@hazelzerone - Thank you for remembering me and lots of hugs, honey   >:D< >:D< >:D<
Hi everybody! :-h :-h
Woww.. it's has really been about a year since EoG ended  :-O ... after the last episode, i sort of lost all interest in EoG - and was practically looking for other dramas the next minute, to wipe off the aftertaste ~ it's so bitter and unsettling :)) :))
Anyways, i read that Mr. Romantically Challenged Scriptwriter is going to pen another drama ("Punch"?)  and it's reportedly will star one of my fave actor - Kim Rae Won. He's such a talented actor - I love him best in My Love Pattzi. Hasn't watched any Kim Rae Won drama/movie the last couple of years so after reading about "Punch", i was practically cringing at the prospect of watching him in that (potentially dry, joyless & melo) drama. I went; "What is with this scriptwriter? Is he sadistic or what? Why does he keep penning this joyless kind of drama? And what if he'd make me lose interest in KRW the way i did GS? (because it went so bad that I don't even want to see, hear or read about GS these days).  Because I hasn't gotten over my bitterness at EoG, I probably will skip Punch as well. Frankly, i was surprised that I hasn't gotten over what I considered PKS's "badly-penned" script for EoG.  Well, one can only have so much after all. He might had it rolling with 'The Chaser' but too much chasing made his EoG script went slipping off his hand and scattered all over the floor. :)) :))
I think I should apologize to PKS though.  He probably can't help it since some people were born with an innate artistic leaning that pulls them toward the mellow, dry, joyless and laughless.  Mr. Scriptwriter, please accept my sincere apology for bashing you all these while. I know you probably can't help your inner artist but I hope you will one day produce a much more light hearted drama. For the good of everyone, including you.  It won't do living in too much a stressed life, will it? Lol!
I don't know if I'd ever came by this thread again but while I'm at this I'd like to thank everybody who had given the comments, clicks and the time to read on my posts.  This was my first time ever joining any thread online and it was unfortunate that EoG broke my heart, but the discussions were very awesome, entertaining and enlightening - yes, it was fun all the way :x :x :x  Thank you everybody! >:D< >:D< :x :x

See ya around!!  ;);) >:D< >:D< :x :x

For me, I enjoyed both writer-nim's EOG and The Chaser..  The good thing with writer-nim is he doesn't make his drama too long that's why it doesn't drag so much.

Kim Rae Won, mmmm... he became popular at Lee Yowon's thread last year? because of what he said.. Now, I am curious about him. I wan to see his beauty and acting.. :)  Mmmm.. Punch, huh  :-?

Empire of Gold

is my least favorite of Park Kyung Soo`dramas but still, it was an enjoyable watch. I can`t wait to watch his next project. Watching all three dramas, I found common elements, it has the same style. IMO, his latest work has the best of both worlds.

I am late in joining this thread. Having completed a weekend marathon of this drama, I am thankful I hadn't wasted my time. One of those intellectual piece with very well-written lines but I don't think it will appeal to viewers under 25 or over 50. I thought I was watching a Saguek when I tuned in to Empire of Gold. I loved Sagueks. At the halfway mark, I started to doze off. When I woke up, characters have switched camps.......yawn.....i dun wan to find out why.

But it's kind of longwinded for 24 episodes. The characters don't age and if certain real events hadn't been mentioned, it really didn't seem like a 20-year saga.

The drama has a heavyweight of quality actors and actresses but I thought some were miscast although the character development was consistent. I had to remind myself Son Hyun-joo plays a wicked character. MJ was written as such. However, he wasn't convincing as a cunning and conniving creature. He has the look of a victimised Ahjussi. I had to remind myself Lee Yo-won's character is already a middle-aged dragon lady. But she still looks very much a lass from Ep1 to 24. Was her dressing and make-up to be blamed?

The best cast? Kim Mi-sook as Han Jung-heeAlluring eyes that hid a knife. She looks wicked and beautiful at the same time.....like Jang Hee-bin or any other queen dowager.

Reiterating what some reviewers have mentioned: Looking for soapy romance? SKIP THIS DRAMA. ALL the marriages in this drama are  business alliances between enigmas.  Tune in to this drama if you are sick of women screaming, yelling, hair-pulling, long sobbing because trading of insults in this drama are carried out in an unbelievably dignified manner.

I lovr Go Soo. But it's very heavy drama to watch. I can't stand it. Jump to ending after watched 16 episodes. Our OTP i think not SY and TJ? But until end TJ lloves his sunbae SH?

It's not common storyline of korean drama. There weren't lovey dovey between our main cast who are share the room for years? Oh no. May be i had to remembered how TJ loved and took care his sunbae and his friend/subordinates. While sung jin  handle people with money and law...TJ handle his people with caring and protect them.
