Actresses Nam Ji-hyun and Kim Go-eun will reportedly be leading tvN’s upcoming 2022 series Little Women.

 

On September 24, South Korean news outlets Sports Chosun and JTBC, respectively, reported that Nam and Kim have been casted in Little Women. According to the reports, the series will tell the story of the sisterhood between three siblings.

 

Kim is said to be playing the eldest sister and Nam will be playing the middle sister, while casting for the youngest sister and final lead role of Little Women has yet to be finalised, according to the reports.

 

Kim is currently starring in tvN’s romantic comedy Yumi’s Cells, while Nam recently appeared in the TVING original series The Witch’s Diner.

 

Little Women will be helmed by director Kim Hee-won, whose previous work includes this year’s blockbuster revenge-thriller Vincenzo, as well as popular K-dramas such as The Crowned Clown (2019) and Money Flower (2017).

 

Joining her will be screenwriter Jeong Seo-kyung, who previously wrote for the heartfelt drama series Mother (2018). Jeong is also well-known for her work in iconic South Korean thriller films The Handmaiden (2016) and Thirst (2009). The series will be produced by Studio Dragon, and is set to air on tvN in the first half of 2022.

“Yumi’s Cells” has released a making-of video for Episodes 3 and 4!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Yumi’s Cells” is a new drama about an ordinary office worker named Yumi—told from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. Kim Go Eun plays the titular role of Yumi, an ordinary woman who struggles with expressing her feelings, while Ahn Bo Hyun stars as the straightforwardly honest game developer Goo Woong.

The behind-the-scenes clip starts with Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun cracking up over random things and watching the animated version of Yumi’s cells for the very first time.

When filming at night, a staff member explains that the frog noises in the background of their set are real, but Ahn Bo Hyun refuses to believe her. He finally gives in and comments, “[Kim Go Eun] doesn’t know yet. She thinks it’s fake.”

The staff members claim that she knows, so Ahn Bo Hyun sets off to prove them wrong. He tells her the truth and Kim Go Eun angrily responds, “Of course they’re fake! Are you a fool?” He excitedly shows off that she doesn’t know, and Kim Go Eun adds with a laugh, “Is filming a joke to you?”

Meanwhile, making her first appearance in a behind-the-scenes video for the drama is Park Ji Hyun, who plays Goo Woong’s longtime girl best friend Seo Se Yi. She introduces her character by saying, “Within her tricky friendship [with Goo Woong], she’s someone who brings about Yumi’s jealousy.”

She adds, “I have a lot of friends who are fans [of the webtoon] and they always speak so poorly of Se Yi, so I’m a bit worried.” Park Ji Hyun then comments, “The script is so fun and my fellow actors are really fun, so I’m looking forward to the future, and I’d be thankful if you all looked forward to it as well.”

Later, Ahn Bo Hyun is seen transformed after his beard is shaved off. He reveals, “I wanted to shave it, and I never wanted to take off my mask [when I had the beard].”

While rehearsing, Kim Go Eun jokingly gets angry at the director and Ahn Bo Hyun quickly comments, “They’re filming the making-of video.” She adorably acts surprised and cutely comments, “Please edit this out!” The director jokingly adds, “Just hit me once,” as Kim Go Eun shares with Ahn Bo Hyun, “Once, I hit him lightly like this, and he completely fell over.” Everyone pretends to take the director’s side, so Kim Go Eun gives in and shyly asks him, “Director, aren’t you hot? The sun… you should go inside.”

During a final outfit check, the pair dive into rehearsals for their kiss scene. Ahn Bo Hyun shyly asks, “It’s not… passionate?” and both the director and Kim Go Eun immediately shake their heads. Although Kim Go Eun earnestly states that they both shouldn’t laugh, Ahn Bo Hyun continues to crack jokes as he pretends to snap her neck while holding her face.

They start to film, but Kim Go Eun can’t stop laughing as she pokes fun at Ahn Bo Hyun’s awkward movements. Finally, the two perfect the timing and the angle to create a beautiful kiss scene.

tvN’s “Yumi’s Cells” revealed not one, but two behind-the-scenes videos for episodes 5 and 6!

 

Spoilers

The first video starts with Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun sitting at a fancy restaurant to film the scene where Goo Woong (Ahn Bo Hyun) gives Yumi (Kim Go Eun) a touching gift. Kim Go Eun tells the director that she wants to eat, and they order a steak for her to eat during the scene.

Later, they are filming the scene between Yumi and Sae Yi (Park Ji Hyun), and Kim Go Eun is told to smile without her eyes. The staff members can’t stop laughing as Kim Go Eun opens her eyes wide with only her lips turned up in a smile. When she finally gets to monitor the scene, Kim Go Eun bursts into laughter and hides the screen, saying she won’t let anyone see it.

In another scene, Goo Woong and Yumi are celebrating Yumi’s birthday at her house when Goo Woong urgently needs to use the bathroom. After his passionate acting, Ahn Bo Hyun comments, “I have nothing to say. I’ve given up. I can do this much for the drama. Everyone’s raising their thumbs up at me, but I’m not sure what that means.
