@filchiny Being sent into cold palce is equivalent to being dethroned. In television dramas, consorts being banished to cold palace are still seen to be living in pretty palace however, in reality, unless your crime is not serious and your family has not fallen, then you'll receive such treatments. If not, you will be send to stay in a dark village house as a commoner, just like prisoners. Regarding the servants, I think one or at most two closest ones will follow them to the cold palace.

My first ever fan fiction My own story, something that we will never see in the drama...I won't elaborate small details. It's up to your imagination, how will you picture every scenario in your mind.

Because of some circumstances, it was revealed that Tanashiri had actually faked her pregnancy and that Prince Maha was not of Royal Blood, enough reason for her to be dethroned. Through the revelation of the late Emperor's Blood Vow, Seung Nyang's determination, and Wang Yoo's hard work, El Temur's clan successfully fell from power. El Temur's clan was sentenced to death, except Wang Yoo's wife, who was at that time considered a Goryeo subject. She was different from the rest of them. She had a pure heart and even promised to serve Wang Yoo even though she knew he loved someone else. Wang Yoo regained his throne, hence, officially giving his wife the title 'Queen'. 
Ta Hwan wanted to send Maha away from the palace to forget all the people and things that would remind him of his previous Empress. Days before Maha was about to be sent to the temple under the monks' custody, Seung Nyang felt sympathy for the innocent little one, thus, she volunteered to take care of him during those days, without knowing that Maha was actually her lost son. One reason why she wanted to take care of him was because she missed her son. She grew fond of him and felt that there was something special connecting them until she finally discovered that he was actually her son. She was extremely happy that after all those times, her son was alive, but terribly sad because she knew she couldn't be with him nor she could acknowledge him as her son. After learning the truth, Seung Nyang came up with something in her mind. The day when Maha was to be brought to the temple came. Seung Nyang asked Ta Hwan if she could personally send Maha there. Having a big trust on her, Ta Hwan allowed her. With the help of Eunuch Deokman, Eunuch Park, and Hong Dan, who heard the truth about Maha from Seung Nyang, they were able to hide Maha in a safe place in the palace. They did not send him to the temple, opposing Ta Hwan's order, because Seung Nyang did not wish her son to be sent away like that. Ta Hwan did not know anything and thought Maha was no longer in the palace.
The night before Seung Nyang's coronation as the Empress, she was able to talk to Wang Yoo secretly and had the courage to tell him the whole truth including the existence of their child, which she had just found out. Wang Yoo was shocked, of course. He asked her about the child's whereabouts, but she did not give him an exact answer and just said that the child was in a safe place. Prior to that, she already gave Eunuch Bang instructions on what to do. On the day of the coronation, on Wang Yoo's way back to Goryeo, he was surprised to see Eunuch Bang holding a baby. Eunuch Bang spilled the beans, everything... that it was Seung Nyang's choice to let their child grow up with his father. Wang Yoo felt extreme joy at the sight of his son, but still couldn't get over the fact that he would never have the family he had dreamed of. He went back to Goryeo with his son. He explained everything to his Queen. The Queen understood him, after all she knew that theirs was a marriage of convenience. She gladly accepted the child as her own and promised to be a good mother to him. Wang Yoo was thankful.
2 years later...
The relation between Goryeo and Yuan improved a bit, though there were still some disagreements. Goryeo got back its power. Ta Hwan also improved and was no longer an illiterate and a coward. Unexpectedly, the Turks became a problem to Yuan, so Ta Hwan, as the Emperor, now both by name and by authority, had to leave Daidu to settle everything. He was accompanied by Golta and some of his loyal men. Seung Nyang and Prime Minister Tal Tal ruled in his stead. In Goryeo, the Queen suffered an illness. She was very weak and couldn't do her duties during that time. At the same time, influenced by Yuan, the Goryeo ministers suggested a consort selection for King Wang Yoo. LOL. He initially didn't agree with it because of the condition of the Queen, but the ministers pointed out that it was the Queen's condition why they should do it all the more. The Queen was sickly, that was why they had to have some consorts, from which they could choose someone worthy to run the Inner Court on behalf of the Queen whenever she couldn't do it. Wang Yoo soon agreed. The problem was who would manage the consort selection? It's done by the Dowager or the Queen, but Goryeo had no Dowager and the Queen was sick. Half of the ministers suggested to seek help from someone who knew about running the Inner Court and Empress Ki was mentioned. One said that Goryeo and Yuan are like siblings, so why not invite Empress Ki, who was originally from Goryeo? It was awkward on Wang Yoo's part, but no one knew about his past with Empress Ki. The ministers came up with a unanimous decision and that was to invite Empress Ki as the head of King Wang Yoo's consort selection. Though Wang Yoo was not okay with it, he had to follow the ministers' advice. Empress Ki received the invitation. At first, she was hesitant to go, but she did not want to reject an invitation from her homeland. And besides, she missed Goryeo so much, and yes, she also missed Wang Yoo A LOT. She believed that may be it was fate's call to let them see each other again. It was a perfect timing since Ta Hwan was not around, so she was free as a dove. However, Tal Tal learned about the Empress' plan of leaving for Goryeo. He advised her to think about it again, but she had already decided to go for it. Empress Ki told Tal Tal to take care of everything in Yuan while she and Ta Hwan were not around. 
Empress Ki arrived at the Goryeo Palace with Eunuch Park and Hong Dan. She would stay there for 5 days for the consort selection. Wang Yoo greeted and thanked Empress Ki for coming in a nonchalant way as if nothing happened before, something that was quite a surprise to her. She missed him deep inside, but was not showing it. The first day was just about the criteria for judging and the candidates' introduction. Empress Ki was not focused, she kept on looking at Wang Yoo once in a while, but Wang Yoo was relaxed and smiling as he looked at the candidates one by one. He did not even steal a glance from her, not even once. Yes, he was acting cold to her.
On that night, Empress Ki was in a beautiful guest room especially prepared for her. She was fixing herself in front of the mirror and recalled how Wang Yoo acted, he approached her casually, and he was smiling at the candidates as if her visit did not affect him at all. She then called Eunuch Park and Hong Dan and told them that she would like to take a night walk. She was in a white night gown, wandering around the palace, with Eunuch Park and Hong Dan. In the middle of their stroll...
SN: You may leave me.EP: We cannot leave you alone, Your Majesty.HD: Yes. We are not familiar in this place.SN: Have you forgotten that we just visited our homeland? Of all people, we should be the most familiar in this place. So, leave me. I just want to be alone.
Eunuch Park and Hong Dan left. Seung Nyang wandered alone and expressed to herself how she missed Goryeo, the palace, the surroundings, the air, everything...
Wang Yoo was walking somewhere in the palace with Eunuch Bang, Moo Song, Jumbakyi, and some palace guards were with them. As they walked, Eunuch Bang reported that the Empress was staying at the most beautiful guest room as Wang Yoo ordered. Wang Yoo simply nodded and told them to keep the security tight most especially that the Yuan Empress was their guest. On their way, they met Eunuch Park and Hong Dan. Eunuch Park was recognized by Eunuch Bang right away and he paid respect to the King and so did Hong Dan.
EB: Why are you not with Empress Ki? Aren't you supposed to be with her?EP: Her Majesty wanted to take a night walk alone.HD: Yes, she told us to leave her alone. 
Wang Yoo did not seem to care and just told Eunuch Park and Hong Dan to tell him if there was something the Empress needed. Wang Yoo went on his way to retire in his quarters.
Subconsciously, Empress Ki did not notice that she entered Wang Yoo's room, the same room where he first hugged her in Episode 3. She walked around and recalled all those memories and smiled. She opened the door on her way out and to her surprise, Wang Yoo was standing there. Even Eunuch Bang and Moo Song were surprised to see her there. They faced each other for a moment as if the world had stopped. Until she came to her senses and apologized for entering his room like that. In a formal tone, she exclaimed, "Chona!". Wang Yoo was surprised to hear what she just said and so were Eunuch Bang and Moo Song. But in a second, she realized it right away and changed her tone, "I'm sorry, Wang Yoo gong." She took a step forward to leave the room, but Wang Yoo grabbed her forearm. She tried to release herself from his grasp, but he even held her tighter. Eunuch Bang and Moo Song looked at each other as sign saying, "We should leave them." They left. And that was when Wang Yoo hugged her. He hugged her tightly. She was surprised and did not know how to respond. Until she slowly hugged him back...

I almost give up dreaming about their romantic scenes which are hard to be shown more because they're married ones now...But after reading your fanfic, I found it's not a big problem anymore, who cares about their having other queen or emperor, even they dont see it as a marriage. SN & WY Heart Day Celebration:
The sun has set many hours ago. Yet sleep has not taken over SN. She has been laboring on the headband she plans on giving her chona tomorrow, a day they call Heart Day. She has thought about what to give him for weeks. Then one day under the scorching sun she saw him as if he was shining brightly with the sun's ray behind him. She thought of him as the light that he is. He is like a candle that drives away the darkness. He is their light that would guide them to a better future. At that moment she knew exactly what to give him.
She bought the finest silk and thread. she will make him a headband with the word "light" embroidered on it. Then she also bought this sturdy and durable cloth that she will also embroider the words "WY Goryeo's light" on it which he can use to tie on the sheath of his sword so that he will remember to stay alive and continue to be their light every time he needs to fight in battles.
4 more hours before the sun rises. She has to finish sewing so she can wrap it as well. She bought the finest paper as well. Will chona like it? Once again for the hundred times that day, she kept thinking if only she spend as much time practicing sewing as she did with her bow and arrow, she would've been done by now. Too late for that. I have to stop thinking and just concentrate so I can finish this before daybreak.
The king's household were all busy doing their respective errands as instructed by WY. Bang is to make sure the food and anything they would need for their planned picnic tomorrow are all set. Musong was tasked to secure the place. WY found this quiet place located on top of a mountain with a breathtaking view of Goryeo. There is this tree that provides good shade for him and SN to sit and enjoy the view. This tree is very old but it looked majestic.
WY was smiling thinking of SN. He doesn't know it but Bang and Musong sure knows he is thinking of SN every time he smiles for no reason. They both knew what is on their king's mind. (As we do the readers! LOL!!!!)
The day she accepted  my proposal was the happiest I have ever been in my whole life. With her beside me as my queen, I know I can lead my people to a better life. She saved my life and is willing to give her life for me because she believed I am the one who will lead our people to a better life. This woman, my woman....she gives me so much strength. With her I know I can lead my people with dignity and make their lives better than what it has been so far.
Finally, SN gives a deep sigh of relief. It is done. She is smiling widely looking at her finished work. Her thumb and forefinger were tied with a thin strip of cloth from being pricked endlessly! She quickly gets the paper and carefully wrapped the headband and sheath cover she made. With that she rested her head and fell asleep with a smile on her face.
Chona! Bang's voice echoing through the room. WY orders him in. Bang entering with a huge smile on his face. Musong after bowing to him asked if he should set out to pick up SN and escort her to the place. WY ordered him to do so. Musong couldn't help but give him a mischievous smile, bowed and left to do his bidding. bang then proceeded to do the King's morning rituals.
It was early still but SN was already awake. He heart was just overflowing with joy. She still could not believe that he chona felt the same for her as she did for him. She never even thought it would be possible. She have loved him since the day he ordered his men to release them. He was young then but he already had strong convictions. she knew from that day on that she will live her life serving him. But to marry him.....How can I be so blessed? Maybe in my past life I must have done some great deeds to deserve this.
Enough thinking SN! I have to get up and prepare. I will put up my hair in a bun. I want him to see clearly the pin he gave me, she thought with a smile. Today I will wear woman's clothes. I can stop pretending now. Besides it would shame him if i appear in my usual man's clothes. He has sent me this dress to wear for today. It is so beautiful. This silk blue dress with white jasmines printed on it, the silver silk belt and this soft blue wrap....Bang must have picked these. he thoughts were interrupted by Musong's call.
They arrived at the place. Musong complimented her. he said chona would be so pleased. that is a relief. I have known Musong  for some time. I know he wasn't lying. So at least my appearance won't be a let down. Now I just have to hope he likes my gift.
WY alighted from his horse when he saw SN standing with her back to him. she was standing there already looking like a queen. she was looking at the view. He ordered his men to stay back. they are to stay there until he calls for them. He took his guitar with him and walked towards SN. His steps getting quicker as eh approaches her. Musong seeing him was walking towards him. He knew he would want to be alone with SN. Once again the mischievous smile and bow and off he goes.
SN didn't hear him approach. WY put down his guitar and put his arms around her chest. She gave a startled gasp.. She turned around and he had to step back and just take in her beauty. He was in awe of her. It made SN shy and her face reddened. WY then stepped forward and gave her a hug. He told her " Happy Heart Day".  she said the same thing. They stood there like that for what seems like a very long time. When their emotions settled down they both stepped back and SN said: "Chona, thank you for your gift. This is such a beautiful dress!" "no other woman could wear that dress and be as pretty as you are." WY said.  "But that is not my Heart Day gift for you." he continues. "Sit down". He then gets his guitar and said, "i composed this song for you. the title is This Woman is a Precious Jewel" He then proceeded to play it for her. SN was so overwhelmed with emotion that by the end of the song, tears were falling down her cheeks. it was so lovely. She stood up, walked towards him and gave him the tightest embrace ever, whispering "thank you for such a lovely song. I love you". WY hugged her back and after some time took her arms sat her in front him wiped away her tears with his finger and kissed both her eyes. She laughed and she then took out her present for him. Chona, this is not much, but I hope you  like it. He accepted it and started to tear the wrapper. when he saw what it was, SN explained what it meant and it was WY's turn to be teary eyed and he took SN's hand. It was then that he noticed the strip of cloth covering her fingers. He looked at ehr and knew that it was because she was not so adept at sewing that she pricked her fingers. She kissed each of her fingers saying "Thank you for all your hard work. My queen, you gave me the perfect gift." He looked into her eyes and started to lean forward until he found her lips.

OMG! I didn't realized my fan fiction was so long! Since it was VD, it got me thinking how would our OTP spend VD? And voila, this is how my mind imagined it to be. My mind went so much further than the last line BUT I ended it there. ) I got carried away. I was just typing things that came to mind. I didn't even realized how long it was until i posted it.
