@pangia  mini-series air twice a week, 1 hour per episode, and has around 16-24 episodes only.  it takes about 2-3 months to film a mini-series.
Whereas, daily dramas air 5x a week, 30 minutes per episode, and normally have 120 or more episodes. Normally, actors like JHJ who have already made a name for themselves in the industry stay away from daily dramas because they are quite long, very difficult to make, very difficult to stay focused.  In addition, KD is a historical drama, thus even more difficult to film.  In the case of KD, people estimate that they will be filming this drama for 6 or more months.
A daily historical drama is also different from the historical drama that airs only 2x a week.  A historical drama that airs only 2x a week (like Seo Dong Yo, for example) needs to film only 2 hours worth of scenes per week.  While a daily drama needs to film 2.5 hours worth of scenes per week.  So, every week, a daily drama is pressured to produce more content compared to the 2x-a-week drama.  

That is why during the press conference, the director said that JHJ is a gift to them.  The director said that many of the actors they approached for the various roles in the drama would tell them that the story is really good upon reading the story synopsis, but many didn't confirm because of the difficulty in filming a daily historical drama. They may have offered the role to JHJ, but most probably they never thought he would accept it.  They just took a chance that JHJ might accept the role.   To their surprise, JHJ accepted it.  Seo Hyun Jin also said that she was really very surprised when JHJ accepted the role.  
re: Gucheon's name - I am just following the spelling from Google Translate.  The English subs spell it as Kuchon.  
Even Nae Suk's name is confusing.  The English subs call him Hae, but in KD's official website, he is called Nae. Confusing! 8-|

The article just mentions that Myeong Nong (JHJ) will be able to identify the Goguryeo spy, the fire in his eyes instilling fear among the court officials.  In the meantime, Jinmu (JTS) will incur the anger of King Muryeong for his playboy ways.  
But it seems Jinmu is just hiding his ambitions, because later he will have a conversation with Dalsol Yon, and his eyes will be burning with ambition.

반면 태자 명농(조현재)은 고구려의 세작을 정확히 지목하고, 대신들은 태자를 두려움에 질린 눈으로 본다. 또, 진무는 연불태(김병옥)와의 대화에서 야심찬 눈빛을 일렁이는 모습을 내보여 궁금증을 자아낸다.

 Thanks so much @prissymom now I understand it so much better :D JHJ is really a humble person to take on this project...one of the reason I really love about him. And I agreed, he is doing a fabulous job as Crown Prince...I'm glad he is back on another historical drama, he just looks so handsome in historical clothing.

MBC 일일사극 '제왕의 딸, 수백향'의 주인공 서현진, 서우, 조현재, 전태수가 본격적으로 등장했다.

지난 15일 방송된 '제왕의 딸, 수백향' 11회에는 융(이재룡)과 채화(명세빈)의 엇갈린 사랑의 결실인 수백향(설난/서현진)이 아름다운 여인으로 자라난 모습이 공개됐다. 총기 있는 눈매를 가진 설난은 아버지 무령대왕의 눈빛을 빼닮은 모습이었다. 채화와 구천(윤태영) 사이에서 태어난 딸 설희(서우)는 온 동네 소년들의 마음을 훔치는 수려한 외모를 가진 여인으로 성장했다.

명농(조현재)은 위엄있는 백제의 태자로 성장해 카리스마 넘치는 모습을 보여줬다. 그는 신하들 사이에 숨어 지내던 고구려의 세작을 정확히 지목해 신하들은 물론 무령대왕까지 놀라게 만들었다. 용의자에 대한 집요한 뒷조사와 정확한 추리는 신하들을 두려움에 질리게 했다.

진무(전태수)는 문란한 사생활로 무령대왕의 분노를 샀다. 무령대왕은 진무에게 벼루를 던지며 불같이 화를 냈다. 명농을 대하는 인자관후한 무령의 목소리는 진무를 더욱 초라하게 만들었고, 무령이 자신의 친아버지인줄 꿈에도 모르는 진무는 연불태(김병옥)와 합심해 무령왕을 살해하려는 역모를 꾀했다. 명농과 진무의 뒤바뀐 운명을 알고 있는 유일한 인물인 홍림(정석용)은 세 사람의 모습을 보며 안타까워했다. 

지난 11회 방송에서 첫 등장한 임세미는 어설픈 왕후의 모습으로 시청자들의 웃음을 자아냈다. 은혜왕후는 무령대왕의 충신 내숙의 외동딸로 어린 나이에 무령대왕에게 시집을 와 아버지와 어머니를 그리워하는 철없는 소녀로 그려진다. 무령대왕은 어린 왕후를 아버지처럼 품어줬다. 앞으로 웅진궁의 안주인으로 성장해 어떤 영향력을 발휘할지 기대를 모으고 있다.

한편, 채화는 위태로웠던 과거의 모습을 떨쳐내고 구천과 행복한 삶을 살아가고 있었다. 하지만 뻐꾸기 새끼가 까치의 알을 둥지 밖으로 내모는 채화의 불길한 꿈이 그려져 이들의 불안한 앞날을 예고했다. 

'제왕의 딸, 수백향'은 백제 무령왕의 딸 '수백향'의 일대기를 다룬 사극으로, 백제국의 파란만장한 가족사와 그들의 처절한 사랑 이야기를 담아낼 예정이다. 몰입도 높은 전개와 화려한 영상미, 배우들의 안정감 있는 연기로 호평 받고 있다. 방송은 매주 월~금요일 저녁 8시 55분. 김표향 기자 suzak@sportschosun.com

드디어 네 명의 주인공 남녀가 모두 모습을 드러냈다. 


15일 방송된 MBC 특별기획 <제왕의 딸, 수백향>에서는 이야기의 중심을 이룰 설난(서현진)-설희(서우)-명농(조현재)-진무(전태수) 네 인물들이 17년 후 성장한 모습으로 등장, 스토리 전개에 박차를 가했다. 


이날 등장한 네 인물들은 짧은 에피소드로 개성 강한 캐릭터를 드러내며 이후 이 성격으로 인해 운명의 소용돌이가 형성될 것을 예고했다. 


가장 먼저 설난은 강보에 싸인 동생에게 뱀이 다가오자 어린 나이에도 두려움보다는 동생을 지켜야 한다는 사명감에 나뭇가지로 뱀을 내치는 용기를 가진 인물로 그려졌다. 17년 이후 총명하고 지혜로운 여인으로 성장한 설난은 동생 설희에 대해서라면 위험도 무릅쓸만큼 끔찍한 언니로, 동생을 향한 애정이 곧 약점인 운명을 안고 자랐다. 


동생 설희는 마을 청년들을 가슴 설레게 만드는 절세미인으로 성장했다. 그녀의 시선이 드리워지기만을 오매불망 기다리는 청년들이 주변에 가득하고 낭떨어지와 같은 위험이 도사리고 있더라도 아름다운 것에 대해서는 끝내 갖고자 하는 욕망이 있는 인물로 그려졌다. 


무령왕(이재룡)의 아들이자 백제의 태자로 성장한 명농은 백제 사신들 사이에 섞여있는 고구려의 첩자를 색출해낼만큼 명석한 두뇌와 카리스마로 위엄을 자랑했다. 무엇 하나 빠지지 않는 그의 스팩은 곧 설난과 설희 자매의 의를 갈라놓을만큼 탐을 낼만한 인물이 될 것으로 보인다.


마지막으로 죽은 동명왕(정찬)의 아들인 진무는 무령왕의 기대를 만족시키지 못하는 처지를 한탄하며 술과 여색으로 여생을 즐기는 사고뭉치 호색한으로 그려졌다. 술을 마시고 친 사고 때문에 무령왕으로부터 혼줄이 나고도 명농에게 또다시 유곽에 술을 마시러 가자고 제안하는 그의 호색한적 기질은 훗날 백제에서도 이름난 미인인 설난, 설희 자매와의 만남을 필연적으로 이끌게 될 것으로 보인다. 


네 남녀의 본격적인 등장으로 스토리에 탄력을 받게 될 <제왕의 딸, 수백향>은 매주 월-금 저녁 8시 55분에 방송된다.
