Ernie
What is the official rules for spamming on this forum? Does anyone know? Where can I find the official rules?
odaesan
I don't think that there is an actual guideline, but posting links that are unrelated to the topic is spamming. Posting short comments like "SO PRETTY" all the time is something that I consider spamming, but many members do it, so it generally is overlooked.Abuse is pretty much everything that is listed on the rules including special forum rules like no race threads, which again is overlooked. The rules are like the points on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and if you've seen the show, then you know what I mean. Ernie
Do you know the "official" rules for spamming? For example, do you know where I can find it on Soompi? I can't find it.
odaesan
There are no rules for spamming. The rules are for abuse and they are not enforced.
Eclectic
Here's the best that I could find:http://forums.soompi.com/discussion/1317/soompi-forum-rulesThe following seem to be the most related to spam:===================================================================================================4. NO ADVERTISEMENTS, SPAMMING, OR SOLICITATIONAdvertising of another website, product, and/or service, or solicitation of donations, whether by creating a new topic or sending PMs to members, is strictly prohibited. You may link your favorite website and/or personal website in your signature as long as the font size and color are kept to the default settings. If you wish to negotiate a paid advertisement contract/campaign with Soompi.com, please contact info@soompi.com.6. NO DUPLICATE ACCOUNTSCreating multiple accounts will result in automatic ban of the additional account(s) and potential ban of the main account.9. NO TOPIC SPAMMING IN MULTIPLE FORUMSIf you have a topic to post, keep it in one forum.10. DO NOT CIRCUMVENT MINIMUM POST LENGTH OF 20 CHARACTERSThis is to ensure that the content that does get posted is worth members' time to read.===================================================================================================All that stuff is from over 7 years ago though. Not sure if they still hold.
odaesan
Advertisements and solicitation both fall under spam, so I have no idea why it was written like that. All it says is "don't spam." I don't think that number 6 necessarily is about spam. 10 is defunct because there was nothing to prevent posts that were short even before the downgrade. I remember when people kept posting things like "That's cool. 20 characters/".
Ernie
@Odaesan or @Electric Asian what if the person forgot their account name or password. The person makes another name and is that considered multiple accounts? :-S
Eclectic
Should be okay; there's at least one active poster that blatantly admitted that he/she was using a new account because he/she simply forgot the username and password of the original account. Although I wonder why that's necessary because don't most forums have some kind of username/password retrieval? (you need to know the email you used to register at least)
Ernie
I'm sure people forget their emails from time to time or something happened to their email.
Guest Muso
I consider spamming when it doesn't relate to the topic, advertisment or if someone makes a giant post saying the same thing with extra smiley faces everywhere.

NPB-XK
I'm amazed that archive.org is finally faster... I usually had the time to go take a dump before I could get a result on a person's deleted blog that I was stalking back in the days.
Guest knockblock
Here is a thread going over the 20 character rule.http://forums.soompi.com/discussion/213833/20-character-rule-violation/p1The 20 character rule doesn't do the trick. There's a better way to do what it intends to do.
Guest knockblock
A lot of the threads you see getting locked would have been dealt with quickly or discouraged on other forums. This forum is allowing too much stuff that puts members off.We used to have the warning level thing back in the days of the power invision board. It discouraged what you're seeing on the forums now. The forum back then discouraged nonsense.
Guest deulseobs
I would consider spamming any unnecessary thread, post that either makes no sense, has already been made, only consists of a word or on emoticon or.. just doesn't need to be made. Or instigates conflict.
