 Cha Tae Hyun Talks About His Role Jeon Woochi for ′Woochi′

The Cha Tae Hyun and Uee couple will be coming to the small screen.
On November 14, the two actors appeared at the press conference for KBS2′s upcoming drama Woochiwith fellow actors Lee Hee Jun and Baek Jin Hee.

During the photo session held before the interview, Cha Tae Hyun showed he was completely immersed in his Jeon Woochi character, posing as if he was shooting bursts of energy from his hands. Uee followed suit, putting on a warrior pose that was like a dance and drawing laughter from the audience.

The actors′ friendly antics showed the drama was set for success.






Woochi is about how Jeon Woochi, student of Hong Gil Dong, fights against Ma Sook (Kim Gap Soo) and Gang Lim (Lee Hee Jun) to protect Hong Gil Dong′s country Yuldo. Jeon Woochi acts like a lazy nobody in everyday life, but whenever he has to fight he transforms into the magician Jeon Woochi. He even puts his life on the line when Hong Mu Yeon (Uee), granddaughter of Hong Gil Dong and Jeon Woochi′s fiance, falls under a spell and starts to attack him.

Cha Tae Hyun said the role wasn′t too hard because it wasn′t that different from the role he played for the film Gone With the Wind, but still he did hit a few difficulties.

He said, "At first it was hard because I had to shoot things out of my hands and chant spells, but now I don′t make much of it. I just think of the manga Dragon Ball and its Energy Blast."

He then added, "My six year old son went into a state of panic after watching the preview the day before yesterday. He chants spells and tries to shoot things at me whenever he sees me. I′m worried children on the street will start to ask me to show off my spells."

"I hope the piece becomes a big success, and branches out into Woochi trading cards or collectibles," he hoped. "It′s the first time I′ve pretended to shoot stuff out of my hands, and I learned I have to be shameless. I have to be serious, and really think energy is coming out of my hands. I thought when I first read the script that if I don′t become brazen, nothing will hold."

Cha Tae Hyun is currently active as a member of the KBS2 1 Night, 2 Days crew. Coincidentally, fellow member Uhm Tae Woong previously appeared this year in the KBS2 drama The Equator Man, and Ju Won also scored a success withBridal Mask.

When asked to compare Jeon Woochi with Ju Won′s Bridal Mask, Cha Tae Hyun answered, "Jeon Woochi is like Superman, so you can′t compare him to Bridal Mask. Ability-wise, this is how it is, but since Bridal Mask is ′the Nation′s hero′, I have to be careful around him."

Woochi will air its first episode on November 21.

After School′s Uee on Acting as the Lover of a Man Much Older Than Her

Uee opened up about how it feels to partner up with a man more than 10 years older than her for her drama.
Uee attended the press conference for the upcoming KBS2 drama Woochi held on November 14.




Uee said when asked about her teamwork with Cha Tae Hyun, "I don′t feel much pressure. It′s very comfortable. I often feel I′m being protected as an actress and as a little sister on set."

She then added, "I wear a lot of hanbok because the drama is a period piece. I hope more people notice my traditional charms this time."

The singer-turned-actor has often acted in bright and more modern roles for her dramas, but for Woochi she will be undergoing a transformation of her own. She will appear as the ′ice princess′ Hong Mu Yeon, granddaughter of Hong Gil Dong and Jeon Woochi′s fiance.

Hong Mu Yeon will be put under a spell, and attack Jeon Woochi without being able to recognize who he is. In a few videos released from the drama, Uee is shown with a cold smile on her face, attacking her lover Jeon Woochi while flying through the air on wires.

Uee said about her role, "I′m trying to figure out ways to express myself since I have to put on a straight face all the time. The action isn′t too hard because I′ve trained my body through dance. I′ll show off a type of action never seen in other actresses, and make it look like a dance."

Woochi airs its first episode on November 21.

Some snapshots of After School’s UEE and Cha Tae Hyun, the lead actor and actress of the new drama series Jeon Woo Chi, were recently released before the series started airing.

KBS 2TV’s new drama series Jeon Woo Chi is a historical drama series based on a classic novel of the same title. It’s about guru Jeon Woo Chi (played by Cha Tae Hyun) who tries to take revenge on his friend for betraying him after he loses his master Hong Gil Dong and lover Hong Moo Yeon (played by UEE).

On November 16, the production company of the series released the snapshots from the scene, in which Jeon Woo Chi thinks of the moment in the past when he kissed Hong Moo Yeon.

The kissing scene was shot on November 12. It was humid and cold, but Cha and UEE created a beautiful scene in thin hanbok. Without making a mistake, they finished shooting the kissing scene at once. As UEE got embarrassed before shooting the scene, Cha made her laugh to make her feel relaxed.

After the shooting, UEE said, “I felt really nervous today because it was my first romance scene for this series. I’ve always shot action scenes, so it was fun. Cha Tae Hyun helped me a lot to focus on the emotions of my character.”

The production company says, “All the cast members are working hard despite the cold weather. Please look forward to the love story between Jeon Woo Chi and Hong Moon Yeon.”

Jeon Woo Chi is directed by Kang Il Soo, who also directed Emperor of The Sea and Land of Wind, and written by Jo Myung Joo, who also wrote Gwanggaeto the Great. It stars Cha Tae Hyun, UEE, Lee Hee Jun, Baek Jin Hee, Sung Dong Il, Kim Gap Soo, and Hong Jong Hyun.

Character introductions and kisses for Jeon Woo-chi

Aw, smoochies, smoochies for everyone! Get ‘em while you can, I say, especially since we know there’s a whole revenge plot to come, once happiness and loved ones get stripped away from our hero. But before the darkness and mayhem, it’s nice to know that life in utopia is, well, perfect. It’s a still-a-palooza for action fusion sageuk Jeon Woo-chi, featuring character promo shots for each of our players, as well as some enticing introductions to our cast of characters, supernatural and otherwise.

First, our hero Jeon Woo-chi (Cha Tae-hyun), a mischievous wizard who lacks no confidence. He chases women, talks a good game, but doesn’t seem like he amounts to much, or cares a lick about revenge. But of course that’s all an act, because he travels to Joseon to avenge the loss of his teacher and the love of his life — he just adopts that persona so that people will underestimate him. Tricksy, and smart.

Woo-chi also lives a cover life as Ichi (Ha — that’s like me forming a secret identity as girlthursday — no one will suspect!), a type of reporter for the local news source. So he’s basically got a Clark Kent/Superman deal going, complete with the dark-rimmed glasses for the dorky reporter persona. Ichi is money-crazy, and a wimp who runs away at the first sign of trouble.

Though he only cares about his own revenge mission, Woo-chi keeps getting entangled in the citizens’ problems. He finds it all annoying, but the more he helps, the more they start to see him as a hero. It’s the last thing he wants, but perhaps a fate he can’t avoid.

Our heroine Hong Mu-yeon (Uee) is the granddaughter of Hong Gil-dong and the princess the (fictional) utopian land of Yuldo. She learned wizardry along with Woo-chi, and is brave and strong-willed, and doesn’t flinch in the face of death. Big Bad Ma Sook (Kim Gab-soo) puts her under a spell that erases her memory and controls her mind, taking her away to use her as a weapon against the Joseon people. But once a month, the energy from the moon weakens the spell, and she remembers and longs for Woo-chi.

Jeon Woo-chi’s nemesis is actually a frenemy: Kang-lim (Lee Hee-jun) grew up with both Mu-yeon and Woo-chi in Yuldo, and his is the classic jealous best friend second lead story. He loved Mu-yeon, but always ended up second best in everything, including winning her heart. He chooses to betray them, setting our story in motion.

Lee He-ryung (Baek Jin-hee) is the real Ichi’s little sister. Ah, so he adopts an identity that actually exists. Ichi’s been missing for some time, so when Woo-chi takes on the persona, He-ryung thinks she’s found her long-lost oppa after all this time. Now he has to keep her fooled and thinking that he’s her brother, when he’s really not. AH. I thought she’d be Woo-chi’s little sister, but this is actually more interesting.

Seo Chan-hwi (Hong Jong-hyun) is a member of the royal guard and a humorless, rule-following man of honor. He’s a good guy, but since Woo-chi is acting outside the law, he’ll be dogged left and right by Captain Stick-in-the-Mud. I can only hope for City Hunter/Prosecutor goodness from these two.

Jeon Woo-chi premieres on Wednesday (Eeeee!) on KBS.

Kim Yoo-hyeon cast for "Jeon Woochi - Drama"

Rookie actress Kim Yoo-hyeon (25) has been cast for the KBS 2TV drama "Jeon Woochi - Drama".

Kim takes on the role of Sarang Son, a messenger who delivers all kinds of messages to Jeon Woochi.

Jeon Woochi Preview: Lee Hee Joon as the Four Faces of Kang-lim In 'Jeon Woochi'

Actor Lee Hee-joon has revealed the four different faces of his role Kang-lim in the upcoming drama ‘Jeon Woochi’

Actor Lee Hee-joon has been chosen to play the main antagonist Kang-lim, opposite the titular character (Cha Tae-hyun) in the upcoming drama ‘Jeon Woochi’. A master of lightning, the power-hungry Kang-lim even is willing to murder in order to increase his power, creating an attractive and cold antagonist for the new star of the drama scene.

The actor’s transformation in four different roles as Kang-lim, a servant, a policeman and a criminal, is complete with drastically clashing images, capturing the attention of the actors.

The fantasy-historical ‘Jeon Woochi’ depicts the titular character’s quest for his revenge, after he loses his master and father-figure Hong Gil-dong and his lover Hong Moo-yeon (Uee of After School), and will be broadcast as the follow-up to the ‘Nice Guy’ on 21st.
