Hello fellow watchers,

Enjoy reading the interesting comments of late, glad to see more viewers here it gives good vibes all round.  As long as our discussions are respectful of the other’s opinions and whether for or against it goes to show our interest and fun in communicating about our fave daily drama SBH.

Key:- Soo Baek Hyang (SBH), Crown Prince (MN), Seolnan (SN), Seolhi (SH), Grand Marshal (GM), Jinmu (JM),  fake name for  SH  SH/ “SBH”  or “SBH”, Toldae – TLD, Manggu – MGG, BI Moon (spy unit), SL – Soup Lady/Yo Uki, Khobak – KBK, Kucheon –KC, Chae Hwa - CH.  

The live streaming today was horrible, so it’s a late recap for you all.  As for subs, I notice that after Tuesday they start rolling in up to Thursday’s episode so we are never that far behind its usually by a day.

Episode 33

 It starts with the latter part of episode 32 with JM stating that he will use SH/ “SBH”  to destroy the king. The aide disagrees and leaves, we hear JM stating by himself & aloud that SH/ “SBH”  is a fraud and its possible that the real one is either dead / out there.  During this time SN is teaching TLD & MGG to write, the king is looking at JM’s portraits from childhood to adulthood, the artist is finishing the painting of the ‘royal family’.  You can hear and feel JM’s anger/pain in this narration of his plan to destroy the king through SH/ “SBH” .

It’s a new day SH/ “SBH” personal maid is taking care of her feet, she’s ticklish, JM starts his plan with flowers at the door.At training camp, MGG is drawing & TLD is learning to write, SN is sleeping.  TLD tries to wake her up with no success to help him, MGG uses food to call her, she is up they laugh.  Training chief comes in with his assistants with makeup – so the training is in disguise, where they are to do reconnaissance without being discovered.  However, if they fail they are automatically out.  They drew sticks to show where they are to go using disguises MGG & TLD spoke to SN as to where each of them are going, she told them hers & MGG teases her = bloody nose. They are to leave and return without being discovered. They are given a demonstration on putting on a disguise – the assistant is good and the students all practice putting on makeup/disguises after which they leave the training camp. MGG & TLD are having fun, the training chief sends out one of the trainees out as a test.  He is found beaten up because he was discovered and got kicked out.  It shows the seriousness of the situation to the other trainees as pointed out by the chief.  The trainees go to their respective locations & assignments.

We have a funny scene between TLD in disguise and SL as he had to visit the kitchen for his task, he tests her faithfulness to him when he took her outside – she passed with 'flying colors’. MGG  did his task okay as well, he saw TLD’s trick with SL and almost tell SL on him.   Its’ SN’s turn, she went to the flower house with her instructions, receive the flowers, however, the chief florist while doing her task asks her a question, SN paused a bit & gave the right answer the lady gave her permission to go ( something tells me that this is possible SN future spy teacher).  SN leaves the flower house.  We now have SH/ “SBH”   happily leaving the library she and her personal maid are talking. SH/ “SBH”   talks about the past life with her family especially about her younger sister who is pitiful, says that person is dead etc.  

SN has completed her task, however she dropped something, she went back to get it and glimpses SH/ “SBH” & hears her voice.  Being SN she forgets tasks & follows SH/ “SBH”, but she is stopped by the personal maid who asks her some questions, SN has to come up with some good answers.  The maid calls the guard, MN saves her, SN fake faints after – funny scene and leaves with MN laughing.  MN is talking & KBK mentions SN of course MN is protesting to KBK words which results in a cute smile from KBK at the end (KBK should smile more). SN reaches the camp - late but safe.  The personal maid tells SH/ “SBH” about the strange maid who said that the reason that she followed her was because her voice sounds familiar to her, she ignores it.  The king aide calls the royal family together to see the completed portrait which she likes a lot, she got her own personal portrait as well making her happy .  

At camp SN team are game playing at night, SN is thinking about SH, missing her.  The next day at the archery field, SN is shooting but not hitting, her fingers bled and we have the arrival of MN with his handy white handkerchief, wrapping her hand & a bit fussing over her.   SN stares at MN at the end– which implies we will be having the romance arc soon (its’ about time).  Preview shows SN being taught archery by MN with an incentive and improving as well.  Plus SH/ “SBH” exerting her power, possible JM plans to seduce SH/ “SBH” saying it has started.

Maybe there will be another fire, and Kuchon will save her (like he saved Chae Hwa in the past).  Maybe while saving her, Seolhee will be disfigured. Therefore, she will have no choice but to hide away from people and live a simple life, with only Kuchon for company, the father she dislikes so much.  Living this kind of life can also be considered a tragedy if you are someone like Seolhee.
Seolhee may hate her former life, but she is more suitable for it than Seolnan.  Remember those scenes when they are digging for root crops?  Seolhee was very good at it, while Seolnan was so inept at that task.

Remember CH also dreamt about a cuckoo, and asked the meaning of the dream to the women (now dead), who gave her an explanation, which I don't think she got the meaning of.  And also before she died she realised that she had mistakenly revealed SN's heritage to SH, and perhaps that's when she realised the meaning of the cuckoo, to the extent that while she was dying she was earnestly saying to SN that she was SBH (knowing that SN was the cuckoo), unfortunately SN didn't understand.

      However, SN knows the meaning of her name whereas SH doesn't, and actually, if memory recalls, when asked by the King, she said she forgot.  Incidentally MN too knows the meaning SBH's of her name.  (Show's they are destined for each other). Fortunately he didn't tell SH the meaning so that might be a way to test which sister truly is the daughter of the king when the truth comes to light.  I'm making an assumption here, that SN and MN will marry thus she becomes Queen, when MN takes the throne. I actually think SN is in a better position as Queen to punish her sister for her deception (if there is a kingdom left in  Baekjae), as she may not be able to kill her sister, but she could have her exiled.

The link was fairly decent today so a ‘timely’ recap is being given.  The subs are also out for Friday’s episodes therefore you should be able to watch it on your favorite Asian drama sites.

Thanks for the videos and links everyone, here it is I was just about to post this recap and got the preview.  It helps.

Episode 34

  Starts with SN not doing well in her archery practice, she cuts her finger, MN fusses over her and wraps the wound with his handkerchief (wonder how much white handkerchiefs he has?).  She looks up at him stares a bit, he offers an incentive should she succeed/improve being at BM and leaves but not before giving her a tip as to how to improve her shooting.  She hits the bulls-eye after that and looks back to see him gone.

SH/ “SBH” is having a dream, someone is trying to wake her up she touches his hand and says “daddy” she looks up & realizes that the hand she touched was KC.  She wakes up from her dream.  It’s a regular day, SH/ “SBH”  greets the councilors wives who went into a room and overhears them bad mouthing her/being disrespectful again the personal maid is angry on her behalf suggests that SH/ “SBH” reports them to the king.  SH/ “SBH”  says no, she will deal with it herself, she gets the queen to invite the wives to a sewing/embroidery event.  She did her embroidery very well and show the wives who had to imitate the piece. While they were sewing she observes their progress.  One of the wives said something rude again about SH/ “SBH” her response was a smile with a sharp slap across the woman’s face and some strong words.  After that every wife knew who ran things.  The women left afterwards their behavior somewhat more subdued than before and fearful respectful to both the queen and SH/ “SBH”, the queen looked at SH/ “SBH” in new eyes.  (I am not sure if one could call her actions evil as the women did need to be taught a lesson in terms of respect for the royal family it is the approach that brings to question.  As the queen when you think about it is humored/tolerated and not actually respected by the wives.  Its just that they cannot afford for words to get back to the king/GM about her. On the other hand SH/ “SBH” is a different case all together, she demanded respect because these women were continuously disrespectful despite the king's warning and it had to stop.)

SH/ “SBH” later arrives at her room to see JM in there with the flowers in the vase, he acts embarrassed to be caught by her and leaves (part of his plan), SH/ “SBH” is touched and thinks that JM is into her.  GM and wife are talking she is sick (it’s likely she will die soon, she was visited earlier by the queen’s personal maid who told her of palace happenings), it’s obvious that he cares for her.  GM is still thinking about SN as the ‘true princess’ but he does not say anything.

During this time SN is now making strides in overall improvement, physically – martial arts, exercising, archery; intelligence – knowing how the enemy’s country citizens speak and their mannerisms etc.; she has become more focused.  TLD & MGG are doing okay, TLD visited SL and they had their couple time, MGG of course is upset (PDs, for the sake of this BFF friendship, get MGG a girl soon). There is a narration with SN doing night training and her words to SH at the restaurant to protect her, SH says to herself that SN better not return. 

It’s a new day and SN is on the training field shooting arrows at targets placed at strategic places, she does not miss; TLD & MGG sees how well she is doing and says something.  MN, KBK and training chief are observing her progress MN says what his next plans are. 

The show concludes with SH/ “SBH” is picking flowers, she sees the king and greets him with them, the king is happy, a eunuch comes to the king’s aide whispers something to him, the aide relays this urgent information to the king who is no longer smiling.  Preview shows mission time for Baekjae & Koguryo war and the other female spy told to MN by the king.
