'Love Reset' Stays Top with No Strong Box-Office Contender

 

"Love Reset" starring Jung So-min and Kang Ha-neul has attracted more than 1.6 million viewers since its release early this month.

 

Despite the overall slump in the Korean box office, the romantic comedy has steadily drawn moviegoers, passing its break-even point on Monday.

 

According to the Korean Film Council, the romantic comedy has topped the box office for about three weeks.

 

It deals with the story of a couple who completely lose their memories after a car accident, about a month before their impending divorce.

Rom-com 'Love Reset' stays atop local box office for 3rd straight week

 

 

The Korean romantic comedy "Love Reset" has remained atop the local lox office for three weeks in a row since its opening, data showed Monday.

The movie also attracted around 246,000 moviegoers from Friday to Sunday, accounting for 40.3 percent of total ticket sales, according to data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC).

Earlier Monday, the film, which hit local theaters on Oct. 3, passed its break-even point, after its cumulative number of attendees surpassed 1.6 million.

Directed by Nam Dae-jung and starring Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min, the film tells the story of a married couple, both suffering from memory loss in the wake of a car accident, 30 days before their planned divorce.

The runner-up at the weekend box office was "Killers of the Flower Moon" by Martin Scorsese. The film drew around 56,000 moviegoers, or 8.9 percent of the weekend box-office tally.

"The Exorcist: Believer" and the Korean noir thriller "Hwaran" came in third and fourth, respectively.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, the Japanese animation "The Boy and the Heron" by Hayao Miyazaki led advance ticket sales. The film is set to open Wednesday. (Yonhap)

“Love Reset” (also known as “30 Days”) is getting a Chinese remake!

 

Ever since its release on October 3, the new romantic comedy film starring Kang Ha Neul and Jung So Min has dominated the Korean box office, where it has enjoyed an uninterrupted 20-day streak at No. 1.

it now seems that “Love Reset” is a hit outside Korea as well: in addition to being released in theaters in multiple countries including the United States, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, the movie has been confirmed for a Chinese remake.

 

However, not only will “Love Reset” be remade into a Chinese film, but it is also currently in talks to be remade in numerous other countries. Barunson E&A’s overseas business team shared, “We keep getting new requests for remake rights from various regions such as Southeast Asia, France, and the United States, and we expect that there is a high potential for additional remakes aside from the [confirmed] Chinese remake.”
