Here Is The List Of The 10 Best K-Dramas Of 2022, According To Industry Insiders

Did your favorite show make the list?

The past few years have seen the global popularity of K-Dramas increase. Following the success of Squid Game, it seems like Korean shows have found their way into the hearts of viewers worldwide, with the likes of Netflix and other sites making it easier to enjoy the shows.

Along with their picks for the worst K-Drama, JoyNews24 also conducted a survey amongst 200 insiders, and here are their top K-Dramas of 2022.

2. Our Blues

Our Blues immediately caught the attention of fans, even before it started airing. The star-studded cast and beautiful backdrop gained notice, including Kim Woo Bin and Shin Min A, but it was the storyline that truly cemented its place on the list.

Throughout the series, the story is beautifully written and focuses on romances and friendships in a way that is dramatic, humorous, and touching. Although the hype might not have been as much as Extraordinary Attorney Woo, the show had a strong following, gaining praise for each episode.

*** I really admire Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin's heartwarming friendship because despite their busy schedules they still have time to hangout together. TODAY, November 16th, Lee Jong Suk took to Instagram to share a photo of himself with Kim Woo Bin, no message but, instead adding a heart emoji in the caption. They have been close friends for years. Too bad that I wasn't able to watch their drama some years ago, though.   :kisslevel:

Nice friendship

@Vivaleta64  thanks for sharing this. Yes, NICE friendship/bromance indeed! In the photo, Lee Jong Suk had dinner with Kim Woo Bin. As far as I know they are the same age and have been seen showing their support for each other by showing up in VIP screenings for each of their works. Recently, Kim Woo Bin is said to have attended the VIP screening event for his film 'Decibel.' (also starring Kim Rae Won). t's so good to see the two together still. I hope they could do another project together in the future. It's been many years since their work together, which was KBS2's drama '"School ". I'm glad to see they're still friends.   :heart4:

*** What an adorable close friendship! They're leaning their heads against each other. Kim Woo Win reportedly attended the VIP premiere of Lee Jong Suk’s movie Decibel on this day to cheer his best friend. Their sweet friendship even led them to film a TV commercial together. I want to see them on the same show again. I love how they are still so close.   :luvarrow:

Top 10 K-Drama OSTs Of 2022

2022 is almost coming to a close, which means now is the perfect time to look back at the year in review. When it comes to K-Dramas, the industry has seen unprecedented success this year, with several international accolades and awards coming its way. One of the most crucial contributors to a K-Drama's immersion is the OST.

A colossal amount of hard work goes into creating the perfect OST.

Of course, that includes the featuring artists, their interpretation of the emotions the OST is trying to convey, the lyrics of the songs, the genre, style, and flair, but also the music editing, production value, composition, music direction, mixing, arrangement and so on and so forth.

Each song on an OST has a very unique purpose, and the fulfillment of the drama's intention is hinged on the same. Even the slightest misplaced tune can drastically change the narrative. At the same time, the coherence of the complete OST is what evokes the essence of the drama. You might have one or two songs stuck in your head, but what truly brings out the ethos of the story is the unity of it all.

After all, when it comes to soundtracks, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

With that said, let's celebrate some of the best OSTs of 2022 with due appreciation for all the artists who worked hard on the same and discuss what makes them so special.

Here are the top 10 best K-Drama OSTs of 2022!

3. "Our Blues"

Top 10 K-Drama OSTs Of 2022

tvN

Contributing Artists: Kim YeonJi, Heize, 10cm, BTS JiMin, Ha SungWoon, Davichi, Girls' Generation's TaeYeon, MeloMance, STAYC, Punch, aespa's Winter & NingNing.

Prevalent Mood: Nostalgia, Melancholy, Bittersweet, Light at the end of the tunnel.

Rank Rationale: One of the most memorable K-Dramas of 2022, "Our Blues" is our ensemble dream come true. It is defined as an omnibus-format drama, but the thread of continuity that weaves the different stories together is what makes it such a brilliant watch. The same principle holds true for its OST. It reflects a rainbow of emotions - all of which are born from the same nerve of oneness. There are a number of different genres in this OST, just like the different seasons, but there's undeniable parallelism here, and that is where the charm of the "Our Blues" OST lies.

6 Heartfelt K-Dramas That Don't Have A Happy Ending

There are certain clichés that exist in almost every K-Drama and a happy ending is one of them. There's a certain thrill that comes with watching the two main characters overcome all obstacles and ultimately fall in love. Throughout the drama, they are built up to be practically inseparable. This makes it difficult to expect anything but a happy ending.

Even though a happy ending is the norm, it is not unheard of to have a drama end in a bittersweet, heartbreaking fashion.

These dramas possess the special ability to spread warmth through your soul while simultaneously breaking it down at the same time. They might not be the ending we expected, but it's the ending that happened.

Get the tissues ready, because you'll definitely need it. Let's take a look at some of these K-Dramas that ended on a more sad and emotional note.

This article will contain spoilers.

4. "Uncontrollably Fond"

The KBS2 drama features Kim WooBin as A-list celebrity, Shin JoonYoung and Suzy as feisty, documentary PD, NoEul.

The two met once before as teenagers, but sadly had to go their separate ways. Years later, they reunite for work and while they initially have a rocky start, JoonYoung becomes determined to rekindle their relationship.

What's most heartbreaking about "Uncontrollably Fond" is that with JoonYoung's terminal illness being revealed early on, fans of the show could only watch with a heavy heart as the drama's end remained in plain sight. Despite this, the couple shared many sweet, uplifting moments that make you believe true love does exist. Their genuine, sincere nature radiates from head to toe and you can't help but fall for their lovely charms. While their separation is inevitable, their journey to that end is filled with an uncontrollable warmth.

*** According to a Dispatch report yesterday, December 25th, Kim Woo Bin sent Christmas gifts to children in the Pediatrics of Asan Medical Center in Seoul. In a call with Dispatch, his agency has also confirmed that this is indeed true. He quietly delivered gifts prepared for about 200 children to the hospital personally. Along with the Santa's bag he brought along, he gifted art supplies sets, and tumblers. Just this year, he has also donated 100 million KRW (approx. US$780,000) to the hospital. He has also posted in Instagram with the message he has written to the children, "(Wishing) for the children's health, happiness, and miracles," as he wishes his fans Merry Christmas.  What a heartwarming act!  He's a genuine person who’s also got a lot to be thankful for!  May God always bless and protect him. He has such a big heart.   :heart2beat:
