@atomickitty
Will keep names of films you and baduy had given in mind...I started doing just that few months ago with the dramas, the less info the more i search hahaha (i am officially my own spoiler my friends sometimes say :-P), except for comedies...Funny enough i didn't check about Oldboy and friends being anti film spoiler lol i did not check Oldboy until i started watching and realising what the revenge was all about i checked wiki little too late :-&not doing that again lol

@baduy & @Triton823Great insight indeed baduy, although didn't watch it, just by reading baduy's recap i  could see her expressions and she said the right words to to both Nam Joo and Seon Yeong and i would have said the same...
:(( Jennifer is really going into the ticking bomb mode and i don't really blame her... i would have gone with the same resolution as there is really no one but her son or her newly discovered blood tie to stop her from going Berserk... >:)

Just saw Jang Shin-Young (Jennifer/SeMi) in Davichi's MV, 'Just the Two of Us.'

Her face says more than the lyrics. Now to catch up and read 5 previous pages~yuki

Nam joon and seon young have to pay for what they've done. Interestingly enough they know its coming but not sure just how bad its going to be. I want se min to go dark side their a$$ and send them straight over the moon simply to teach them the lesson "Never tough a momma grizzles cub".
Not sure though but im more excited about nj and sy getting their punishment over the real bad guys....does that make me horrible ? :P

@yukiyoshinori Loved the clip and song thanks!!
@Triton823
You are not horrible, they all should pay for their wrong doings... i do hate when they somehow feel like the kid is theirs ( i can understand grandma and her daughter as they did not know he was not theirs to start with but still  the shame should be enough for them to not even consider the kid to stay beside them). He does need to stay there for the time being because  is very likely he will be in danger very soon and this could be where some of the ones that love him and Jennifer will step in to help her and unmask the Evil family + Seo Yeon  ...

One bit of info and two warnings.

Info first
mvibo now have eps 24 and 25 subbed.

BUT warning  #1 is that mvibo have now belatedly discovered rotating banners, without alas also being aware that they are a prime vector for virus infections, and so their server is merrily attempting to infect everyone who brings up their home page with a trojan. I strongly advise you not to go there unless you have up-to-date real-time anti-virus protection enabled in your browser (I find that avira is the best one for catching the particular nasty item involved in this case) or until mvibo fix the problem (I have attempted to email them, but hey, they're Koreans, even though they're English-speaking ones, so they don't take much notice). Maybe they'll react when Google starts flagging them as a dangerous site.

The second warning is that the soompi gods have messed up big time with their latest super-duper upgrade to the main soompi site (not a place I ever visit myself since in became so heavily commercialized) and what was meant to be a brief outage for a server upgrade has turned into a much longer downtime for that site. This matters to anyone reading this, because when the main soompi server is down, you can't log in to these forums. You can read them OK, but you can't post unless you still have an authentication cookie in your browser from an earlier session. So if you want to post before the main soompi server starts working properly again, DON'T LOG OUT FROM THIS FORUM and don't clear out your cookies.
EDIT: the main soompi site is now up again, so it's safe to log out of this forum without worrying that you won't be able to log back in. But the mvibo virus dispenser is still as active as ever....

Oh gosh!! I deliberately didn't say anything about the very last part of yesterday's video teaser for today's episode, because I suspected it was tricksy, and that the 99% certainty that the truncated voiceover spoke of as Jennifer is leaving the genetic testing department would be about her verifying that, despite his claims, Je Joon wasn't Ye Jin's father.

But NO. Today's episode, at the cliffhanger, lets us hear more of what was said, and it looks like she's been checking for a match between her DNA and the President's. And it looks like the truth is out. Though we have to wait till tomorrow to be sure (and that it wasn't yet another fantasy scene like the one they sprung on us earlier in today's episode).

Today's episode (78) was yet another where a lot of the important stuff can't really be gleaned from the visuals alone.

Evil Mom is taken by surprise when Jennifer comes in unnoticed while she is pillow-bashing her husband and accusing him of ruining her life, by, among other things, exposing her to Seo Won's threats. Jennifer picks up on this and asks in mock puzzlement why would Seo Won want to threaten her, and what with?

Evil Mom sticks to answering the first question only, telling her that Seo Won is intent on forcing his way into the family by making Ji Min divorce her husband and marry him. Jennifer, however, says she knows all about that already, because Hyeok Min told her all about it (they have no secrets from each other, she says with an intentionally provoking smug little grin at his mother) and she can't see why Seo Won's ambitions should worry anyone, seeing how the President, when he comes round, would never consent to any such thing and that Je Joon is entirely devoted to his wife and Ji Min is determined to stay married to him. So all they need to is tell Hyeok Min what Seo Won said and he'll put a stop to it. But Evil Mom hastily says Jennifer must do no such thing, because a confrontation with Seo Win would endanger Hyeok Min. Jennifer, pretending to be even more puzzled, asks her why, but Evil Mom, realizing she's said too much, rows back and simply says there's a good reason, and escapes any further probing when she spots to her alarm that her husband has sat himself up in bed and is listening to their conversation.

He struggles to speak, managing to force out a "Honey", then, pointing at Jennifer, to add "that's my daughter". Jennifer hastens to butt in before Evil Mom can respond, explaining that the President keeps on thinking she's Ji Min, and his wife takes that false trail, scoffing that her husband may have recovered enough to sit up in bed, but his brain's so addled he can't tell his daughter-in-law from his daughter and she leaves the room in disgust. Jennifer, left alone with him again, rounds on him contemptuously, telling him to stop pointing that hand of his, which has injured so many men and molested so many women, at her and demanding to know why he keeps on repeating this nonsense about her being his daughter. He responds that she is Jeon Se Mi, and she says, sure, there's no doubt about that, but he'd better think twice about letting anyone else know it, but he just expands that into "You are Jeon Se Mi, my natural daughter."  She furiously demands to know why he keeps saying such a preposterous thing, which defiles her mother's name, and says that if he says it one more time, even only in her hearing, she will make absolutely sure he gets locked away in an asylum. At this point, Ji Min is heard announcing her arrival home. That's your real daughter! Jennifer chides him ferociously.

JI Min is alarmed to hear that her mother has left her father alone with Jennifer, and takes her into her father's study [supposedly safe from being overheard -- HA!] to try to convince her that Jennifer was trying to suffocate her father, adding that she's asked ex-detective Seo to set up a spy camera to record what happens in her father's sickroom. Her mother pooh-poohs that idea, but is more receptive to Min Ji's information about tailing Je Joon and finding him engaged in some sort of argument with Seon Yeong. However, her mother takes that as a handle to ask Ji Min about the state of her marriage, obviously hoping to hear that she would be prepared to get her mother off the hook by agreeing to divorce Je Joon and marry Seo Won. But she gets to hear quite the reverse, with Ji Min adamantly stating she's no intention whatsoever of divorcing her husband for any reason at all, least of all to marry Seo Won, whom she now despises, especially since he's been transparently trying to poison her mind against Je Joon. She's thought about Seo Won's claim that Je Joon might be pretending not to know that he's Ye Jin's father as part of a fiendish revenge plot, but on reflection she can see that Je Joon just isn't the kind of man who'd stoop to that, and his stance over Ye Jin is evidence of what a good man and devoted husband and father he is. [And, would you believe it, Jennifer is listening just outside the door, and takes that point right on the chin].

Soo Ji's unannounced arrival at the mansion puts an end to Jennifer's eavesdropping session. She replies to Jennifer's query as to what brings her to the house by explaining that she's quit her post at Taekang, so she has to come here to see Hyeok Min, and adds snidely that she hopes Jennifer has no objections to that. Jennifer beams back that she's no objections at all, seeing as they're in need of a full-time housekeeper, a thrust which Soo Ji parries by saying that unfortunately at her stage of pregnancy she can't take on any heavy housework. At that Jennifer drops the bantering tone and tells her coldly that she'd be obliged if Soo Ji would finally stop harping on about being pregnant, since it cuts no ice with her. Soo Ji, unabashed, asks how Jennifer's own pregnancy is progressing, remarking that she's just had an extensive ante-natal examination herself with a favorable outcome, but Jennifer smilingly says she regards that sort of thing as confidential. Soo Ji hints that there's a thin dividing line between having a private sphere and having something to hide, but Jennifer refuses to be drawn on that and walks away.

Ji Min comes along and takes Soo Ji up to her room for another confidential pow-wow. She's obviously immediately told her about Jennifer supposedly trying to kill her father, because we join them again as  Soo Ji. much to Ji Min's annoyance, is saying that accusation makes no sense. Standing her ground, Ji Min phones ex-detective Seo to ask whether he's ignoring her instructions to bug her father's sickroom. He stalls a little, saying he'd need to clear that with her mother first, but she tells him to do just that without further delay.

Soo Ji is now in the sickroom, asking the President whether he recognizes her and seeing him nod to affirm that he does. She assures him that from now on she'll be caring for him every day until he's fully recovered. She says she's sure he is still on her side and will support her plans to marry Hyeok Min, and for that reason she needs to know whether there's any truth in what Ji Min just told her about Jennifer trying to suffocate him. But at this, the President goes into staring log mode again. Until, that is, Soo Ji goes on to say that she has serious suspicions about Jennifer's supposed US background, and will soon have some hard information that will cast doubt on who she really is and what her true motives for marrying Hyeok Min are. That provokes the President to an ambiguous finger-wag, which she appears not to notice.

Over at Jinkung, Soo Ji's mother is on the phone to someone who's obviously called in the hope of speaking to Soo Jin, explaining that her daughter isn't there right now, but she'll tell him he called. Nam Joon comes in while she's still speaking and asks is there a problem, only to learn that it the caller was just an investigator who's an old friend of the family whom Soo Ji has apparently asked to look into something or other as a personal favor. Nam Joon of course knows what that 'something or other' must be.

As Nam Joon is pondering what he's just heard, he gets a call from Nam Hee, asking can they meet up for an important matter she doesn't want to raise at home or on the phone. At a cafe, he finds Nam Hee and Seong Min waiting for him, and Seong Min wastes no time in telling him that he intends to take Nam Hee for a formal visit to his family to introduce her to them as his potential bride and asking Nam Joon's approval for this move on behalf of Nam Hee's family. [Although granny is the elder of that family whose word must be respected, now that Nam Joon and Nam Hee's father and paternal grandfather are both dead it is Nam Joon as the eldest son who has the decisive say in such matters and whose permission has to be gained, and it's in that capacity that he's being consulted]. He wastes no time in saying that he is adamantly opposed to any such idea, for reasons both youngsters know and which aren't going to change.

Seong Min protests that the issues Nam Joon refers to are matters that bear only on the older family members, but Nam Joon reminds him that he and Nam Hee are now both adults too, and have to take the consequences of their respective family ties and animosities. Nam Hee is despondent, but Seong Min says that all the real problems are on his family's side, and he will see to it that they're resolved. Nam Joon urges him to forget any ideas about his sister ever joining his family, but Seong Min replies that he won't entertain anything that would part him from Nam Hee. He politely thanks Nam Joon for giving up his time to make his position clear, though he makes it plain the last word hasn't been spoken.

Je Joon has decided that things are now so complicated that he has to resort to pen and paper to work them out. [A pity Jennifer can't sub-let him a space in her vengeance HQ with all its decision-making and plotting aids.] To appreciate his puzzlement we need to realize that he believed Jennifer when she told him she drew a blank with Seon Yeong, but that he's more convinced than ever that Seong Yeong and Nam Joon hold the key to the child's fate and whereabouts, and he can't figure out why Seon Yeong is so determinedly lying to him and (as he thinks) to Jennifer too, since they know he knows the truth about Se Mi being Jennifer and that the child is his.

His musings are interrupted by ex-detective Seo, who has come to probe why he went to the bakery to see Seon Yeong. He falls back on a variant the pretext he used once before to explain his presence at that spot, when he said he was exploring locations for a movie by saying it was part of his work planning the proposed Taekang TV commercials.

We cut from Seo looking distinctly unconvinced and Je Joon looking extremely shifty to Seon Yeong looking even more uncomfortable as she explains to her mother and sister-in-law the full story of how she came to claim Eun Seok as her own child, and how what was at first just an expedient measure partly  intended to spare Se Mi from acute danger and  unnecessary pain turned into a desire to hold on to the child she had come to love so dearly, especially after he was so much in need of special care after the injuries he suffered as a consequence of her pretense to be his biological mother. Granny again affirms that she can't imagine living if Eun Seok leaves them, and points out that since there is no doubt that Seon Yeong has legally adopted the boy, she has in law a superior claim to custody over Jennifer if she were to contest the case, but her daughter and daughter-in-law say there's no question of them doing that, whatever their legal position, and if Jennifer wants to take him they must let him go.

Jennifer, looking at the teddy bear Eun Soek brought for her as a present (on the day that Seon Yeong had resolved, on Nam Joon's urging, to stop Jennifer proceeding with her scheme to marry Hyeok Min by revealing the truth about Eun Seok, but then was prevented from doing so by the attempt on her life which left her and the child so badly injured) Jennifer reflects that she must take over Eun Seok's care and upbringing as soon as she possibly can, but before that she wants to hasten forward her plans to destroy the Kang family and their allies.

Jennifer comes upon Evil Mom sifting through her husband's financial records in his study, and she fantasizes about revealing her identity and provoking a showdown there and then. But she holds back and reverts to her usual guise when Evil Mom exercises every Korean mother-in-law's right to be informed of each and every one of her daughter-in-law's movements by asking if she's been out somewhere. Jennifer explains about visitng Eun Seok, Seon Yeong's son, information which astonishes Evil Mom, who demands to know why she's still associating with those people. Jennifer, unpeturbed, replies that she became attached to Eun Seok when she lived with that family and that after his disabling accident she is one of the few people he responds to with affection, regarding her as his sister. Added to which, she goes on meaningfully, the more she learns about the accident that so harmed Eun Seok, the more she's convinced that some really evil people were behind it, and she keeps in touch with his family partly to help track those evil people down and bring them to the justice they so amply deserve. She's sure her mother-in-law will have no objections to that. This throws Evil Mom for a moment, but then she reverts to tyrant mode, proclaiming that Nam Joon's family have been unmasked as enemies of Taekang and that she forbids Jennifer to have anything more to do with them. Jennifer walks out without even bothering to respond.

Hyeok Min is still trying to probe what his brother-in-law knows about his daughter's paternity and what his true attitude to Ji Min is. He asks him once again is it really true that he has hard evidence that he is indeed Ye Jin's father. Je Joon, growing angry, firmly reminds him that he's made it clear that topic is closed. He is certain that Ye Jin is his daughter and his marriage is sound and will remain so. Hyeok Min apologises for raising the matter and promises it won't come up again, and Je Joon is just leaving when Seo Won comes in and greets him with "Hi there, Mr Hypocrite". Je Joon, stupefied but his temper clearly rising again, asks him what he just said, only to hear Seo Won ask what else a "hypocritical bastard" like himself expects to be called, unless he'd prefer to be called an idiotic weakling for turning a blind eye to his wife sleeping with her manager then foisting someone else's kid on him, then covering up for her when the press got the wind of her affair with a leading prosecutor. Je Joon, though plainly inwardly seething, quietly reminds Seo Won that as a lawyer he ought to be aware of the consequences of making such slanderous statements. He'll let things pass this once, but he advises Seo Won to come to his senses or take the consequences, then leaves

Hyeok Min says nothing, but he's plainly rather pleased to see Je Joon standing up to Seo Won, even though Seo Won is completely unabashed, and suggests they go for a drink [need we ask where?] because there's something he wants to talk over.

The topic turns out to be a further stage in Seo Won's attempts to turn Hyeok Min against Je Joon. Seo Won says he's become convinced that the Kang family is being undermined by an "enemy within" and he's pretty sure who that is. For a moment we see that Hyeok Min is half expecting him to name Jennifer and is preparing an angry rebuff, but the name Seo Won comes out with is Je Joon. Once again, he reminds Hyoek Min that Se Mi was Je Joon's first love, that they know via Ji Min that he still thinks of her, and that Je Joon may well hold the Kang family responsible for Se Mi's fate. But Hyeok Min says that if Seo Won's theory is correct about Je Joon's marriage to Ji Min and his apparent heroic devotion to his supposed daughter and her mother being just a front to keep him on the inside of the family he hopes to damage from within, how come close on eight years have gone by without him making any sign of a hostile move?

Seo Won asks how can he be sure that's the case. He reminds Hyoek Min of those calls supposedly from Kim Baek Choon, made to his mother, Seo Won and Hyoek Min himself. And of the synchronized delivery to all the guilty parties of those old newspapers reporting Se Mi's 'accident' and the death of her mother? Who else is more likely to behind all that than Je Joon. Hyoek Min reminds him that the housekeeper admitted that the newspapers were supplied by Nam Joon (we should recall that for reasons of his own, President Kang never told his son, or anyone else, about the housekeeper's exposure of Jennifer). Now Hyeok Min recalls how, earlier in the day, ex-detective Seo had reported to him about Je Joon's visit to the bakery and his threadbare excuse for it. And he also recalls how it came to light that Je Joon has still been hanging on to his box of memories of Se Min. All the same he repeats that he isn't going to try to separate Ji Min from her husband on the basis of what Seo Won is claiming. Whereupon Seo Won warns him not to be surprised if he finds next morning that his mother has been indicted for incitement to murder, and makes to leave.

Clearly scared by this threat, Hyeok Min asks what's happened to their old friendship and urges him to sit back down, drink some more, and talk things over. But Seo Won says it's late and there's nothing more to talk about. The fact is, he points out, he doesn't need Hyeok Min or his family's backing any more, but they need him. Without him, Hyeok Min is finished. He leaves Hyeok Min blustering after him that if he goes down, he'll take Seo Won with him.

Some time later that same night, Hyeok Min, now very drunk, bursts into Jennifer's room and lies down on her bed, obviously indending to spend another night there. He explains to her indignantly that Seo Won keeps puishing this crazy idea of marrying Ji Min, and Jennifer, pretending to be equally surprised and outraged at the very idea, says his mother seemed to be feeling her way towards pointing Ji Min in that direction, too. Jennifer insists that since Je Joon so plainly loves his wife and daughter, it would be a crime to go along with any scheme to split up Ji Min from her husband, and Hyeok Min agrees before passing out.

He wakes the next morning, still in Jennifer's bed, but finds her sleeping in an armchair. He asks why she didn't join him in bed. She smiles knowingly and says it was to protect their baby. Her gyny had warned her about the dangers of excessively energetic sex during this stage of pregnancy, and Hyeok Min had been too drunk the previous evening to restrain himself if she'd given him any encouragement. Hyeok Min takes this, just as Jennifer intends him to, as a compliment to the vigor of his performance on that previous occasion, even though he can't actually remember anything about it.

Giving the President his morning ablutions, Jennifer is telling him how having to touch him fills her with revulsion, and how she constantly has to check her urge to kill him with her bare hands there and then. But once more he says that she is Se Mi, his daughter. Incredulously she asks is he going to persist in saying that? Does he not take her threats seriously, because he really ought to...

But then, in a surprise cut, we are at a hospital where Jennifer is coming out of that same genetic inspection suite where we saw Je Joon leaving with the voiceover telling him that Ye Jin was most certainly not his daughter. But this time the voiceover is saying that the two persons whose DNA had been examined were with absolute certainty half-siblings.

That's all we get to see in the actual episode before the sponsorship credits roll, but it's not quite the end of the matter. Although, as I've indicated in an earlier post today, the actual episode ending seems calculated to leave open at least a faint possibility that the DNA specimens referred to might have belonged to the Ye Jin and Eun Seok, thus apparently establishing that Je Joon spoke the truth when he said that he had proof that Ye Jin was his child and accounting for Jennifer's air of shock, if we look at the text accompanying the snippets jtbc puts on its official YT channel after every episode has aired, we see that it is much less enigmatic. In fact, it couldn't be plainer. The legend for the cliffhanger snippet reads:

Seo Hyeon (=Jennifer) learns that Hyeok Min is her half sibling!

After President Kang persists in telling her "you are my daughter", Seo Hyeon decides to establish the truth through genetic testing! She gets the result! It reveals that Hyeok Min and she are with 100% certainty half siblings!

[Exclamation marks of original. Except for the following ones, which are all mine !!!!!!]

Episode 79 text preview

President Kang manages to get unaided into his study where he examines his account books. Observing him doing this, his wife discovers a cellphone with the record of his calls to Jin Yang Hee.

Hyeok Min's mother offers to fund a movie for Je Joon by way of alimony if he agrees to divorce Ji Min, but he says that even if he is forced to separate from Ji Min he will still stand by his family.

Having decided to have Hyeok Min arrested, Seo Won hardens his heart and says he won't spare Jennifer either, since she has allied herself with Taekang.

Thanks baduy! LOL, the guy is really over confident
=))  loved it : "Her gyny had warned her about the dangers of excessively energetic sex during this stage of pregnancy, and Hyeok Min had been too drunk the previous evening to restrain himself if she'd given him any encouragement. Hyeok Min takes this, just as Jennifer intends him to, as a compliment to the vigor of his performance on that previous occasion, even though he can't actually remember anything about it." Couln't stop laughing as i keep thinking how can this be... only in dramas... and then the women get pregnant 2-3 days later lol! (they might mean 1-2 months but since it is not specific sounds like just a day later...

Hope is the later in a way because if it refers to Ye Ji and Eun Seok then we can slowly as we head to episode 90 catch up with the writers final ideas and please my previous idea of Je Joon and Ji Mi as half sister keeping the kids after her forgiveness and "death" could be a final scenario which i would honestly hate to think of, specially with Je Joon willing to stay with his so called "family" no matter what ?!@£$4$-_0(*(&(^(^& ... If it is Hyeok and Se Mi then is disgusting she had to kiss him either since he tried to rape her + now he turns out to be her actually half sibling. This might stop her from wanting to kill him and the forgiveness scene between her and the two Evil half siblings (begged to her in advance by Evil mum and her newly discovered father from jail) will be coming to us ... hahhhhh 12 more episodes and we shall have an idea i am guessing ...

Even when i understand granny's love for the boy she should be the one to reprehend the daughter, sorry what??? legal adoption??custody???legal rights????  they better do as her daughter and daughter in law suggested since it was ACTUALLY AN ILLEGAL ADOPTION (no consent was given and they told the child's mum that he, actually "she" was stillborn and separated them both from day 1 TO MAKE THEIR CURRENT POSITION EVEN WORSE AND SHAMEFUL!!! Unbelievable!!!  X(

What to do with all this mess writer? please find some acceptable resolutions  [-O<
Jennifer has already told Seon Yeong what she needed to hear and she is well aware of what she has done so there should be no kind of right or thoughts of LEGAL rights to her!!
Another forgiveness and happy scene? Je Joon taking both children to play with granny arm in arm with forgiven half sister now friendly with Nam Joon family due to half brother relation to Nam Hee??? (their final = engaged and blessed by both sides of the family with his real mum by his side)...
Oh i forgot Soo Ji also coming to granny's house possibly dating Nam joon in the end... All together and happy but not Jennifer which i still think might die after forgiving the lot mentioned above at Granny's house ...
Anyone else see any of this?? sure i got few things right lol!

Why do they have to be blood related somehow (secret birth/family scenario)?? in our Drama Land i learned it  means 98% or 99% a ending full of forgiveness and happiness (good + bad = new team of friends and celebration of happiness and some regrets).

I dont think jennifer/ nam joon is possible after they lied and stole the baby of jennifer....though i can see her getting back with je joon. I have a big feeling that he is plotting to bring down his wife but first he is looking for his kid. Right now too much misunderstanding between je joon and jennifer....but this is my opinion.

Do you know what is amazing about this thread?  That we have two males, i.e. Baduy and Triton823, contributing to the discussion!  =D>

This drama and thread is well-honored, if for no reason than this.  :))

@Baduy:  You're in fine form, with your editorial a(snides) strewn throughout your recap!

I was =), especially about the eavesdropping.  I conjured up the vision of them hearing everything because of the paper-thin walls of the set, which, as you had previously noted, shakes whenever someone closes a door.  :P

BTW, the daily drama, "Sincerity Move Heavens" has solved the problem of the walls shaking when a door is closed.  They've put in a swinging door to the bakery in the drama.  No more walls shaking or the cakes falling from the shaking.   :P

Believe it or not i used to just read forums and not participate. Ive always been interested in korean culture and some how ot hooked on kdrama.

I do love baduy's analysis because of the depth of pivotal scenes. It only adds to my curiosity of the korean culture and people.
