willenette
[Herald Interview] Kim Woo-bin grew to appreciate ‘unseen’ heroes with ‘Officer Black Belt’ http://res.heraldm.com/phpwas/restmb_idxmake.php?idx=640&simg=/content/image/2024/09/20/20240920050440_0.jpg Kim Woo-bin (Netflix) Through Netflix action comedy “Officer Black Belt,” Kim Woo-bin said he became appreciative of the “unseen” heroes ensuring people’s safety every day. In this coming-of-age film, Kim plays Jung-do, a young man gradually exposed to the world of martial arts officers and probation officers. He accidently bumps into a probation officer chasing after a criminal wearing an ankle monitor on the run. Before shooting began, Kim said he had no idea what the job was about. But he felt a strong attraction after reading the scenario. “As it had been a while since I last starred in a comedy, reading an action comedy scenario felt new to me, but I could sense that the director wanted to let people know more about this very little-known job. I could genuinely feel his intention. So I decided to join his effort to create a fun project to help raise people’s awareness of martial arts officers,” Kim told reporters during an interview in Seoul on Thursday. http://res.heraldm.com/phpwas/restmb_idxmake.php?idx=640&simg=/content/image/2024/09/20/20240920050441_0.jpg Kim Woo-bin plays Jung-do in “Officer Black Belt” (Netflix) http://res.heraldm.com/phpwas/restmb_idxmake.php?idx=640&simg=/content/image/2024/09/20/20240920050442_0.jpg Kim Woo-bin (left) and Kim Sung-kyun star in “Officer Black Belt” (Netflix) The movie topped Netflix's weekly non-English movies chart almost immediately after its Sept. 13 release, proving that viewers not just in Korea but around the world enjoyed exploring the world of probation and martial arts officers. Kim expressed hopes that audiences would feel the same as he did after shooting the project. “There are so many ‘unseen’ heroes in our society who work day and night to protect people and make sure they feel safe in everyday life. I just hope the audience also appreciates these heroes after watching this movie,” Kim said. The movie has received favorable responses for mixing a weighty message with witty comedy and thrilling action sequences. Kim said he trained for the action sequences involving sports such as taekwondo, kendo and judo. “(In the movie,) Jung-do plays three different sports, so the action shows a lot of sports-inspired steps, and uses props like a mannequin leg in place of a stick in a kendo fight,” said Kim. To show action choreography that included delightful, rhythmic body movements, Kim said he worked with an action choreography director for more than three hours a day starting three months before shooting. “I almost felt like a professional sports trainee,” Kim said, laughing. “Officer Black Belt” is available on Netflix. credit : Korea Herald https://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20240920050449
willenette
*** In a recent interview with Korean media outlet News1, Kim Woo Bin promoted his new Netflix movie 'Officer Black Belt,' opening up about his character Lee Jung Do, a martial arts expert with 9th-degree black belts in Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo. During the interview, he confessed he did not know much about real-life martial arts officers before working on the project, commenting, "[Through the experience,] I discovered everyday heroes I was previously unaware of, realizing that they make our lives safer and happier. I wanted to share that feeling with viewers, and I’m glad this movie has brought more attention to the martial arts officers. I tried not to forget my gratitude toward them during filming, and I still strive to keep that in mind." Kim Woo Bin added that he found Lee Jung Do's personality easy to relate to, saying, "Jung Do lives joyfully every day, and I’m also focused on living each day fully and finding happiness within it. Although it wasn’t shown in the film, Jung Do's mother passed away from illness, and he was bullied as a child until his friends stood up for him. As an adult, he tries to protect those friends. I imagined his mother’s final wishes might have encouraged him to seek happiness, and I hoped to reflect that in his expressions. I’m happy now, and I’m trying to live each day well. One practice I’ve adopted recently is looking more often at the faces of the people I talk to. There were moments when I couldn’t even remember what my friends were wearing after spending hours with them. By focusing on the person in front of me, I feel like I’m living better, and that makes me happier. A few years ago, I was always living in the future – thinking, 'I'll be a better actor in ten years, so I have to work harder now,' or 'I need to do better in tomorrow's scene, so I'll stay up all night.' I kept pushing myself to be better in the future, often at the expense of the present. Now, looking back, I realize I missed out on enjoying the moments. When I was filming dramas, I would often stay up all night four or five times a week, and I was always on edge. If I had three hours to sleep, I'd sleep for one and spend two working out. I pushed myself to the limit. But over time, I've started to feel sorry for myself, and my thoughts and approach to life have shifted, especially after battling nasopharyngeal cancer." When asked if Shin Min Ah had seen the film yet, he confirmed that she had. "She really enjoyed it and liked learning about the role of martial arts officers," he revealed. "She appreciated knowing about their hard work." I do agree of what he said - I do the same way. I live in the moment, let go of the past and stop waiting for the future. I live my life consciously and be aware that each moment I breathe is a gift. I'm glad that he has figured it out.

willenette
Shin Mina Reveals Kim Woo Bin’s Reaction to Her Drama ‘No Gain No Love’ Shin Mina showed her enduring love for longtime boyfriend Kim Woo Bin as she reflected on her 9-year public relationship. During a wrap-up interview for the tvN drama No Gain No Love on October 2nd, Shin Mina discussed the feedback she’s received from friends and family. No Gain No Love centers around Son Hae Young (Shin Mina), a woman who marries because she refuses to take a loss, and Kim Ji Wook (Kim Young Dae), a man who becomes her husband because he doesn’t want to cause any loss. Shin Mina’s character, Hae Young, is known for being fiercely protective of her own interests, but warm and caring to those close to her, earning the love of viewers. The actress shared that her friends showed so much love for her character. “They loved the comedic moments in the beginning, which really boosted my energy throughout filming. My family also enjoyed it, and I received so many messages from friends telling me how funny the drama was.” Since publicly confirming her relationship with Kim Woo Bin in 2015, the couple has been going strong for nine years. In a recent interview for Netflix’s Officer Black Belt, Kim Woo Bin addressed their public romance, saying, “The fans’ support doesn’t burden me at all. In fact, I’m grateful for it. (She) is such a wonderful person, and I’ve gained a lot of positive influence from her.” When asked if Kim Woo Bin had shared any feedback on her latest drama, Shin smiled and said, “He told me he’s really enjoying it. We always cheer each other on in every project.” The drama No Gain No Love centers on a “fake marriage” that turns into real love. While the characters start with a marriage of convenience, Shin Mina reflected on the theme of “loss” in relationships, saying, “The drama uses the word’ loss,’ but it’s not meant in a negative way. When it comes to relationships, it’s more about understanding than taking a loss.” She added, “Hae Young went through her own journey of growth, especially in the final episode where she comes to understand and love her mother. I think when you have a lot of understanding in relationships, it doesn’t feel like a loss at all.” source : https://mksports.co.kr/view/2024/744869
