SNSD Sooyoung, Lee Chun Hee, and More Participate in ‘Cyrano Agency’ Script Reading

Based off the original plot of the movie, tvN’s upcoming drama, Cyrano Agency kicked off with its first script reading.



On April 11, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, Lee Jong Hyuk, Hong Jong Hyun, Lee Chun Hee, Jo Yoon Woo, and more gathered together at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong to participate in the first script reading. 

Although surrounded by handsome actors, all towering over 180 centimeters, Sooyoung especially shined with her beauty during the session. The first script reading ended in a positive atmosphere. 




“The anticipation is great because each actor is known for their unique acting,” said Kang Hee Jun PD, in charge of the drama. “Although it was only our first script reading, the chemistry between the actors matched will and my affirmation for the drama became stronger. I believe we’ll be able to show a good project to the viewers.”

The drama will broadcast sometime in May.

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, Lee Jong Hyuk, Lee Chun Hee, Hong Jong Hyun,and the rest of the cast and staff gathered together on April 11 for their first script reading for the upcoming tvN drama, “Dating Agency: Cyrano.”

In the photos released by tvN, the cast look serious and focused on the script. Sooyoung particularly stands out among the photos, looking natural and comfortable in the setting.

According to the drama representatives, everyone in the cast completed the first script reading with ease, as if their roles were their second skin.  The director, Kang Hee Jun stated, “The harmony and chemistry among the cast was great even though this was only the first script reading.”

The drama will be about the lives and events of the people involved in the dating agency called “Cyrano,” which was originally a theater troupe that evolved to help awkward clients win over their loved ones through elaborate set-ups. Lee Jong Hyuk will play the leader of the Cyrano dating agency, Seo Byung Hoon, while Sooyoung will take on the role of Gong Min Young, an acts-before-thinking romantic working at the dating agency. Lee Chun Hee plays a mysterious chef of the restaurant next door to the agency who gets caught in the middle of Lee Jong Hyuk and Sooyoung’s relationship. His character is said to be serious, which will be an image turn for the actor who is more well-known for his funny variety character. Hong Jong Hyun will play the role Moo Jin, the genius engineer part of the dating agency.

“Dating Agency: Cyrano” will premiere on tvN at the end of May.

tvN released photos from their script reading session with Lee Jong Hyuk, Sooyoung, Lee Chun Hee,Hong Jong Hyun, and more.

It’s been a while since Sooyoung was last featured in a drama as her last role was in ‘Third Hospital‘ but Sooyoung looked just as gorgeous as always.

The drama will span 16 episodes and tells the story of a dating agency that manipulates love. The agency helps those who are awkward or new at dating.

The latest installment in the flower boy drama series is shaping up nicely. This week, Girls Generation Soo Young, Lee Jong Hyuk, Lee Chun Hee, Hong Jong Hyun and the rest of the cast for the new drama, tvN's Dating Agency: Cyrano, met for their first script reading.

Production director Kang Hee Jun said that given the cast's strong acting skills he expects them to deliver quality work.

 "The harmony and chemistry among the cast was great even though it was only a first script reading," said Kang.

The series is based on the hit film, "Cyrano Dating Agency," which was originally a webtoon. It's a story about an agency that helps people who are not that skilled at love. They create elaborate scenarios designed to help their clients win over the object of their affection. Since the agency guarantees success in getting people to fall in love, there are bound to be some laughable complications.

Lee Jong Hyuk will play Seo Byung Hoon, the ill-tempered head of the dating agency. Before trying his hand at matchmaking he was a theatrical director. The actor recently played Lee Jong Ruk in "A Gentleman's Dignity."

Girls Generation Soo Young will play Gong Min Young, an impulsive romantic who works at the agency. Her most recent acting role was Lee Eui Jin in "The Third Hospital."

Lee Chun Lee has signed on to play a chef who gets entangled in their relationship. Lee is an actor who is known for playing funny roles but in this comedy, his character is a serious one. He appeared in "The Thousandth Man" and "You're Amusing."

Hong Jong Hyun has signed on for the role of Moo Jin, the brains behind the dating agency. His last role was Seo Chan Hwi in "Jeon Woo Chi."

The film that the drama is based on became a sleeper hit in 2010, attracting more than 2.7 million viewers. It got positive reviews for its intelligent direction and well developed characters. The director won best screenplay at the 2010 Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Kang Kyun Hoon will direct the 16-episode romantic comedy. He is known for his romantic film, "Happy Ending or Die." The drama script was written by Shin Jae Won, who worked on "Tamra: The Island."

So far, the flower boy drama series has had a succession of winners with "Flower By Ramen Shop," "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" and "Flower Boy Next Door." Hopefully, the new matchmaking drama, "Dating Agency: Cyrano" will be a good match.

off topic ,, talking about SNSD almost over Japan tour .. so no possible repackaged IGAB album and promotion in Korea again ?? It is strange they did not ,  I know it was cuz Japan activities ,, but wish to see them again ,, although it would be tiring to Sooyoung ! and to think about it Shinee is doing the repackaged album promotion soon & SM usually would not promote 2 groups at same time !

The good about this drama .. I am almost certain SNSD will sing an OST ( at least one ) for this drama to support SY .  >< I do not think Tiffany or Taeyeon cuz they released OSTs recently .. Jessica ? Seobaby ? Sunny ?
I wish if someone else will do also ,, specially if Changmin it has been a long time since he did

I think they will come back with a repackage album  but perhaps in the second half of the year, maybe September? October?  I hope they could form another subunit debut this summer before another comeback in Autumn. I really hope so

For example , a dance sub-unit with R&B mix with hiphop style YoonYulSooHyo or a ballad/jazz duo SunSica ) It's going to be tiring but they said in the interview that they didn't satisfy with the lack of promotions in Korea last year and wish to promote more in Korea this year. "finger crossed"

thanks for these information about possible plans of SNSD coming activities ,, we are approaching May already and still many things to anticipate from SME regarding the comeback of all the remaining artists,, for time being Shinee will do soon & F(x) most likely next on the list .. and so I am wondering if they could manage to promote SNSD more in Korea this year , it not like I do not follow their activities in Japan as well but still it is more easy to see them in the K shows , it is the same for me in following my SuJu easier in Korea than in China.. Anyway I will wait with high expectation and be ambitious to see them & SuJu by the second half of 2013[/spoiler]

@wangnyeo Hi there again. Just dropping by and saw those pics you posted earlier. Yes, the woman in the pics is his wife. She is also an actress and they just got married when she was pregnant. They met when they were filming Smile, You. Nice and heart warming drama and both CH and wife were really adorable.
