Yesterday Wayne Lai, Moses Chan, Fala Chen, Sire Ma and Jason Chan attended the promotional event for TVB anniversary series Will Power in Tsuen Wan. Although Fala is no longer contracted with TVB, she still attended the event, but the other female lead Christine Ng was still absent. At the promotion, the cast were paired up to play a mouth-pulling paper game with their teeth. Wayne and Sire won by pulling the paper 30cm long, but Moses and Fala immediately split after the game was over, perhaps afraid Moses' wife Aimee Chan might get jealous?

Moses expressed aside from anticipating his new series airing, he has many other events to look forward to. Asked if he's anticipating for the birth of his son? He laughed: "I don't dare to say that, my career is still the priority." Asked about the baby's name? Moses expressed he cannot announce the name yet nor do they plan asking a fortune teller to help them choose a name. "Our parents will give the baby a name. The most important is the name matches my baby's nature. Naming a baby is about the feeling. (You give him the Chinese name, and your wife gives him the English name?) Many decisions are made by us together."

Wayne expressed when collaborating with Moses, he will always offer you loads of coffee. He joked perhaps next time Moses might start offering milk instead. When speaking of the TV King battle, Wayne said: "No competition, this year Moses should get it. The baby brings him good luck, perhaps that day its going to be double happiness. He'll have the award on one hand, and carrying his baby on the other. (Your letting Moses win?) He's prosperous this year, he deserves it!"

This is the first time Fala is participating in a TVB promotion after her contract expired. In Will Power, it is also Fala's first most implicit role since her entry into the industry. So does that mean Fala can't show her most beautiful side? She laughed: "Don't have to show it in every series. This time I portray a lawyer. I've done all my homework before the shoot. In the series, I have two very strong co-stars. I have a few boxing scenes opposite of Wayne that was very enjoyable."

Fala Will Accommodate Series Promotions

Asked who Fala supports for TV King? She said: "Its hard to choose, they are both just as good and have different styles. I don't know how to compare them. The most important is gaining love and popularity from the audience. They are both especially popular actors, so this year's TV King battle is quite fierce. Also there is Francis Ng and Chilam Cheung in the race. I support them all. As for TV Queen, I don't support myself any year, I just hope to participate and its good enough to be nominated." Fala said she actually likes short hair, and hopes her look in the series will start a new trend.

It was rumored since Fala left TVB, she declined to take part in her TVB series promotions? Fala denied: "Last Thursday, I had another event to attend and have already told the Will Power long ago that my schedule conflicted with the first promotional event. Honestly, I will attend promotional events that happen on other days. (You didn't participate in any of the previous Triumph in the Skies II promotions either?) Did I not promote the series enough? When there is a promotion event, I try my best to be part of them. There was a period of time I was still studying in the US when the TITS2 promotions happened. I remember one time due to the time difference, I agreed to do an interview in the middle of the night. I did as many promotions as I could!" Asked whether Fala will forget about her maternal home TVB after leaving them? Fala expressed she puts a lot of effort in all of her roles, especially Will Power is an anniversary series, she will definitely participate in the promotions.

Grateful of Kelly Chen's Encouragement

Asked if she's already signed under Kelly Chen's manager Claudie Chung? Fala said she has not decided yet and joked everyone does hope she finds a good place to settle down. She expressed freelance feels good. Kelly Chen expressed Fala is honest and upright, its her time to charge forward in her career. Fala was grateful of Kelly's comment: "Thank you Kelly for the encouragement. I like her songs and films too. I regard her as someone who I can learn from." Fala anticipates to work with a future manager who is flexible; she enjoys having more freedom and time to study the scripts.

TVB's anniversary series "Will Power" has received a lot of criticisms over inconsistencies and errors despite just recently premiered.

As reported on Mingpao website, the legal drama, which premiered on 14 October, stars Wayne Lai and Moses Chan as lawyers Yu and Lee respectively, two rival solicitors who would do anything to defeat each other in court.

However, while both actors gave their best performances, just like most TVB series, "Will Power" fell short of viewers' expectations and was accused of not paying attention to detail, as well as failure in doing thorough research.

In one of the episodes, Lee (played by Moses Chan) submitted a photo of Yu, apparently taken in the courthouse, to the court in order to prove a point. However, in reality, taking pictures in a courthouse is prohibited by Hong Kong law.

Netizens also criticised a scene whereby Chief Judge Luk (played by Christine Ng) claimed that she was appointed by the Department of Justice, although in real life, her post is actually assigned by the Judiciary of Hong Kong.

Since the series was selected as the anniversary series that will put Wayne Lai and Moses Chan on the list as nominees for TV King, the mistakes were considered inexcusable.

Jason Chan has been in the industry for 8 years and is one of TVB's currently heavily promoted artists. In the currently airing TVB series Will Power, Jason Chan plays a new lawyer in training "Ching Ka Ming", who came back from England and works in the same law firm as Wayne Lai's role as his apprentice. Jason said: "Ka Ming grew up in a single parent home, he is very filial to his mother. Will he turn bad? Not really, he later makes impulsive decisions and cause some conflicts at home." As for his other series Semi-Evil Person, which is currently filming now, Jason also plays a lawyer. "When I first heard the title of this series, I thought I had an opportunity to portray a villain, but it turns out my role just has a bad mouth. I'm often bickering with Roger Kwok and to get up top, I start spreading rumors. It's not considered a villain role." Many people have asked Jason whether he feels bored portraying the same well-behaved guy time after time, but finally no need to ask anymore, Jason expresses his thoughts: "Although I do hope to portray other types of roles, actually I don't mind continuing as a good boy nor will I purposely pursue a villain role."

Jason was born and raised in England, his family owns a Chinese restaurant and has two brothers -- one older and one younger. His elder brother is a dentist, while his younger brother is an optometrist. Jason is a graduate at the University of London School of Oriental and Africian Studies (SOAS). His family wanted him to become a professional too and had previously worked in administration at the a hospital in London for two years, but he thought the work was too boring. At the age of 25, Jason's childhood dreams of becoming a celebrity came back. Since he grew up watching Hong Kong TV series, and seeing stars like Daniel Wu and Wang Lee Hom joining the entertainment industry after coming back from oversea, plus he knew Cantonese, Mandarin and can read Chinese, Jason decided to give it a try too. Back in HK, Jason started out as an English tutor, then entered the 20th TVB Artistes Training Class in 2005. After graduation, he was sent out to TVB Pearl, the English channel, to host a life program. The pure and simple looking Jason later got the opportunity to participate in TV series, such as Be Home For Dinner's pastry chef and his first leading role Missing You as the social worker. With his excellent educational background, healthy image and good looks, no wonder Jason has so many school girl fans.

Late Entry in Showbiz Benefits

"Actually I think the most important is to work with seniors in every series. Just like this time in Will Power, I got to learn from Wayne Lai and Ah Mo (Moses Chan). I was really excited. Wayne has more scenes opposite of me, he frequently gives me pointers, like how to study the script. His wife and son often visits us on the set, I could see how much he loves his family and how great their relationship is. Compared to Wayne, Ah Mo is a funny person, like a big kid."

35 year old Jason started his acting career later than most artists, but fortunately he possesses a baby face and his personality is like a big kid. He's full of expressions when he speaks and the experienced he gained from society before entering the industry is a benefit too. "Many have said its easy to follow bad examples in showbiz, but I didn't enter until age 26. I've seen a lot more of life and know my direction in life, so its a benefit."

At first Jason used going to Mainland to find development opportunities as an excuse. He went back to HK without his family knowing and after entering TVB, he didn't have many jobs, and his elder brother had to financially support him. Jason frankly expressed his family started worrying about him: "I remember what my father said to me on the phone, if I'm not happy in HK, then come back and open up a restaurant." In the recent year, Jason is finally getting promoted, he's busy hosting a travel show and shooting TV series. Of course now, his family in England does not need to worry about him anymore. "My parents read all my news, but they usually give me a few 'kicks' as an encouragement, like they would tell me to get better in acting and when I have time, learn singing and dancing." Jason's family support is his driving force.

The New Generation "Seun Poon"

The previous "seun poon" Moses Chan is now a father, Jason Chan and his peers Kenneth Ma and Ruco Chan have been seen as the TV industry's "new generation seun poon". Jason laughed and said he's not like Moses, who can brew such nice coffee, but he isn't a gamer either. He is considered the type with taste, his greatest interest is researching watches. "I like to find out different brands of watches, their designs and history. I'm not up to the point where I'm collecting watches, but I like to go to watch stores to look at them. I do buy watches, but the most important is if it fits my liking. I don't like how some people just buy watches just because other people have them." Jason is still renting a home now, he hopes to save up quick and buy a home for himself soon, then find the 'seun poon' in his heart. "But the housing prices are just too high now, so I haven't been looking, haha."

Wayne Lai Claims He's More Popular than HK Chief Executive CY Leung

Tuesday October 22, 2013 Hong Kong

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net

Yesterday Wayne Lai, Moses Chan, Christine Ng, Jason Chan and Samantha Ko attended TVB anniversary series Will Power's promotional event held in Kowloon Bay. The cast were split into two teams to play boxing. In the series, Wayne suffers from a stroke and all of a sudden he recovers. He said: "That's to add some drama, otherwise will we have to wait 3 years for me to recover? My role will have to recover from the stroke one day because a drama is a drama. There is a time limit and if we follow reality, its going to get really boring. The audience knows better!"

In regards to HKTV's failure to get licensed, Wayne expressed TVB welcomes former colleagues back and he also urged them to come back home. "Coming back is very normal, just like Lydia Sum and Ho Sau Shun, they used to be at ATV, but eventually came back." As for the current government? Wayne sighed: "Our government, just let it be. Its like lacking political wisdom. Really helpless." Wayne joked if he ran for Hong Kong Chief Executive, he'll definitely be more popular than CY Leung (Leung Chun Ying) because when he goes out on the street, many citizens wave to him.

Christine Ng believed the more choices given to TV audience, the better. Its just like a woman can have many pairs of shoes and handbags, nobody will think its too much. When speaking of Netizens telling ATV to close their business? She said: "I came from this TV station too, don't tell someone to close their business. I watch their channel aTV Classic." Yesterday was Christine's first time attending Will Power's promotion. It was said she rather go on vacation than to promote her series. She clarified was on vacation thus wasn't able to attend. She said: "I have known Chilam Cheung and his wife Anita Yuen for over 20 years, we have planned a trip together for a long time. I took off from work before I went."

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

This isn't Vincent Wong's first time portraying a rich boy, but in TVB anniversary series Will Power, he indeed is a scum that stood out. In the series, Gilbert (Vincent) has a smart lawyer girlfriend Eugene (Fala Chen), but didn't cherish her and even had an affair with lengmo NaNa (Sire Ma). Episode 21, after his mother (Susan Tse) finds out about his affair and him doing drugs, she angrily smacked him 24 times! In tonight's episode 22, Gilbert even rapes NaNa.

Gets Miserably Slapped 24 Times

Last year in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, Vincent had a record of 13 slaps by Damian Lau, who played his father. The '13 slaps' became a big discussion topic among Netizens, but to our surprise, this year Vincent breaks that record in Will Power. When his mother (Susan) finds out about his drug addiction, she angrily slaps him 24 times, each slap was loud and forceful.

Netizens saw Vincent's face turning red as he got slapped and felt bad for him! Some teased him, saying that he should be used to being slapped. Vincent knows his role Gilbert is just too naughty and deserves those slaps. Yesterday he posted a photo on Weibo of him touching his face: "Mother! Sorry! You have to deal with such a bad boy!" Susan Tse comforted him: "Good boy, did mom hurt you? Give you a kiss!" Vincent replied: "No pain, no pain! Bad boys deserved to get hit! There will be more to come!"

Vincent accepted an interview and recalled they had to film that scene 3 times. He said: "The first time, Susan went too easy on me, but if it was just one slap, I could give a reaction, 24 slaps its difficult for me to react. I told Susan not to feel bad because I had the experience before. Susan did use force, but she was careful too."

Early Stage of Depression Worried Wife Yoyo Chen

Portraying a scum isn't easy to do, but portraying scum who is also a drug addict is even harder. Vincent expressed he asked a good friend to help him: "This time my role Gilbert was taking Cat (Methcathinone). The drug makes you feel excited for a short period of time. For the role, I asked a friend who had taken drugs before to find out what the effects were after taking the drug. The friend said drinking a strong alcoholic drink looks the closest to a person who just had drugs. I used this method each time. We were filming the series for 3 months and I had about 20 bottles of whiskey. So when you all watch the Sire Ma rape scene or see my red face in the court scenes, then you know why. I personally do drink, so I don't get drunk that easily."

Vincent continued: "That time during filming, I would get home at 3am, but still lock myself in a room to think about how I should do the scene." At first, Vincent thought this behavior was short-term, but after several months, the situation didn't get better, his wife Yoyo Chen started to worry. "I didn't drink anymore, but I couldn't sleep through the night. I felt so down and my wife took me to see the physicist. The doctor said I was in the early stages of depression, but I only went to see the doctor twice and I was all better!"

Rape Scene Felt Too Real, Sire Ma Scared of Vincent

Depression can get serious, Vincent still had a young wife and daughter, but he didn't regret being too extreme on his acting: "The next day after the rape scene, Sire Ma suddenly stopped talking to me. I asked her why? She said when she got home, she couldn't get the scene off her mind, it felt like I really did rape her, so she was really afraid of me. Honestly, if the outcome is good, I really don't regret what I did to prepare for the scene. Although some people may think my acting style is too extreme, but I think its the most fitting for me. I will continue using this method in the future."
