Raymond Lam isn't upset 'Chok Fung' gets used in many series as a spoofThursday July 5, 2012 Hong KongSource: Mingpao

Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma and Sharon Chan attended the promotional event for TVB new series Three Kingdoms RPG; large groups of fans went to support them. It was rumored because TVB has not reached an agreement with iCable on the broadcast rights for the summer Olympics, TVB decided to use this series to fight iCable. As one of the leads, Raymond said: "I haven't heard of the rumor, sometimes we shouldn't make the broadcast periods too complicated." He is not worried that this series will become a storage series because producer Lau Kar Ho left TVB. Raymond said: "I've accumulated a lot of experience during the filming process, other things, leave it for TVB to decide."

New series Witness Insecurity makes a spoof out of Raymond's nickname "Chok Fung". Raymond laughed: "All of the scriptwriters have really misplaced their kindness on me. Every series has my name in it, I really don't deserve their many kindnesses. I'm already satisfied enough to be able to shoot one series a year, unless these are also considered show money." Asked if he's upset? Raymond helplessly said: "I didn't watch it, actually there are a lot of names that could be used, thank you thank you. In fact, a lot of my seniors had 'chok looks' too, it's just I accidentally promoted the term."

Tavia Yeung continues to deny the rumors that she's cohabiting with rumored boyfriend Him Law. She stressed: "I have always been cohabiting with my mom in Tseung Kwan O. Earlier when I had dinner with Him, I learned he intends to move to the Tsueng Kwan O district, for the convenience of work." Tavia was teased that it's actually because its convenient for Him to go out with her, she said: "I know you all will try to relate the issue to us, but it's not just Him, a lot of artists moved to Tsueng Kwan O district too." Asked if she'll suggest Him to look at homes near her area? Tavia said: "I can't do it, its very troublesome for artists to buy and rent homes. I may even get the price jacked up by them. (Buy a home together?) Of course not."

Guest Durian Puff

I think the concept is very unique. I thought it would be boring initially because I normally don't like historic stuff. I decided to give it a try and the first episode was good so far, at least I thought some parts were funny, especially the part where kenneth goes back in time. Hmmm, lets see how it goes from here.

The storyline was about Kenneth using coarse language to yell at friends: "You two PKs!" TVB new series Three Kingdoms RPG (TKRPG)starring Raymond Lam, Kenneth Ma and Tavia Yeung has been continuously criticized by Netizens in the last several days. Strong criticisms centered on how TKRPG was poorly done compared to the 11 year old popular time travel series A Step into the Past. The special effects were ridiculously fake, the war scenes had no horses and the lead actors were attacked as well. Raymond and Kenneth were the target of attacks by Netizens. Kenneth's acting was too exaggerated and he's not suitable to play a young gamer based on his age. As for Raymond, his slow reactions make ChuGot Leung (Zhuge Liang) seem incompetent and stupid.

Raymond strongly supported TKRPG that it is different from A Step into the Past and expressed for his ChuGot Leung role, he has put in all his heart: "This is my first time putting on a fake mustache for the entire series, it was difficult. My laugh in the series sounds like Santa Claus, always 'Ho Ho Ho', because I was afraid the mustache would fall off." He also praises his partner Leung Ka Kei's professionalism: "I told her that her role (ChuGot Leung's wife) is an ill and ugly woman in history, so I told her not to put on fake eye-lashes and her lipstick should be as light as possible. She really trusted me, very professional." Raymond also reveals he will no longer shoot another TVB series this year, he said: "Coming up, I have to shoot a Mainland drama, release a new album and shoot films. I hope to establish a foundation in the film scene first." He discloses he currently will shoot one series per year with TVB.

Yesterday when Kenneth was recording for TVB new show (玩轉三周1/2), he responded to criticisms of his exaggerated acting, he said: "There will definitely be a little in comedy. My role was created to be very high, so can't be too calm. A lot of the funny scenes comes from on the spot improvisation. The initial plan was to make it funny, the most important is audience to think its funny. (Then are you stealing Raymond Lam's limelight?) He has his smart side."

TVB new series Three Kingdoms RPG has recently been attacked by Netizens that it's a sloppy production, Kenneth Ma's too old for the role and his acting is too exaggerated. Despite the criticisms, it was announced yesterday at the promotion the premiere week averaged at 30 points, peaking 35 points. The cast including Raymond Lam, Kenneth Ma, Tavia Yeung, Leung Ka Kei, Sharon Chan, Ruco Chan and the rest of the cast took part in the promotional event. The cast were not affected by the criticisms and happily played the games. Raymond reveals he's planning to celebrate with the cast and crew next week as well.

When speaking of the poor special effects seen in the series? Raymond said: "Already said before there won't be large-scale battle scenes, it's just a simple production using a historical setting." Kenneth is too old for his role? He said: "TV series are to entertain audience, just as long as viewers enjoy watching. The Kenneth I know is very quiet, this time it's a breakthrough for him. He's exaggerated because its a comedy." Raymond also denied the saying that Kenneth replaced Ron Ng. Netizens attacked Leung Ka Kei's acting as well, but Raymond supported her, she was comfortable, competent and respectful towards her work. Raymond said she just appeared in the series, so judgements shouldn't be made too early.

Tavia denied that the series is a sloppy production because it's not focused on the magnificent battles, but rather the theme of traveling back in time. The importance is being able to bring in the comedy and a fresh feeling. As for Kenneth being attacked by Netizens? She said: "I don't think he's old, he performed very well. There is no definition of how old a gamer has to be, could be up to 50 years old." She also praised Kenneth had a lot of development in his role, and has a different style than Ron Ng. She didn't see Ron Ng's version of the role, but she believes they will both produce a different effect.

Also, this year Tavia has 5 series on hand, it was said she can compete with TV Queen Myolie Wu this year. Tavia said: "Last year I had 4 series, can't validate it like that. Many things are about the quality, not quantity. Have to see if its a good time along with many other factors for it to work. (Ex-rumored boyfriend Chris Lai is rumored dating a wealthy girl, if he gets married, will you wish him happiness?) Of course happiness, otherwise do I hope for them to break up?!"

I'll try this for Ruco and Sharon, but I still find Raymond Lam's mustache horrendous and too fake. LOL why is that there are so many people complaining about TVB series nowadays? It's the only thing I seem to hear....

Typhoon 'Vicente' struck Hong Kong yesterday. At 5pm, there was already a Typhoon 8. Everyone got off work early to rush home, causing all of TVB's prime time slot ratings to increase. "Come Home Love" and "Three Kingdoms RPG" achieved new peaks since their broadcast. However, because the typhoon interrupted the towers' electric power supply, many districts in the New Territories were affected...not being able to receive TVB; the ratings of "Witness Insecurity" were also affected.

At 7:30pm, "Scoop" averaged 34 points (2,180,000 viewers). In the past, "Come" has averaged around twenty-something points; however, on the night of the typhoon, the average reached 38 points (2,430,000 viewers). "Three" reached 42 points (2,690,000 viewers), which is a new ratings peak for the series since its broadcast. "Witness", which has always had high ratings, averaged 37 points (2,370,000 viewers). As for "TV Funny", which premiered the night before, it averaged 32 points (2,050,000 viewers).

"Witness Insecurity" Does Not Benefit

TVB's Assistant Director of Foreign Affairs Tsang Sing Ming said that, because of the typhoon, the two towers in Castle Peak and Cloudy Hill had an interruption in the electric power supply; thus, some of the viewers in the New Territories' Northern and Western districts were affected. It was not until yesterday's 2pm that broadcasting was back to normal. Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, Ma On Shan, Fanling, Sheung Shui, and other districts had television viewer complaints. TVB received many viewer complaints about not being able to watch "Witness". It is believed that the electric power interruption began affecting the reception at 9pm the night before; thus, the typhoon night's ratings increase was not as high as other programmes.

TVB artist Cheung Wing Hong played the foolish 'Fan Kan' in Three Kingdoms RPG. Lately he has gained recognition and popularity based on his Fan Kan role. Netizens praised his cute and blunt personality found in the series and supports him to get the Most Improved Artist award this year. Hong directly said he's overjoyed by the unexpected good news and will continue to work hard.

Bringing a refreshing feeling to the audience, Hong expressed he created 'Fan Kan' into a man with an IQ of a 10 year old to contrast Kenneth Ma's cleverness. He is also thankful of the advice Kenneth gave him: "On the first day we started shooting, he said to me, we can just speak our minds . For example, my character is always getting bullied by him, he taught me to attack back from time to time, so audience can feel it's a good watch." He frankly expressed he's grateful that Kenneth was able to accept others' opinions and won't refuse to listen just because he's a Siu Sang.

Netizens disappointed by 'Three Kingdoms RPG' tragic ending
Saturday August 11, 2012 Hong Kong
Source: Mingpao
Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

TVB series Three Kingdoms RPG ended on Friday. Kenneth Ma's role SzeMa Shun successfully returns to the future, but he failed to bring his lover Song Yau (Tavia Yeung) back with him. He waited 30 years for another strong typhoon to hit, but as he runs towards the portal to the past, he suddenly gets a heart attack and dies. Not long after Song Yau, who didn't get any older, descends from the sky. The series ends when Song Yau sobs as she looks at SzeMa Shun. Netizens were extremely dissatisfied with the ending and scolds that the ending was terrible. They believed it was very heartless to not let SzeMa Shun see Song Yau one last time before he dies. Also, its strange that a comedy series had a tragic ending. Netizens criticized that the ending was very disappointing, the scriptwriters tried too hard to appeal to our emotions, but it wasn't touching enough. SzeMa Shun waited 30 years to see Song Yau again, but Song Yau just had to appear after he dies. It was too tragic that Song Yau had to see SzeMa Shun die, while SzeMa Shun never got to see Song Yau before he died. Three Kingdoms RPG had a tragic ending just like the previous Witness Insecurity, and both series were produced by Lau Kar Ho, Netizens were displeased by this. There were also Raymond Lam fans, displeased by the little screen time Raymond had. He never appeared after the Battle of Redwall. Tavia Yeung responded to the complaints, she said: "Perhaps if it was a happy ending, then people will think the endings are always like that. Audience have different demands and different taste. I thought the ending was pretty good and meaningful. Kenneth and I already had a happy ending in The Hippocratic Crush. (Netizens are asking for an alternative ending?) Lau Kar Ho already left TVB, it probably won't happen!"

How does the Cast want the series to end?

Kenneth Ma (SzeMa Shun): "I will bring all the people from the Three Kingdoms to the future. Lau Bei can be the chief executive and Cheung Fei can be the head of the police force, but the most important is that I can marry Song Yau. In the finale, there must be a kiss scene for us too, that's a perfect ending." Raymond Lam (ChuGot Leung): "SzeMa Shun wanted to bring Song Yau back to the future, but unexpectedly he brings ChuGot Leung instead. Since ChuGot Leung is well educated and talented, SzeMa Shun decides to open a school and let him do all the teaching there and educate more people. SzeMa Shun will be the principal at the school. As for Song Yau, she was left behind in the Three Kingdoms and wasn't able to go to the future with her lover, she sits every day at the location where the portal to the future opens in hope for a miracle to happen. She hopes one day SzeMa Shun can return to the Three Kingdoms, but unfortunately her dream never comes true." Tavia Yeung (Song Yau): "I get to the future with SzeMa Shun, and teach modern day HK females the good qualities of ancient women and Chinese traditional cooking techniques. In fact, I believe HK females are so busy in the city that they have forgotten Chinese culture, so I will help spread it around. Since I'm back in modern day, I have the freedom to love, just like how it was said in the series, 'good, ugly or bad, its still your choice'. I don't think I'll choose SzeMa Shun! He will instead have to spend more time thinking of how to pursue me again." Leung Ka Kei (Wong Yuet Ying): "Because ancient women are very pure and gentle, I think men in the future will like them. I'll go to the future with SzeMa Shun and let the modern men know that women aren't just about the looks, but the inner beauty is also very important." Sharon Chan (Siu Kiu): "SzeMa Shun is too naughty! He should be stuck in the Three Kingdoms as his punishment, so he can crack more jokes and entertain the people in ancient times. Also, it would best for him and Song Yau to get married in the end." Ruco Chan (Chow Yu): "Don't let Chow Yu die. He has to have a 'relationship' with SzeMa Shun. The two will start out as friends, then turn into close friends." Cheung Wing Hong (Fan Kan): "SzeMa Shun brings me to the future, so I can continue to serve him. Also, I can keep on being the 'lightbulb' in between him and Song Yau and witness their relationship blossom." Rachel Kan (Mrs. Kum): "SzeMa Shun successfully brings Song Yau to the future. Song Yau has to get accustomed to life in the future, and they finally have a happy ending. Perhaps the ending can leave room for a sequel!" Ram Chiang (Man Yuek): "SzeMa Shun brings Song Yau to Mars and the couple opens a KTV and sings 'Always On My Mind' every day, so the aliens can enjoy it!" Joseph Lee (Lau Bei): "All of us in the Three Kingdoms goes to the future. We go around causing trouble and mess up society. That would be good for a sequel."

Making Money Is More Important for Kenneth Ma Than Competing for Awards

Last night, artiste Kenneth Ma attended the celebration banquet for the TV series "Three Kingdoms RPG", which was treated by TVB Chairman Norman Leung. As for it being a 'one person, one vote' to choose this year's TV king, would he be confident in winning an award? He said, "A normal heart! (Not enthusiatic about awards?) More enthusiastic toward making money! (Would you be pushing for votes?) Will not! Looks disgusting".

Raymond Lam: Viewers Voting for TV King Increases Ratings

Last night, artiste Raymond Lam attended the celebration banquet for the TV series "Three Kingdoms RPG", but he showed up 45 minutes late. He explained that he was late because of rushing to film a movie, even hurting his left index finger when showering. TVB would be having a 'one person, one vote' to choose this year's TV king, would he, who has many fans, have even more confidence in winning an award? He said, "Confidence would be slightly higher. Also, this system is quite good...can attract more attention from viewers. If there are more viewers, then the ratings would naturally be high".

TVB Executive Norman Leung hosted celebration banquet rewarding the cast and crew of Three Kingdoms RPG. Raymond Lam, Kenneth Ma, Tavia Yeung, Sharon Chan and Ruco Chan all attended. However Raymond was 45 minutes late to the celebration. He explained while he was rushing over, he carelessly injured his finger, Raymond said: "After shooting a water scene for my new film, I went for a shower. While I was getting ready to get out to change, I was rushing while pushing the shower curtain back and carelessly jabbed my finger into the wall. It was hurting pretty badly and swelled up too. I could barely put on my pants, but it shouldn't be anything serious. Luckily it's my left hand, otherwise I wouldn't be able to sign the autographs." Earlier, director Vincent Lok worked with Raymond on a comedy film and praised his abilities. He said Raymond could do anything, he could be either Chok, not Chok or non-handsome. Raymond thanked him for the compliments and expressed he doesn't have too many comedies, so he's very grateful to have a group of seniors there to help him feel more comfortable. Asked if he has to put down a burden when doing comedies? He said: "No burden at all, especially for an actor, there has never been any burdens. Basically since my first TV series, I have never cared about my image. You can ask Tavia and them too, back then they always asked me 'hey why don't you ever comb your hair?' And I would say, well that's how my character is."

Supports 'One Vote Per Person'

As for the 'One Vote Per Person' voting system at this year's TVB anniversary awards, does Raymond think his chances are higher since he has so many fans? He said: "Not related, but I do support this idea because more people could participate and naturally get more attention and higher ratings. Awards are like a bonus, the awards ceremony is more like a reunion." When speaking of Kenneth's breakthrough in Three Kingdoms RPG, many artists from the industry are supporting him to becoming this year's TV King. Kenneth said: "Thank you." Tavia asked: "Did you give them money?" Kenneth joked: "I threatened them in private." Then Kenneth continues: "I don't mind the One Vote Per Person. (Feel more confident with this system?) I actually think the results of this new voting system is completely unpredictable. I believe it will bring excitement and happiness to audience. (More relatives could increase your votes?) Voting like that is awkward. I'll try my best, the award would be a bonus or if I don't get any awards, I'll still be working as usual. (Do you think you'll lose to Raymond Lam, who has a large fan base?) Nothing about who loses to who, there is still The Last Steep of Ascent and The Confident that is waiting to air." Tavia said the new system satisfies audience as they could be part of the voting.

Rumored Three Kingdoms RPG Sequel

It was rumored Three Kingdoms RPG is getting a sequel, Tavia and Kenneth already had ideas on how the sequel could be. Tavia said: "Kenneth played a childish character, but in the sequel he could be a more serious character, like a poet. As for me, I should be the opposite, shouldn't be so well-behaved, I could be a party girl!" Asked if it should be a modern version? Tavia said: "If it does happen, I think a modern version would be best, so it won't be so difficult for us to film." Kenneth said: "But I'm thinking how I could come back to life because I died. (Tavia: "it will be a whole different story") Doesn't matter, as long as I'm still paired up with Tavia." The reporter asked if Tavia was okay with the pairing? She said: "Okay, of course, we're a pair. (Will audience get bored of it, you guys always pairing up?) Oh no, audience like it. I think if we weren't a pair, audience wouldn't like it and complain."

As for the other on-screen couple, Sharon and Ruco, they just hoped to have more scenes. Sharon said: "I'm not going to be a guest star anymore, my story has to be longer." Sharon had a very sassy character, does she want to be something else this time? Ruco jumps in: "I don't think she was sassy at all. (Sharon: "Really? How can that be?") Pretty girls, you wouldn't think she's sassy, you would think she's normal. (Do you think your girlfriend could be pretty and sassy then?) Only if its Sharon. (Sharon: "Wait until I throw a tantrum on you and then see what happens.") Yeah you should try." Sharon added: "He's such a good sweet talker." Ruco replied: "Only to you."
