The December 29th broadcast of KBS2’s Entertainment Company Live shared the top 6 rankings of long-term star couples who are likely to get married in 2023, and on the fifth spot were Shin MinA and Kim Woo Bin.

Soo Young and Jung Kyung Ho topped the list. The two garnered lots of attention after officially confirming their relationship in 2014. All eyes are on whether their ten-year-long relationship will end in marriage.

The rest of the top 6 are Lee Jung Jae and Im Se Ryung, Seven and Lee Da Hae, Lee Kwang Soo and Lee Sun Bin, Shin Minah and Kim Woo Bin, and Lee Dong Hwi and Jung Ho Yeon.

Shin MinA and Kim Woo Bin have been together for about seven years. The two first met each other through filming a commercial in 2014 and officially confirmed their relationship the next year. *** I’ve watched again the drama, “Our Blues” since I wasn’t able to do so continuously during airing because of lack of time. This drama is good – it has its impressive star-studded cast, AND the gorgeous B/G of Jeju Island. It takes a lot of finesse to pull off a story that spans a large ensemble cast. Managing a large cast is tough. Each of the stories in “Our Blue” hits on themes of love, loss, youth, aging, and coping with depression. With different windows into interconnected lives, viewers will be able to see themselves reflected in one way or another. The finale is satisfying. After all the suffering, there is a sense that everything would be OK. After all, “The living must keep living,” as one of the characters says. As the title of the series directs, there is a lot of sadness in this series, but there is also hope. Our Blues” 100% lives up to the ‘blues’ part of its name! The different episodes are broken up into different two or three parts, following residents on Jeju Island as they go about their day. What’s particularly interesting here though is just how varied these stories are. Tackling topics like Down syndrome and teen pregnancy through to domestic violence and estranged mother/son relations, Our Blues tackles all of these difficult topics with sensitivity. This show has enough time to introduce everyone and tell their stories. One particular narrative that really stands out involves school students Jung Hyeon and Yeong-Ju. “Our Blues” uses this young couple to explore abortion and parenthood. But it isn’t just the young couple that “Our Blues” explores; it’s also their fathers. The final 3 episodes tackles Ok-Dong and Dong-Seok’s estranged relationship which has been an ongoing part of this since the opening chapter – and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful way to round things out. “Our Blues” is just as impressive and part of that comes down to the beauty of Jeju Island.

*** I am already excited for the pairing of KWB and Esom. 2023 has given way to some fantastic new K-dramas with competitive and genre-hopping storylines. What is also being looked out for are multiple fresh onscreen pairings to add to the spice. I've been waiting for his full fledged return.  He did make his K-drama return with ‘Our Blues’ but, it was nowhere near enough to quench the demand for him in a lead role. Good, he has his comeback project ‘Black Knight’ as a leading role. I have been waiting for this.   :heart2:

Soompi & Viki Staff Talk: What Is Your Favorite K-Drama Bromance?

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

Welcome back to a new edition of the “Soompi & Viki Staff Talk”! This time, some of our staff members discuss our favorite K-drama bromances.

Here are our staff’s faves!

Warning: minor spoilers ahead

Sala: Go Nam Soon & Park Heung Soo (“School 2013”)

school-2013.jpg

It’s impossible to forget the legendary duo of Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin in “School 2013,” the fifth installment of the famous “School” series. In “School 2013,” Go Nam Soon (Lee Jong Suk) and Park Heung Soo (Kim Woo Bin) struggle to face various school-related issues involving bullying, academics, and friendships. At the start of the drama, Go Nam Soon and Park Heung Soo have a rocky relationship despite having once been close friends in the past. However, it quickly becomes very evident that they still care for each other deeply. Despite Park Heung Soo’s adamant refusal to accept Go Nam Soon back in his life, Go Nam Soon continues to express concern and affection, eventually worming his way back into Park Heung Soo’s life and rekindling their broken friendship. “School 2013” forgoes the typical romance subplot to focus on just the friendships between the students, and the cast’s portrayal really conveyed the raw emotions and tension between the characters. What makes the drama shine even more is the stellar acting and undeniable chemistry between Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin, with their real-life friendship also withstanding the test of time!
