Great number of low-budget movies to be
 presented at theaters

A great number of movies that were invited to different international film festivals will be released in Korea.

First of all, movie 'Barbie' is the first Korean film to win an award at Italy's Giffoni International Film Festival, and it was also invited to the Busan International Film Festival.0

Furthermore, child actresses, Kim Sae Ron and Kim Ah Ron, who are sisters, casted together, and Lee Chun Hee casted as the antagonist for the first time after his debut.

Furthermore, 'Touch', which was invited to the 17th Busan International Film Festival, which closed on 13th, will be released on November 8th.

In the past, independent movies and low-budget movies were hard to draw public's attention, because they couldn't afford paying a lot of money for marketing or promotions. Thus, they were usually known to people by getting invitations from different international film festivals.

An official from the movie industry said, "Low-budget movies stand less chances of becoming hits compared to other blockbuster movies. They have trouble from getting movie theaters that will present their movies to the public. Since situations are as bad as such, getting invitations from international film festivals means a lot to them."

The official also added, "International film festivals are great places where they can get evaluations from the public, and it brings positive effects afterwards."

In September, Korean Film Council decided to extend their support amont to 1200 million KRW by 2013, but low-budget movies are still going through many struggles.

An official said, "Even though they get supports from Korean Film Council, many directors still put their own money to produce movies. There are too many great movies that don't do well."

Previously, director Kim Ki Duk's 'Pieta' was re-spotlighted after winning the Golden Lion Award at the 69th Venice International Film Festival.

Now, the low-budget movies were given chances for more contacts with the public, and many movie fans are showing great interest in how they will be evaluated in such harsh conditions.

I have read few reviews from Korean audience after watching BARBIE. The major of viewers really like the movie. They loved the movie and impressed at the incredible acting of sister Saeron , Yeron and the amazing villain transformation of Lee Chun Hee. The heartbreaking adoption story remain deep and unforgettable in their mind.
I'm so happy~I hope that Barbie doing well at the box chart despite tough competition.
