I rewatched the Seollal episode yesterday where Junho and Jongmin wanted to prank their hyung when they wrote his name on the KBS graffiti wall with a heart. Although it was meant to be a prank but it made their hyung smile. I somehow wish that it never get erased and would stay there as a mark that he is well loved by his fans and 1n2d family.

Watching the members' message made me cry again especially Joon Young's. :bawling:

Joon Young said "A cool hyung, a most precious hyung to me.. When I had to take a break from the program for a while, when I returned to South Korea, I contacted the hyungs and (Joohyuk) hyung came to me immediately because he was afraid I was having a hard time.. I'm sorry I couldn't be beside you.. I wanted to see you quickly".

I knew he'd blame himself for not being there for his hyung. I've been his fan for few years and this is the first time I saw him crying like that in front of camera. He never showed that side of him. :bawling:

how cruel of kbs....to ask the members to record a tribute to him when he passed barely a week ago..it's yet another cruel slap of the truth that their mat-hyung is gone. I understand that kbs wanted to prepare this tribute for viewers to recollect their memories and as a dedication to Kim Joo Hyuk but :(

Started rewatching S3E1 yesterday and it felt bittesweet. Even though he's no longer part of the cast, I know that he remained friends with the group. And to see them devastated over his loss is heart breaking.

I feel like I've loss a good friend too. And I'm sure, most of us here feel the same way. He has made an impact to all of us here and somehow, there's a void. I prayed for him and for the people who love him too. May his family and friends find the strength in this trying time.

The ever reliable Cha Taehyun. When everyone is up he hangs down, fueling fire into their jokes just like Joonho said. When everyone is feeling down, he pushes himself up to take good care of everything.

He was the chief mourner in Joohyuk's wake, receiving guests and escorting their leaves. And when the others couldn't express their feelings, throats choked and clogged with sadness, the crybaby smile and cheerful instead, showing their hyung a place that has a very special meaning to him.

I will cry again when watching the episode. Buckets of them, I'm sure. After that, I think, I will be able to let go a large part of this heavy heart, to finally able to let him go.

And everyone else, be strong, cry but don't surrender to crying. We will be expecting more funny episodes later on.. I hope they get to rest and not try to get back to work soon as it will be a punishment for them..

I don't want to get back to work. :(

“2 Days & 1 Night” Members Record Final Goodbye Messages For Kim Joo Hyuk At The End Of Special “In Memoriam” Episode

2-days-1-night1.jpg

On November 5, KBS’s “2 Days & 1 Night” aired a special “in memoriam” episode in honor of former member Kim Joo Hyuk.

The “in memoriam” episode, announced only the same morning, featured highlights of his time on the variety show, including his first meeting with the cast, his earning of the nickname Gutaengie-Hyung, the appearance of his close friends like his agency head and actress Moon Geun Young, the time the show revisited photographs of his parents, and finally his last episode as a regular cast member.

At the end of the episode, the “2 Days & 1 Night” members recorded their final farewells to their former castmate, including Jung Joon Young, who was not able to attend the funeral after the news of his passing was delayed by communication issues on “Law of the Jungle.”

In Jung Joon Young’s message, he said, “Hyung was always a cool hyung to us and more beloved than anyone. When I was on hiatus from ‘2 Days & 1 Night,’ I contacted all the hyungs as soon as I arrived back in Korea, but Joo Hyuk hyung thought I might have been having a hard time so he came to see me in person. You came to see me when I was having a hard time, but I’m so sorry that I was not able to do the same for you. I want to go to your side now as fast as possible.”

Also shedding tears, Kim Jun Ho said, “We will never forget you. Our Gutaengie-hyung, I hope you can rest in peace in a good place now.”

Cha Tae Hyun filmed his video message in front of the Myeongdong Cathedral, saying, “I came here because I wanted to show you this place. In our last filming together, we visited places where we made good memories with you. You mentioned this place, thinking one of us might have come here. This is where you took your composite photograph with your parents [earlier on the show]. I really wanted to show you this place. Of course, you can probably see it better from where you are now, but even still I wanted to show it to you.”

At the end of the video messages, the production staff revealed a video that Kim Joo Hyuk had sent them two weeks ago to commemorate the show’s 10th anniversary.

In the video, Kim Joo Hyuk said, “Congratulations on your 10th anniversary. It’s really impressive for a show to go on for 10 years. I think this is all due to the viewers. I hope that the members can work even harder from now on so that a program like ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ doesn’t have to end. I say this every time, but I really miss the show, and I am always cheering the members on.”

The beloved actor passed away in a car accident on October 30 at the age of 45. He was a cast member of “2 Days & 1 Night” from the beginning of Season 3 until December 2015.

Im sure they must have discussed this. If the members didnt want to do it, they would have said no, and the production team would have understood. This must be what the members wanted to do as well, not just in remembrance of JooHyuk whom they love, but also to share with its viewers who also loved JooHyuk. Just appreciate what the members did, even in their pain. I am glad they share their pain with the viewers, because it gives us the assurance we are not alone in our pain too.. and we will all remember JooHyuk in our hearts forever, together with the members who also loved him.

The first time Joon Young posted that picture was when Joo Hyuk left the show. Now the second time he posted it when Joohyuk left this world forever. It's so heartbreaking. :bawling:

He visited the grave yesterday morning and from what he wrote in the caption, he'll visit the grave again soon. I wonder if he went alone or anyone went with him. But somehow I felt he went alone because he wanted to have some time alone with his hyung.

There's been a dark cloud over my head for the last week; I've been rewatchcing clips and thinking so much about Gutaeng hyung and how the boys are doing. I'm glad they aired this special and I appreciate the video messages at the end. I think that instead of seeing them next time laughing happily, we needed this moment of reality to see them grieve for their hyung.

Honestly, I thought I'd cried enough before with the few tears I shed here and there but watching the last part of the special at home with no one around, all of the sadness came pouring out. We feel it this much...so I can only try to imagine how his friends feel. Watching the Gimje grandmas yesterday and that bit where he took the photograph with his Gimje mom made me wonder how she's feeling. She's grieving too for the temporary son that touched her life in such a special way. We all grieve for this man that was so well-loved and cherished. I'm glad we have this forum too; it's the only place I can go to express myself and stand in solidarity with the 1N2D community.

Gutaeng Hyung, for sure, he'll never be forgotten. <3

Yeah that's probably what viewers would want to see, guess the timing was just too soon for me, I was actually thinking the video messages would come a year later, when they have a remembrance episode. Hope the video messages gave the members some form of closure too

Well, there isn't really such a thing as a perfect timing for this kind of situation. Whether it's next week, next month or next year, they'll have to do it anyway. They just have to do it during the mourning period, so they (and the show) can move on and and avoid lingering too long in grief. Maybe at the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018, they'll be less mournful and will only look back at the happy memories.

Meanwhile, I thought I'm done bawling.

Jung Joon Young Posts Touching Farewell Message To Kim Joo Hyuk

Kim-Joo-Hyuk-Jung-Joon-Young.jpg

Jung Joon Young has written about former “2 Days & 1 Night” co-star and close friend Kim Joo Hyuk on his personal Instagram account.

The pair have been close since starring on the variety show together. Unfortunately, Jung Joon Young was unable to find out about Kim Joo Hyuk’s passing in time to attend his wake and funeral.

He wrote, “Our hyung, I greeted him yesterday early in the morning. Please rest in peace Joo Hyuk hyung whom I love. I still can’t believe it, but I will try to live thinking of you as always smiling and watching over us. Thank you and I love you so much. There is so much that I want to say but I will tell you when I go visit you in person again. I miss you hyung.”

Meanwhile, “2 Days & 1 Night” recently aired a special “in memoriam” episode in honor of Kim Joo Hyuk. The cast members recorded final goodbye messages to their beloved member.
