved by many, from Grandparents, Mothers, Sisters, Brothers and even children of Taeun shippers were lured in their charms.  They both were “innocent” on how to handle relationship and this is something refreshing even for the young Taeun shipper.

No doubt they belong to each other.  As the days, weeks and months passes by, the couple have created a genuine feeling of protecting, caring, and the need to express each other’s feelings.  We have witnessed how an awkward look has turned into thoughtful and full of honesty stare… How an “almost stranger” are willing to change for the better for each other.

Also, both Taemin and Naeun got so many similarities, from where they attend school, likes meat (which they got the Gogi Couple name), they were the youngest couple in all WGM history (Makdong & Innocent Couple name), and even dubbed as Nation’s Idol Couple after they confess and back hugged in one episode. As shippers, we always feel that they don't have to verbalize their feelings because we can see that action speaks louder than words.

With the fact that they have so many things in common, even Taeun themselves think it's so amazing to find someone with so much similarities and they think it's fate.. And that is why they really belong to each other.

He might be a stranger to us but majority can relate to the words because of how powerful it penetrates one’s heart. That is exactly how MinSul penetrated ours.

Just like any Korean Drama, we get giddy when we see the romantic moments. But after the drama has ended, some of us will move on after a while. But there are times when after watching a drama, it stays in our hearts for a very long time. We keep it, treasure it and make it grow. This is what “To the Beautiful You” (TTBY) is to us. It was not just the story or the production that made MinSul shippers stay even after more than a year since the drama ended, but it was the way Minho Choi and Sulli Choi shared that special bond that made us believe that there is something real between the two of them.

After watching TTBY and seeing all the BTS, we could not sit still and not notice the intimacy and sweetness MinSul had. They were more than just comfortable with each other, but their bodies and natural instincts would always show what their lips couldn’t. The simple glance at each other sending a smile on both their lips at the same time; the natural instinct of Sulli to feed Minho with the food she’s holding; the natural instinct of Minho to stay close to Sulli on the pool knowing she has acrophobia; the comfortable moments they had on the bed without even a single space between them…There are just so many.  And even after a year from the production, Minho and Sulli’s sweetness could not be hidden.

Just more than month ago, Minho visited Sulli in her movie set for Pirates. That time, Minho was very busy with his hosting, JP concerts and his drama just ended. But he went all the way to the Pirates set, which was not in the city, just to support Sulli. The event did not hit the news which is mindboggling, but it certainly reached the netizens, making our hearts jump with joy as we continue to dream that one day they can really come out and openly declare their love for each other.

You can call us delusional (many others already did). It’s fine that it had made us reach a second thread here in soompi because the pages of our first thread reached more than 2000. However, we’d rather call ourselves hopeful because we only hope for their happiness. And seeing Sulli and Minho together makes us feel that they are happiest when they’re together.

This is what we truly want for them just like Dr. Seuss’ famous words: That Minho and Sulli may not fall asleep easily at night, because finally the person they CHOSE TO LOVE made their life’s REALITY better than their DREAMS.

Unfortunately, in the dramaland of Reply 1994, the “Cider couple” did not end up together. However, their potential as a couple and their chemistry was too enormous and beautiful to ignore. Cider is for the gut-wrenching, heart-shaking splendor of the things that could've been and the things that never were. Together, we analyzed this couple from literally every angle possible: life lessons, real life relationships, thematic resonance, character development, narrative structure, metaphors, symbolism, and parallel imagery. We discussed not only Chilbong and Najung, but also what it meant to love and to separate, to give and to receive, to mature and to dream, to strive and to surrender, and to find your own identity.

 

We celebrate all the wonderful alternatives, the virtuality that equips us to go out into the world, create the reality we want and find the miraculous amidst the ruin.

Lee So Yeon and Jeon Yoon Han (SoHan) is a couple that is currently featured in variety show "We Got Married". They popularly known for their romantic and lovey-dovey interaction, envied by lots of people. Their honest conversation, consideration, and care towards each other have touched the hearts of many fans.

Life is a fairytale

In their portrayal of a married life SoHan couple had shows how beautiful life can be when you're with someone you love. Their virtual marriage had been a fairy tale came to life (mostly thanks to Yoon Han). Yoon Han's romantic nature had led to so many beautiful scene that you could only see on drama/fairytale. Though it's one of the reason why some people didn't watch them (they can't take their sweetness overload )) it's also the reason that most fans love them.

What's amazing is how natural this scenes can be. Despite it being a virtual marriage, you actually could believe them when they happened. It's all because of the sincerity this two shows in their action that lead to so many beautiful scene, "red thread meeting", "lying together under a tree", "write things on glasses/ whispering i'll do my best", ofcourse the most famous "proposal", and even nature is helping them with "hail on weddings day" and "snow on moving day".

Every little things counts

Fans might start loving SoHan for their big romantic scene, but it was their little actions that actually makes the fans stay. Just the way they looked at each other is enough to convinced fans to go crazy for them. Not just the way they looked at each other, but how they both treat each other, their body languages, facial expressions, conversations, basically every little things they did shows that love is in the air.

Reel or real?

It was a question that's not only questioned by fans and people who watched them. Even the couple questioned it. SoHan might be the only couple in "We Got Married" that actually bringing this topic on screen, adding oil to delusional flame in fan's hearts. Both Yoon Han and So Yeon had come to the show with too much sincerity that the experience confuse them.

Yoon Han had said to So Yeon how their virtual marriage had became so real and it confuse him. But fans believed that he had come to terms with his confusion later and accepted it as a real experience. So Yeon on the other hands, always said that everything had become so real that this whole experience is confusing (but delighting) for her.

Will they marry in real life?

Lots of people had been hoping that they marry in real life. Not just fans but also people that are close to them. Now that their virtual marriage is nearing to end, we hope that they'd take a further step and make it a real relationship.
